So George Groves in a fight that he's 1/100 in makes it PPV worthy? This is not WWE wrestling mate, if you want good guys v bad guys go get a foam hand.righthook wrote: I'm not sure if I'm speaking to children or if u are a man but if u are a child I will try make it easier to understand.

Re: Cleverly Vs. Bellew II - £16.95 on SKY Sports Box Office
I absolutely love Bnation & am thankful we have such a great channel for hardcore fans - but let's not pretend FW wouldn't be pulling exactly the same PPV tricks as Eddie if he was still with Sky Sports.handsofstone wrote:The fact of the matter is ,its on PPV and its not PPV worthy,If Fast Car has over paid the fighters that should come out of his own pocket
Nobodies too arsed about this rematch either and the undercards mainly walkovers, there are no world title fights
I pay for Bnation and Fwank doesnt need to fleece me out extra money to justify paying for the Chisora/Fury show where there are all pretty much 50/50 fights
Re: Cleverly Vs. Bellew II - £16.95 on SKY Sports Box Office
Not when it's on top of what you would be spending staying in anyway - it's an extra £16.95 from the household budget; I could pay but I won't - it's not worth the money for me - I get some good boxing on BixNution for 4 weekends for less.Rexob wrote:£16.95 sounds like a cheap night in.
(There's been some name calling on this thread - I thought the yanks had infiltrated for a minute).
Re: Cleverly Vs. Bellew II - £16.95 on SKY Sports Box Office
Then Eddie needs to cough up the dough for a dedicated channel instead of double dipping us. I;ll drop SKY sports in a heartbeat and take Eddies channel and keep BixNution - I'd be happy as Larry.righthook wrote:handsofstone wrote:The fact of the matter is ,its on PPV and its not PPV worthy,If Fast Car has over paid the fighters that should come out of his own pocket

Some good points mate but again people forget they pay £12 a month every month which is the same as eddie having a Ppv every single month. Like iv said sky give eddie next to nothing for his shows so that's why he has made it Ppv.
I could guarentee u that if every single sky sports subscriber gave eddie £12 a month for boxing he would put on 50 times better shows than what he puts on at the moment but the fact is he works on a budget so when he does do a big show or I should say when he puts all his stars on the one show he needs to make it Ppv to work

Palooka, you're bang on there. Also I f BT Sports take a decent interest in the sport, Sky Sports is binned.
Re: Cleverly Vs. Bellew II - £16.95 on SKY Sports Box Office
Yup, I'm waiting for my chance to ditch Sky Sports but I'm sticking with it for the time being as I do like a fair few Matchroom fighters and want to follow their careers.DazDiCanio wrote:Palooka, you're bang on there. Also I f BT Sports take a decent interest in the sport, Sky Sports is binned.
Re: Cleverly Vs. Bellew II - £16.95 on SKY Sports Box Office
Telling me I don't know 'how the real world works' isn't really going to change my mind on whether this card represents value for money, is it? What I did as well as 'coming on here and moaning' about this PPV card was to cancel my sky sports subscription. You can spin it how you want or try to educate me on 'the real world' all you want, but the bottom line is Eddie doesn't give a fornicate about legitimate boxing fans and his business model is all about cashing in on the casual punter. Why any boxing fan would defend this PPV is beyond me.righthook wrote:some people seriously havnt got a clue how the real world works.CheckHook wrote:The reason people jumped on it right away is because if Cleverly Bellew was the main event, then how good was the undercard ever going to be? And all those people were proved right anyway. Its a joke to have this as a PPV event, especially when people are paying a sky sports subscription. There's no title on the line, there's really nothing at stake and its two guys who have proved they are fringe world level at best. So the precedent is set right there. Any two fighter who operate below world level but have a dislike of each other are fair game for a PPV attraction. So what exactly do we need the Sky Sports subscription for? But we all know that's not a smart business move, so what they'll do is throw in a bunch of decent cards through the year on 'normal' Sky Sports and then max out the number of PPV fights too, so every real boxing fan is stuck in the same situation of missing out unless they pay through the nose for it all. The casuals are still happy because they have sky sports for the football and whatever else, so boxing is a little bonus now and then and they can easily be whipped up by a PPV too. And there in lies the problem and the reason why all legitimate boxing fans should be well and truly pissed off about this fight being PPV. This fight isn't for real fans and boxing isn't marketed for real fans and promoters like Hearns don't give two fucks about real fans. Its about drawing the casuals in, simple as that. Eddie is trying to cash in off the back of Froch Groves II and draw in a bunch of casuals with a 'story' and the best thing of all? Its pantomime season and Bellew is the perfect pantomime villain. Utter bollocks.righthook wrote:As iv stated earlier I genuinly believe that half the people just like to jump on the band wagon and all slate eddie, when he first announced he was going a Ppv event with bellew cleverly head lining and he said he would have an amazing card, people all started giving him stick and moaning before even hearing a single fight on the under card,
Probably allot less than £1 a month goes towards Eddie Hearn/boxing from your sky sports subscription.
The show could never be made without it being PPV, now im not saying for one minute its a great show and everyone should want to watch it im saying the show that is happening on the 22nd couldnt ever be made with out PPV as there is hardly any money that gets put in the boxing pot.
Instead of coming on here and moaning why dont you write a letter to sky saying is there any chance you can stop my football/cricket/golf/rugby on my sports package and put the whole of my sports subscription towards boxing?
No one is happy about paying for this but what choice is there when boxing is not in the top 5 most popular sports on sky?

