Got flattened apparently, rare for him. Never heard of Kossobutskiy.
Ya, not usually battered like that

First I heard of Zhan was last year when he flattened unbeaten Agron Smackici in a round. Heavy handed guy and with good amateur background.
Medals in any major competitions?

Is there a decent website to check amateur records? Seems on here they tend to be incomplete to say the least.

Looking at his boxrec amateur record he clearly fought at elite level.

Holds a win over super heavyweight world champion and Olympic Medallist Majidov.

Also has a victory over Vassily Levit ( the real gold medallist at 91kg in Rio) and lost a decision to Magomed Omarov in 2013 ... Omarov was beating everyone that year.

So he is a top level guy who never quite got the luck of the draw to medal at the top competitions. Plenty of those in the old Soviet countries. ( Lebedev / Kovalev for example )

Ya, also check how much he fought internationally at the non major tournaments (lots of good fighters still compete in those), has a deep background and got international representation time, but when you come from one of these amateur powerhouses you often have multiple world top end amateurs to face just within your country to even get into those big ones

a few years ago until they changed olympic qualification process, you'd get guys from countries of the former soviet union and stuff have like multiple world level boxers just within the one countrry, then whoever came through that would have to face a bunch of other world level guys in the international qualiyfing of their region. meanwhile the aussies just had to beat a few random pacific islandsers and would qualify nearly their whole squad as a result

Over in the asbolutely talented stacked Cuba too, guys Luis Ortiz and Dorticos could only win nationals like 1 time out of 7-8 tries, but now have been world level in their divisions as pros.

Found highlights from the 2013 Universiade final Omarov beat Kossobutskiy on points unanimously.

Kossobutskiy looks more like a 91kg fighter size wise in that fight.

Only 3 advertised fights on the bill, I doubt anything decent will be added either. Must be the worst ever value PPV yet ?

Press Release | Cullen-Chelli added to Whyte-Povetkin undercard

Jack Cullen and Zak Chelli will meet over ten rounds in a super middleweight contest on the undercard of Dillian Whyte’s heavyweight fight against Alexander Povetkin at Matchroom Fight Camp in Brentwood, Essex, on Saturday August 22nd. Cullen (18-2, 9 KOs) was involved in a thrilling toe-to-toe war with Felix Cash in November last year, falling short in an explosive battle for the Commonwealth title. Chelli (7-1, 3 KOs) outpointed Umar Sadiq in his fifth pro bout before suffering his first defeat at the hands of Welshman Kody Davies last time out up at light heavyweight.

Both men will be looking to impress on the big stage and move ahead in the 168-pound domestic scene that contains the likes of British and Commonwealth Champion Lerrone Richards, Zach Parker and heavy-handed Scot John Docherty.

Cullen vs. Chelli lands on a huge night of action that sees Whyte defend his WBC interim belt vs. Povetkin, Irish legend Katie Taylor (15-0, 6 KOs) put her world lightweight crowns on the line against Belgium’s Delfine Persoon (44-2, 18 KOs) in the biggest rematch in women’s boxing and Luther Clay (13-1, 5 KOs) faces Chris Kongo (11-0, 6 KOs), with more fights to be confirmed soon.

Whyte could be Fury's next opponent now with Fury Wilder 3 being pushed back to next year, assuming he wins on Aug. 22. Or, Jose Sulaiman says, Fury can fight Joshua, or anybody he wants as he has a full year to fulfill the Whyte mandatory. :oo

Frank sounds so desperate. Fury is not going to get a 50:50 split without bringing a belt to the table and I'm sure Hearn would prefer an in-house unification crowning one of his fighters as the first undisputed HW champ to hold the four main belts before dictating his terms for future opponents and the division as a whole.

Pulev: I Hope Povetkin Wins, Whyte Talks So Much Bullsh-t!

"It is a very interesting fight, they are both very good boxers. Povektin was a very good amateur. We know professional boxing is different and we know Whyte is a 100 percent professional boxer. I’m 50-50 but I hope Povetkin wins because I know him personally and he’s a really good man who does not talk too much," Pulev told Betway Insider.

"On the other hand, Dillian Whyte talks so much bullsh-t. He is always twisting things up and talking bullsh-t; talking talking, talking too much. I don’t like this."

"I want to fight Whyte after I win with AJ, I want to fight with Dillian Whyte and I want to show him a very special KO. I promise him that," Pulev said.

Whyte is favourite on youth and recent form, of course, but I think there's a good chance Povetkin stops him mid-rounds.

Even against Hunter, once Povetkin got past the wobbly start, he was lighting him up with quick combos and hurt him badly at points. Whyte starts slow, can easily be out-sped and is vulnerable to the left hook in exchanges (see the Parker fight). Moreover, against a guy as well-schooled as Povetkin, you need someone with a lot of experience to tell the boxer how to adjust to what he's going to bring - e.g. the very experienced Tibbs. I'm not yet convinced Xavier Miller is that guy, though this fight might well be his proving!

WBC's prestigious 'Diamond' belt also at stake when Dillian Whyte battles Alexander Povetkin

The WBC's prestigious 'Diamond' belt will also be at stake when Dillian Whyte battles Alexander Povetkin in the finale of 'Fight Camp'.

Whyte defends his WBC 'interim' heavyweight title against Povetkin on August 22, live on Sky Sports Box Office, and the governing body will also present the WBC 'Diamond' belt to the winner in recognition of the fight's significance.

The Brixton man risks his status as the WBC mandatory challenger, with the WBC confirming that the winner of Tyson Fury's expected third fight with Deontay Wilder must defend the WBC belt against Whyte in early 2021.

The WBC have created their first ever WBC 'Diamond' belt for a heavyweight bout, and past recipients of the title include Filipino star Manny Pacquiao following his 12th round stoppage of Miguel Cotto in November 2009.

"I'm very excited about it," WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman told Sky Sports. "I believe that this fight has all the merits for the WBC to award the prestigious 'Diamond' belt.

"Both are sensational fighters. Povetkin and Whyte are former 'Silver' champions of the WBC. They have been training in extreme circumstances and they are very professional.

"The WBC is delighted to be part of the fight as the WBC 'interim' championship and also to award the 'Diamond' belt, which is a special trophy to recognise this great bout."

Whyte had previously welcomed a fight against Fury for the WBC 'Diamond' belt in May 2019, but his British rival instead fought Tom Schwarz in Las Vegas that summer.

On the same night as Whyte-Povetkin, Ireland's Katie Taylor defends her WBC, IBF, WBA and WBO lightweight belts against Delfine Persoon in a hotly anticipated rematch at Matchroom Boxing's Brentwood base.

Diamond? Interim?

Isn't it already for the Interim? Doesn't Interim kinda mean (in WBC's terms, not WBA) that you're more or less waiting to be announced as champion or definitely next in line for a shot.

Honesty, who gives a toss. You’ll give yourself an aneurism trying to work out the various levels of titles floating around.

I try to ignore all of the interim/regular/diamond bollocks and focus on the full title holders only (probably too many of those as well) however even that is getting more difficult with the 'franchise' nonsense now. Trying to explain the number of titles to a more casual fan is next to impossible nowadays.
