Well it's a genuine step up in class of fighter which is what he needed at his stage of career. He's mixed it with some high level fighters, and gone some serious rounds so will be a genuine test for Fury. I don't think anyone actually expected a 'world class' opposition, so I think most will be satisfied.

I for one look forward to this one.

Bookies have Hughie 1/40 on to win the fight so it is not a step up in class as his fight last February was a step up in class.. this is a step backwards and even team fury know this but can't say it as it would not sell any tickets. .

Yeah but Anthony Joshua is odds on favourite against Haye, so I really wouldn't take much notice. The odds will reflect the market, not how comfortably they see him winning.

I however, do expect Hughie to win, but it will be a step up and a test. I think Hughie will win with a wide points decision.

Surely Joshua will be vacating the British title if he beats Martin? May as well just get himself in line for a shot at that.

this is not a step up in opponent..
Hughie fought radencko (not sure of spelling) last February so this is a step backwards
Even Eddie could not build this opponent up..

Hughie fought radencko (not sure of spelling) last February so this is a step backwards
Even Eddie could not build this opponent up..

Eddie built up Joshua's second to last opponent, a full time woodcutter from Scotland who had only beat 5 opponents with winning records and was stopped on his feet after 60 seconds.

This guy would be getting all kinds of props.

I think Rudenko is often overrated and I don't consider him a step above Aguilera. He obviously has a nicer looking record in terms of numbers, but he's fought far worse opposition and I wouldn't be surprised if he went 0-8 against the people who beat Aguilera (excluding the DQ loss). I'd also rank Aguilera's last win and the KO of Maskaev over any win Rudenko has scored, and although Rud gave Lucas Browne issues Julius fricking Long did the same not long after.

If Rudenko and Aguilera faced each other I imagine that it would be fairly competitive, and I'd give Aguilera a solid chance of winning.

Well it was Joshua's first unbeaten fighter, and for the commonwealth title. That said, I don't think there was a massive build up to that one. Very textbook.

Come on, this is not a step backwards. Aguilera may well not be a top 10 fighter, but he's a step up from Rudenko. Rudenko's biggest fight was a points defeat from Lucas Browne, whereas Aguilera has fought at least 4-5 at the same level, going the distance with 4. This means he brings a lot more experience against higher level fighters.

Just seen that his fight on 26th March is for the WBC International title that Joshua held until recently

16/1 on Aguilera. Might have a punt at those odds. Aguilera isn't very good but he's a stayer and Fury isn't a puncher and hardly amazing himself. If this can go late who knows what might happen.

I really like Hughie. He's young, got a lot to learn but if they're patient with him and don't rush him too soon I could easily see him developing into a top 10 heavyweight in 5-6 years. I've said it once but I'll say it again, I don't get the need to rush him. Aguilera is the perfect opponent at this stage. After that fights out the way, some domestic level opponents like Sexton would be excellent.

Not a bad fight given the circumstances. Guinn will be coming to survive, but it'll be a pretty high class sparring session for Fury that he gets paid and moved up the rankings a bit for.

If Haye doesn't dare it, perhaps Briggs

Briggs is looking to get in some UK fights. He's been bumming round with Eddie Hearn. Briggs wants a super fight, Hearn wants him undercard fodder. Personally I don't know where Briggs would get a super fight, but if he showed some mettle in a few fights he might trigger some interest.

I can imagine the public getting well behind a Briggs Fury match in the summer though.
