Fair dos. Do you know how they went about informing licence holders of the change? Like I say, the rules on their website do not concur with what your piece sets out; which may help explain away the confusion.
Also, the rule hasn't been enforced - I bet my dinner money that tonights fight was the first time the rule has been enforced.
Its been enforced a few times first show after the rule happend small hall show in london it was used there.

From memory, the rule came in effective January 2011. So had the fight happened three weeks later, yes, he would have kept his belt.
So, according to your article in July the 2010 - the law wasn't imminent?
The Board decided at that time to change it. They didn't tell anyone officially but I found out.
Even though I did a 'well done to the Board' story, Mr Smith got annoyed.
My memory isn't great but the Shinny example you quote is why I think I remember rightly, because I was thinking how unlucky he'd been.

You would lose, as Jonp says. Billy Boyle lost one this way too. There's probably loads.
And there have been (rightly) some draws instead of losses too:

6-2 to Williams...no point scoring anymore as McPhillbin needs a KO to win now.

McPhilbin looked out on his feet at the end of the 11th and one big shot would have probably stopped him, but he manages to stop Williams instead in the 12th. Had him down a few times.

F**king boxing, eh? What a turn around!
McP miles behind, right hook behind the ear scrambled W early in the last. He was on queer street from then, down once more, shaky legs and eventually stopped.
WOW!

Call me a sap but that interview brought a tear to my eye. It's final rounds like that, that reminds me why I love boxing.

Yeah credit where credits due.
It's funny though as Macho bailed out fearing the worst for McPhillbin but will wake up tomorrow regretting not staying up an extra 30 mins.
Fight started off well and then during the middle rds it got messy and i was drifting off as it seemed a lock Williams would win comfortably on scorecards...McPhillbin took his chance brilliantly in the last though.
