Andy has a solid chin
Arreola is 40, shot, and doesnt have 1 shot power.
Arreola doesnt do anything better than ruiz and didnt in his prime let alone now
Ruiz looks in better shape

Need more?
Yes please.

What do you think Ruiz will weigh in at ?

For Arreola it's the last chance saloon isn't it.
An unexpected win will almost guarantee him a title shot would it not ?
Ruiz may be around 255
Ruiz was 284 last time out, a loss of 29 pounds to make 255.
Arreola was 244.
Both fights are awhile ago though.
Still dwelling on it I suppose.

Arreola and Ruiz Jr. have both definitely lost an awful lot of weight for this weekend's bout.

To be fair, an overweight iteration of the very durable Chris Arreola threw an astonishing (and also record-breaking) 1,125 punches during the course of his bout against Adam Kownacki.

And it’s clear he’s trained hard and looks slimmer and in much better shape for the Ruiz Jr. fight.

It’ll be fascinating to see how an in-shape 255lbs version of Andy Ruiz Jr. copes against a physically fit opponent like Arreola that doesn’t know how to take a backward step.

Arreola and Ruiz Jr. are both durable fleshy Californian-Mexican heavyweights with crowd-pleasing fighting styles.

Both men are large, physically strong, aggressive "stalk-‘til-they-can't walk" fighters deemed as big punchers.

I will definitely watch the fight, because it'll be entertaining (while it lasts) and also action-packed.

It seems the weight is the only intrigue in this fight.

What is a "Par" result for any ruiz in this fight?
id say 4th or 5th round stopage. Gets it done quicker its a good preformance, Later its poor, no stopage at all its bad, and if he manages to lose then he should just eat snickers for a living..

Press Release | Undercard Information

Granados vs. Sanchez, Negron vs. Scott

An action-packed lineup of undercard attractions will enter the ring as part of a card headlined by former unified heavyweight champion Andy “The Destroyer” Ruiz Jr. taking on all-action Chris “The Nightmare” Arreola in the FOX Sports PBC Pay-Per-View main event this Saturday, May 1 from Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

Portions of the undercard will be broadcast for free on the FOX Sports app and FOXsports.com starting at 4:40pm ET/1:40 p.m. PT. The undercard feed will also be made available to the PBC on FOX YouTube, Twitter and Facebook pages. Ray Flores and Félix DeJesús will be on the call.

Undercard attractions will feature hard-hitting Adrian “El Tigre” Granados in an eight-round welterweight bout against Jose Sanchez, Puerto Rican Olympian Carlos Negron taking on Scott Alexander in an eight-round heavyweight clash, rising prospect Fernando Molina facing Prisco Marquez in a lightweight fight and unbeaten prospect Anthony Garnica dueling Jesse Bazzi for four-rounds of featherweight action.

The event is promoted by TGB Promotions. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at AXS.com. Dignity Health Sports Park will be open to fans in a limited capacity, with all guests remaining socially distanced and subject to local and state health guidelines throughout the event.

The FOX Sports Pay-Per-View begins at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. Preceding the pay-per-view, FOX PBC Fight Night will begin at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT and be headlined by WBA Super Welterweight Champion Erislandy “The American Dream” Lara seeking a third title in a second weight class when he takes on Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna for the WBA Middleweight Title.

Granados (21-8-2, 15 KOs) has battled a slew of accomplished super lightweights and welterweights over the course of his career including Shawn Porter, Adrien Broner, Danny Garcia and most recently Robert Easter Jr. in October 2019. The 31-year-old from Mexico City, Mexico owns an upset knockout victory over then-unbeaten Amir Imam and returned to the ring in February 2020 to stop Arturo Herrera in two rounds. He will be opposed by Albuquerque, New Mexico’s Sanchez (11-1, 4 KOs), who owns a nine-fight winning streak heading into this step up against the veteran Granados. The 28-year-old has fought professionally since 2012 and delivered three victories in 2019, including a fifth-round TKO of Joe Gomez.

