He did ‘beat’ Ruiz for the WBA title as well, for what that’s worth.
Yeah fair call another one he looked in that spectacular hits-him-when-he-wants/ can’t-be-hit-with-a-bag-of-sand kind of form

I think some of it with Toney’s inconsistency was the style matches. Looked sensational against people who came at him, less so against runners.

We'll see. I think Joyce had a far harder opponent in front of him in Jennings than Dubois had in a fat, inexperienced Gorman who was built up to be something he wasn't just because of who he was related to. Joyce has regularly been up against it and prevailed while Dubois hasn't had that. He's always been on top. People's memories are short: nobody cares that Joe deserved that gold medal far more than Joshua and is a relentless motherfucker. Neither are that hard to hit. It'll be a good fight, but unless these six months or so that Joe will have had sitting on the shelf has had a serious effect on him as an ageing fighter, he's going to do Dubois serious damage like he's never experienced before. In a war of attrition, Joyce comes out on top.

With regards to Froch, that epic Gloves are Off for the Groves rematch and just being there and seeing him poleaxe George like that was one of the most thrilling moments in a live boxing match I've ever experienced. He'd have to do something really awful for me to do a u-turn on him. Genuinely hard man who fought a lot of better boxers and still beat them. I also do think he's a troll and says a lot of stuff to wind people up. I think he's funny. Sh*t commentator though.

I could see either Joyce or Dubois winning I don’t think either could be clear favourite?

Well, it's supposed to be an unpopular opinion, so me being confident enough in Joyce to bet on him by stoppage (money returned by the bookies, by the way) isn't the way most of the forum feels.

Me too. Dubs' power is real and Slo-joe ain't hard to find.

Ya, basically, for Joe to win as I see it, he needs some Wach level chin, and for Dub to tank on stamina, and then have enough left himself to take over. Joe will basically need to be able to take a beating, because that's what will happen while Dubs is fresh

You're the only one that calls him this and it is beyond cringe. What does it even mean?

Wasn't it you that kept on pushing for Joe to fight walking punch bag Dom Breazeale saying they were carbon copies of each other? Mrs. Thatcher, I'm afraid I have to question your ability to assess a fighter's skill set, though no offence intended madam. You have been dead for several years, after all.

Also... "Ya, you're cooky bruhster"? Eh? Are you South African? What does that mean? Sounds like lyrics from a Die Antwoord song!

"Dubstep, bruh"

I'm getting a mental image of a shirtless white American frat boy circa 2006 wearing his cap backwards, drinking out of a red cup on Molly at a keg party with Skrillex playing.

There was a pretty much open acknowledgement he messed up the weight and approach for the Jones fight. He was gassing badly in that fight. He fought the guy a second time and did a pretty thorough job on him, lesson learned case. What I'd now question is was that a case of his lifestyle only being the problem or should that have been taken as an example that he would have been better off moving up a division.

I think he sees the good in a lot of white people at the same time as feeling victimised by racists, making him a transient racist depending on what sort of day he's having when you catch him. Same goes for Wilder.

Is Benn beating Froch unpopular? Can't remember the consensus, but I know it's come up a few times. I'll go with it, anyway: I think Benn outdoes him up close. This is the later Benn of the Eubank rematch.
A fast start is the way to beat Froch. Nobody managed it but Benn would have. He would have absolutely mullered Froch silly in the first round. It would have looked like a mix of Benn's fight with Barkley but worse, with an ending similar to Hopkins final exit from the ring.

I'm never quite sure if Benn carried that power up to SM, just my opinion but I think Froch would probably have battered him in an entertaining brawl. But sticking to the subject, not sure if this is hugely unpopular but might be, I think Golovkin stops Froch similar to the Murray fight.

Ringside tickets are a waste of money often the balcony is better value and view

Mick Hennessy could have been one of the world's top promoters if he wasn't so disorganized

Ian Lewison coulda been a great and his amateur wins over Solis and Helenius are totally legit, since Steve Goodwin said he watched them on tape. They aren't both bullshitters.

Certainly true of York Hall. The upper level is always cheaper and in my view is the best view in boxing.

Why is it so hot in the hall? To me it's dangerously hot for the combatants.

The extra few seconds gives the ref a chance to check if they are. It's a good way of hopefully avoiding the really bad KOs (although in that case the ref messed it up, so it's not foolproof)
That’s boxing. Don’t pretend there haven’t been any brutal and dramatic kos since the 8 count was brought in. The fighter gets up - the ref takes a look then lets it carry on or stops it. It’s not hugely difgerent. The 8 second mandatory count plus the Long check and question asking once they’re up means 12-14 seconds passes before action resumes. Which lets a fighter recover more and, if you want to play the safety angle means he’s more likely to take a longer beating as he’s had time to recover. If a ref can’t see if a fighter is ready as soon as he gets up and looks in his eyes he’s incompetent. Boxing will always have a dangerous element in it - why not 16 ounce gloves, compulsory head guards, only 5 rounds etc? The mandatory 8!count has no safety advantage.
You know what the funny thing is? I had a teacher in high school named Eddie Nielson! LOL. and he as once more or less famous too, he had a few songs on the radio during the 60's in Puerto Rico....

(note to readers: Im talking about the Frank Bruno-Eddie Nielson bout on the original post's video, which for sime reason did not show on this post right here)

Doesn't it have a swimming pool and gym in it? I've never quite been bothered to see where it is when I've been there for the boxing.

Whilst the balcony is a great view, you can't turn your nose up at a genuine ringside seat. You can literally touch the canvas and it's easily the closest you'll get to the ring in a ringside seat. Not like those stupidly overpriced ringside or VIP experiences elsewhere, where you're miles back.

The Blue Horizon had a similar set-up.

Yeah the York hall has a proper swimming pool attached to it.
