Here's a pic of my father knocking down Harrison in Providence, RI. At the time, Harrison was a sparring partner for Marciano. My father had a scheduled fight that date with LaStarza there, but LaStarza pulled out with cuts he suffered in his last fight a few weeks earlier, and Harrison was substituted in. Though my father had Harrison down twice early on, Harrison came back to beat my dad. Charley Norkus

Hint: The man on the left is the much more well known of the two.

My guess would be Ken Norton (judging from the looks, build and K and possible N on the boot) so that would make the other guy Julius Garcia? Possibly. I think Kenny usually favoured regular boots.

I was having this idea, that the guy on the left might be a young Cassius Clay - but of course wasn't able to work that "JG" fellow into that.

I wasn't really thinking of Ken Norton, but I believe you may be right - and it would certainly explain the "K" on the right boot.

However, when I look at Ken's record, I see that Julius Garcia weighed only 195 lbs... and that other guy looks considerably heavier than that!

There's another "JG" on Norton's record, though: Jimmy Gilmore - who weighed in at a whooping 274 lbs for one of Ken's earliest fights! So I would guess, that he's the portly gentleman in the photo.

Ah yeah, good point! I just looked for Hispanic names, Jose Luis Garcia being the other, but that definitely is not him.

I'd go with Gilmore too, based on that.
