When I first heard about this fight I thought Spence would win easy, but now after watching recent youtube video of Spence hitting heavy bag [he looked very pedestrian doing so], and seeing Mikey Garcia's new buffed Physique I am picking Garcia by KO from Garcia precision punching and timing like a sharp shooter. I am sure Spence is now feeling the pressure of the fight.
Always dangerous to let yourself be brainwashed by what you see in videos.
Spence didn't gain his reputation (or championship) just because he might mysteriously look like a slacker on the heavy bag.
And Garcia isn't going to become an even more incredible fighter and monster puncher just because he's suddenly buffed.
Best to simply go by how they've looked in the ring during their careers and factor in Spence's physical advantages and experience at 147.

Sergey Lipinets fought a VERY competitive fight against Mikey and is not half the fighter Spence is. Also Easter had success in his fight against Mikey, and Broner had periods of success at the end of his fight with Mikey when he pressures Mikey. From what I've seen of tape of the two fighters recent fights, I do not see a path for Mikey to win this fight. He is good enough of a fighter to show a good account of himself early on in the fight, but as the fight goes on and Errol utilizes his precision offense on Mikey and the damage accumulates Mikey will wear down and will most likely be stopped in the mid to later rounds.

Is anyone here truly privy to what tactics Garcia intends to use against Spence?

Counter with a right over and over again. Spence doesn't move his head, is always in a position to be countered by a right, and never fixes that throughout a fight. Just so happens, he wears his opponents down. I found it odd how whenever Brook and Peterson through a right down the pipe (Mikey's best punch) they connected clean and even keep Spence off of them for a second.

The straight right fits a southpaw like a glove on a hand. I was thinking Garcia may want to fight up tight and close to negate Spence's power. Spence does like to maul. At range, Spence has the fight I think.

While Spence has a quick good jab and uses it often, he needs time to connect on it. He doesn't fight well at range as perceived. Brook was catching him at range while moving. It was only when he stopped moving and Spence got mid-range did Spence make his mark. Mikey is like Pacquiao where he prefers fighting on the outside or midrange despite being shorter. This could work to his advantage as Spence is average at out fighting.

If Garcia can pull that off against someone like Spence that would really be something remarkable and I honestly don't think we could find enough praise for him!

Some interesting comments, from what I’ve seen I’d agree that Spence hasn’t shown headmovment, preferring to come in with a tight guard. Agaisnt Brook he was on the front foot but had to turtle up, wearing some on the gloves and on the face. Dismantling Brook took some labour, he is a world champion however but the question as to how strong Brook was in that fight is also worth exploring or maybe that was post fight excuses.
Garcia is Spence’s best opponent but also his smallest I’d think. I believe Garcia will give him problems and it’ll go the distance but Spence in a close decision - that’s my prediction. I think that gives Garcia full benefit of the doubt. Pretty hard to find fault in both fighters though overall.

I heard a rather disturbing interview with Mikey recently on Jim Rome Show on CBS Sports Radio. Mikey mentioned that he was bulking up his weight and strength with the help of a training program with Victor Conte in northern California. If the name sounds familiar it could be die to the fact that Conte is a
convicted PED supplier. As a Garcia fan I really hope he's involved only with Conte's training program and not taking the PEDs.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Victor Conte has been sentenced to eight months as part of a plea deal for his role as mastermind behind a scheme to provide professional athletes with undetectable performance-enhancing drugs.
Conte, who will spend four months in prison and four months in home confinement, started the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative. The lab, according to court records, counted dozens of prominent athletes among its clients, including Barry Bonds, Jason Giambi, Marion Jones and others.

Geez! First I heard that! Conte's specialty was creating new product that stayed well ahead of the current day testing. This is not the best news I've heard. I wouldn't be surprised but I would be terribly disappointed with Garcia if any implication of PED use was true.

Conte was busted years ago with the whole BALCO. He did his time and has since been working with countless top athletes who have tested clean. Despite his dubious past, Conte remains one of the top guys in his field. I actually like the fact that Mikey is working with SNAC.

Me too. If I hadnt heard Mikey himself mention Conte's name in that interview I would have been skeptical. PED use would be a big letdown for me too since Mikey is one of my favorite fighters!!

Smart move by Mikey, probably the most knowledgeable active fighter in the world today.
Substance use, weight manipulation, staying one step ahead of the testers is where it's at, with the psychological edge thrown in for free.
Just the sheer number of those who have failed tests, in an era of slack testing, suggests this is the right move for Garcia.
You can bet he will need everything going to beat Spence, but can he do the unthinkable? Can he win? Have we been overrating Spence, whose best win may have been over a damaged Kell Brook? A Kell Brook who was winning the fight until the injury midway. Or is Spence a step too far.
Whatever happens this is a brave move from Garcia, trying to do a Leonard v Hagler. Only in this case, Spence might still be improving!

The other poster is correct. There are many athletes associated with SNAC, including Devon Haney and others. I hope it's legit. Balco was considered legit until the proverbial shvt hit the fan.
