Burns at least got through it, he showed great heart to keep chipping away when he was having a hard time. Also took some big punches without going down. Certainly not a classic performance, but he won, he needs to take the broner fight or another big paying fight pretty soon before he finds one better than him from these lesser guys in lesser paying fights. Time to take he big cash and big risk.

The bloke punched himself out, tried for two more rounds and then quit. Fair play to Burns, if the bloke hadn't quit, Ricky would have stopped him.

Gonzalez shat it. That's how it appears. He may have broken his wrist but those last 2 rounds he barely threw anything he looked disheartened. Ach well burns escapes with his title. Just..

Reminded me of Haye vs Thompson in a way, just totally puinched himself out. The guy was obviously a little inexperienced at top level and just had nothing left.

ricky burns comes across very well in interviews, im glad he kept his belt tonight gonzalez was far better than expected, burns was miles off on his range finding but he broke that guy in there with that shot in the 7th after gonzalez thought burns was about to buckle. Gonzales would have got stopped on his feet if he had carried on i think he was firing nothing back and had slowed down.

Perhaps he threw nothing because he was fighting with a broken wrist? To say Gonzales has no heart is such a knee jerk reaction. It's easier said than done fighting with a broken wrist.

If he was getting caught then yes, don't put a fighter in danger...he still had good lateral movement, even if he wasn't throwing

Yes but lets see if the guy has a legit excuse, wasn't fit for 12 rounds or if he lost it mentally at the least Gonzalez could have got on his bike for the remainder of the fight and have more than a fighters chance of the belt

Not watched it for years, but maybe schooled is a bit OTT. Still the impression I remember is Duran was hoping for a repeat of the first one but couldn't really get anything going.

i was the one who brought up Broner,harsh calling Burns a fraud,limited but no fraud.PS Broner is everything wrong with boxing.