I still love football and keep up to date but seldom watch a whole live game despite having both Sky and BT Sports,I'd drop Sky too if they dropped boxing
I love Allegedly but when the show the "classic fights" its always Pacquiao/De La Hoya,Barrera/Marquez,Barrera/Juarez or Jones Jr/Johnson

If that happened, 90% of boxing fans would immediately cancel Sky completely & immediately move over to BT for everything.DazDiCanio wrote:Palooka, you're bang on there. Also I f BT Sports take a decent interest in the sport, Sky Sports is binned.
Sky know this, which is why they continue to show small amounts of boxing, even though they pay relative peanuts for it - helps them keep their monopoly as saps like us will continue to pay for the full Sports package just to watch a couple of hours of boxing a month.

The PPV undercard 5 fight accumulator give odds of .35!
That's quality match ups.
No idea why people defend the indefensible.

To be fair Daz the various promoters and television set ups have had us over for a long long time; it's probably only natural for them to try and push it again.

Check hook
I don't think many are defending it being Ppv, the card is not worthy of Ppv but eddie had the chance to put on a great night of 50-50 fights and I don't think people would have minded paying the £17 I wouldn't of at least.
But the fact is there is not enough money off sky sports for eddie to put all them fighters on the one show without Ppv

Re: Cleverly Vs. Bellew II - £16.95 on SKY Sports Box Office
Eddie should have had 2 shows then, a fortnight apart - on regular SKY Sports. He knew how much SKY were putting in for boxing when he signed the contract - if he can't get his fighters regular shows on SKY then he should stop signing them. This isn't a mess made by anyone else and dumped on Eddies lap.
Re: Cleverly Vs. Bellew II - £16.95 on SKY Sports Box Office
We don't PPV for Football because we are not asked to pay on top of our Sky subscriptions, Sky tried PPV with Prem Plus and it failed. Sky TV have 10.5 million subscribers, a substantial number of them will also subscribe to Sky Sports, whether that's 2 million or 8 million of them, even if less than £1 of their subscriptions goes to boxing, there's still substantial money in the pot. The only reason PPV is needed for this bill is because Eddie has attempted to put it in that position, to line his own pockets. The bill didn't need to be made and none of the fights on it needed to be made. Being asked to pay an extra £17 is simply ripping people off.righthook wrote:tony1234 wrote:Can you imagine the uproar if SKY suddenly decided to make Swansea v Arsenal on Sunday PPV as the costs of taking the TV trucks to Wales make it impossible to show on normal SKY Sports, yet boxing fans are having to put up with this and no murmur from anyone bar people on here
Yeh there would be an uproar and rightly so but the difference mate is we pay 95%+ of our sky sports subscription for football so we would all have a right to moan! As I have said earlier less than £1 of your sports subscription goes on boxing so that's why this purticular Bill needs to be Ppv to be made.
If you think about it u pay Ppv for football because u pay 95% of your sky sports subscription to football and then u have to buy bt sport and what ever else just for football but it's funny the way no one says a word about that????
Re: Cleverly Vs. Bellew II - £16.95 on SKY Sports Box Office
The fact is, he didn't need to make it PPV and he didn't need to put all his fighters in against weak opposition just to try and sell a PPV. He did it because he is trying to cash in on casual fans selling a stories and a names rather than giving value for money.righthook wrote:But the fact is there is not enough money off sky sports for eddie to put all them fighters on the one show without Ppv

Like I said before at the start of this when it was not 100% confirmed it was going to be Ppv eddie come out and said this will b a great card and well worth the money, I believed he was going to put on a 6/7 50-50 fights that everyone wanted to see, instead he made 2/3 good fights and the rest miss matches but now he has put all these big names on the one card it has to be Ppv or it can't happen.
Eddie gets ridiculed all the time and sometimes I think it's completly undeserved but on this occasion he had the chance to silence all his critics and make one of the best nights of boxing but he messed that right up.
Re: Cleverly Vs. Bellew II - £16.95 on SKY Sports Box Office
And for £12 a month they get an entire month of programming, without being asked to pay extra on top of it, this month that includes Hopkins-Kovalev, Pacquiao-Algieri, Fury-Chisora, Saunders-Eubank Jr and Crawford-Beltran. It's great value for money.righthook wrote:handsofstone wrote:The fact of the matter is ,its on PPV and its not PPV worthy,If Fast Car has over paid the fighters that should come out of his own pocket

Eddie having a PPV every month would cost people £15+Sky Sports subscription, that isn't what I would call value for money.
Eddie knows what Sky pay for a show, it isn't like some sort of unknown cost, when putting the fight together, he knew exactly what the TV money would be, decided the profit going into his pocket wasn't big enough and shoved a load of fighters on there in easy fights in a vain attempt to justify a PPV. Frank won't be getting big TV money either and he's managed to put together a great show a week later.

The obvious point that people are missing is sky and Matchroom have MADE this card to appear PPV worthy with the hype and tantrums. They sold it to the casuals like some big grudge match when really neither has spoken about the other until recently.
Its a decent domestic fight between 2 declining fighters.
Eddie is on the boxing asylum pod tonight, I'm sure he will be asked about it.
