I felt Khan was boxing well in the first three rounds although the second could arguably been an even round. Canelo began to catch him in the fourth, really closed the gap in the fifth and from then on the end was obvious. Not only did Canelo bring more intensity to the table from the 4th round, but Khan then slowed down in the 5th and began making mistakes. Add those two things together and the KO was coming.
But that boy has my respect and has balls of steel. I think Brook is an embarrassment and his whole career has been full of promise but ended up one of wasted chances, easy options, and for some reason, just missing out on any significant fights. One good win versus someone like Porter does not make a great career. Porter was good, but he was not considered a P4P'er but at the time, arguably the 3rd best in the division, also arguably the 4th.
Khan has always given it a go, done what it takes to have the big fights, challenged himself and I hope he gets a comeback fight, clears his head, puts this behind him, then spanks Brook (and for years, I was not a Khan hater but certainly not a fan)

Khan was fucked at the end of the 4th round, he looked like he knew what was coming when he was back on his stool.

khan ran for 5 rounds and got iced in 6. he landed no punches of any consequence at any time. few flurries that barely landed. usain bolt would have had trouble catching up to khan tonight. yous idiots that had khan up 4 rounds amaze me......nearly as much as the idiots that think khan has been relevant even at welter. only thing left for khan is to go to the olympics and try and get gold against some young boys. hes got zero shame and i wouldnt put it past him..
now you can get on board with brook, our real welterweight champ. ithink kell would have done him quicker tonight.

Just watched the fight as didn't fancy an all nighter after all. Went exactly how most of us predicted it would - Khan looked good early until he slowed, then Canelo timed him & stopped him with a single shot. Enjoyable fight while it lasted, Khan is just far too fragile unfortunately.

I think you might be going a bit ott on Khan. For the last 3 years or so he has done sweet fa except sit on his hands and hope for a big fight. Before that, he was very careful about who he fought and every time he's stepped up in class he has been beaten.
He took a risk last night stepping up a weight to fight for a title 2 weights up and deserves credit for that but let's not pretend he's been taking on all comers. He's never rematched and opponent who has beaten him.
I'm not going to stick up for brook though.

Mate, it's got nothing to do with money for Khan. He doesn't need the money.
No, i dont think he needs it but i want him to take it.
Beating Garcia doesnt mean anything significant, he will just hold 1/4 of the world titles.
Brook is a huge "remember when" fight and he also gets to bank a ton of cash.
The time is now...

If Brook has another name fight lined up I'd tell Khan to bolt but I think it will happen now. Makes sense financially for both guys and Hearn seems to be struggling to get Brook a decent name. I don't know what's going on there.

brook doesnt deserve a fight with Khan purely cos of his attitude. he fights stiffs and knows Khan is an easier fight for him that the top names as Khan doesnt hit hard and has no chin. he also knows that he will earn retirement money from it. hes had three chances to fight someone with a pulse since winning a debateable decision against porter, his last so called defence was an insult to boxing. no doubt it now makes sense for Khan to do this but I hope he doesnt.

I'm not a big khan fan but I really felt for him last night. Stretched out like he was, it was not nice to see.
Brave lad and I hope he recovers from it.

If Khan didn’t get badly knocked out last night, then maybe fight Brook.
I think he’d beat Brook but not sure how that stoppage might affect him.
The thing is, that fight was made on $$$, it was a bad match up boxing wise and it went tits-up.
He got his return....if you can call it worth it....a big bag of cash, so I think he should walk away now after a very creditable career. Forget Brook, he doesn’t need him at all, it’s Brook who needed Khan.

how does a Canelo vs. BJS fight end?

Similar to last night. I'd actually be tempted to stick a few quid on Khan to beat BJS at middle.

Was thinking about this especially if Canelo ducks GGG and gets the belt stripped would he go after BJS. I think he could take him the distance

Khan still has plenty of options.
Golovkin or BJS at MW.
Cotto or Liam Smith at LMW.
Garcia, Vargas, Broner, Bradley or Thurman/Porter at WW.
He still holds the power in negotiations with Brook...

You could see the doubts creep in during the 5th and 6th. Canelo upped his workrate and Khan slowed slightly and it was game over.
Could hear Virgil in the corner shouting 'you can do it' etc cos you could visibly see Khan losing his way as Canelo was starting to land. As a 'speedster' from 2 weights below Khan should have been miles faster than Canelo for 6 rounds, but it just didn't really pan out like that, it wasn't even one random unlucky punch, Canelo just was fast enough and smart enough to land his punches from 5th round onwards - overall disappointing by Khan to fall so early, I was expecting he'd last until 9-10 when his legs went.

I'd agree Brook needs Khan more than the other way around. It's near impossible not to agree. I think Brook would KO Khan though and have done for a long time. I wouldn't be surprised if Khan chose to call it a day. It's hard to see where he goes from here. Greed and pride are both a big driving force so who knows. The way he was talking after the fight last night was he's coming back down to 147 but he might change his mind on reflection.

Buncey said something about this last night, and he hopes that 'he takes off the extra 25lbs he put on for this fight sensibly'
25lbs

That's a he'll of a lot to lose. I'm struggling to think of a fighter who has successfully dropped that much weight

That was the beginning of what has been a long ending to RJJ career wasn't it? After he went up to fight Ruiz for the Heavyweight title. Came back down to lightheavy and was a completely different fighter!

That has to be the single WORST decision anyone's ever made about their career, after Ruiz he had two (sensible) choices:
1. Retire
2. Cash in on a big money fight defence (I think both Tyson and Holyfield were in negotiated)
But instead
