Anelo is just fighting for a coddled belt. Tbh the smw division is poor atm. Charlo vs Benavidez/ Plant winner, BJS vs Andrade winner or Bivol vs Beterbiev winner would be good matches for Canelo.

So you’re not interested in seeing the Derevyanchenko rematch or for GGG to test himself against Charlo or Andrade?

You’d prefer Golovkin to take easier, less risky, options instead?

If the Canelo rematch doesn’t happen Cinco de Mayo 2021, then we might end up seeing GGG performing a voluntary against someone like Marcos Nader instead.

You might think I’m joking, but we’ve seen it before.

GGG previously chose to vacate his IBF title to face Martirosyan, instead of performing a mandatory defence against Derevyanchenko.

GGG also renounced his WBO mandatory challenger status to face the anonymous, unheralded and unaccomplished Steve Rolls rather than challenge for Demetrius Andrade's title.

Golovkin is a 38 y/o fighter. At this stage G needs less risky but lucrative fights to not damage his health. Munguia and Murata would be good fights for G.

Golovkin's resume is one of the best from the mw division. He fought Murray, IBF mw champion Lemieux, Jacobs, Canelo and Chenko. G doesn't need to prove himself anymore at this stage. Of course that Golovkin fought those top mw fighters when he was older and he wasn't in his prime/peak at that time.

All we know for sure is if GGG loses eo will have a no hands gasm.

It was always going to be a win-win situation for me, because GGG did his upmost to engage in a mismatch.

And if he won incredibly easily, which he did, then all he achieved was to perfectly satisy my prediction.

If he won a competitive fight, then he would have proven me wrong, but also demonstrated the fact he was horrendously past-his-prime.

And had Szeremeta defied the odds by scoring the upset, then I would have been absolutely delighted, regardless about being proven wrong, because it would have meant that GGG’s decision to engage in an awful mismatch (one that he asked the IBF to mandate) would have backfired!!!

Genuine fans of the sport of boxing wouldn’t have endorsed GGG’s decision to engage in a mismatch, but many sadly did.

A typical Golovkin fight against a typical Golovkin's opponent.

Such fights prove, that Golovkin is still there and the Jacobs, Canelo and Derev bouts weren't indicating any signs of Golovkin's decline. It was just fights against the better opponents.

Szeremeta was about the same as all of them rosados, stevenses, murrays, lemieuxes, etc, etc, etc.

Hopefully the big drama showman faces Charlo next.