A 2008 Olympian from Villalba, Puerto Rico, Negron (22-3, 18 KOs) fights out of Miami, Florida and enters this bout the winner of back-to-back contests. Negron stopped the previously unbeaten Robert Alfonso in March 2020, before most recently knocking out Rafael Rios in November 2020. He faces the 32-year-old Alexander (16-3-2, 8 KOs), who has also won back-to-back fights entering May 1. The Los Angeles-native Alexander has won four of his last five fights overall dating back to 2016.

The 18-year-old Molina (5-0, 3 KOs) first turned pro in August 2019, scoring stoppage victories in his first two fights, before a successful U.S. debut saw him defeat Jose Zaragoza by decision in November 2020. A native of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, Molina most recently stopped James De Herrera in the first-round in January of this year. He squares off against Marquez (4-2-1, 1 KO), who fights out of Liberal, Kansas and is entering the fight off of decision losses to then-unbeaten fighters Arnold Dinong and Christopher Zavala.

Representing his hometown of San Francisco, California, Garnica (5-0, 3 KOs) returns to the ring after his last bout saw him score a decision victory over Luis Alvarado in February 2020. The 20-year-old delivered knockouts in three of his first four fights after turning pro in October 2018. He takes on the 29-year-old Bazzi (1-1) from Dearborn, Michigan. Bazzi turned pro in 2021 with a win over Andre Marquez before dropping a March contest to Francisco Javier Martinez.

Regardless of whatever happened during the first AJ bout, Andy Ruiz Jr. is a calm, heavy-handed durable technician who wears down his opponents using a combination of sustained moderate pressure and excellent punch variety.

He’s not the kind of guy that throws caution to the wind, by recklessly emptying the proverbial tank, whilst seeking to force an early stoppage. It’s just not his style.

Simply put, he doesn’t have Julian Jackson or Deontay Wilder one-hitter-quitter type punching power. Instead, he’s more of a "stalk-‘til-they-can't walk" Chavez Sr. styled patient grinder.

And whenever Ruiz Jr. does stop his opponents (based on everything that’s transpired within the last five years), it usually takes him four or five rounds before his sustained pressure starts taking its toll.

So bearing that in mind, whilst accepting the fact that Arreola is pretty durable (or at least he used to be, since he’s now forty years of age and only fought once within the last couple of years), then I believe that Ruiz Jr. scoring a mid-to-late rounds stoppage would be a completely acceptable outcome for me.

Arreola’s high work rate and aggression will very likely result in him being competitive during the first three or four rounds, but he’ll ultimately fade as Ruiz Jr. gradually imposes himself, before the referee eventually intervenes and rescues an exhausted Chris during the second half of the bout (between rounds seven to ten).

Let's not forget that Ruiz Jr. has only stopped four of the twelve opponents he’s faced within the last 6½ years. We can't ignore historical reality.

So it would be naïve to expect Andy to stop an on-form iteration of Chris Arreola fairly quickly - that would be raising the bar of expectations unreasonably high.

Valid points, but I just think arreola is very easy to hit (did he break the record for most times hit in a fight for a heavyweight last fight? Had to go close), old, taken a lot of punishment, and has been inactive for 2 years, was never good.. True he has been tough, and Ruiz isn’t the biggest puncher out there, But I think he should have enough to get this done fairly early. Even if it’s a retirement or standing stoppage.

We will see how in shape Andy is on fight night I guess. From the final presser photos he looks a little bigger in the shoulders and biceps.
Maybe he is still a little tubby around the middle, can he keep it sucked in through an entire face to face?

from looking at the pics, ruiz defo looked fatter for the final presser photos for the aj rematch. defo seems to have lost weight from that

looks more like he did for the first fight, at a slim 268

my guess is he weighs somewhere around 265. considering his biggest win came around 268, he may think his weight should hover around that mark id guess

Chris showed some sprirt last time out. He definitely trained harder than what we are used to from him.
If Andy has been a good lad, and word is he has been doing what is asked of him.
Well, it might be entertaining but no way am I paying for it.

I have to admit that is a very good point. Other than Joshua, Ruiz has no wins of any substance although I always give him plaudits for the controversial Parker defeat which for me confirmed his place at the top table.

Andy said he weighed 257lbs about ten days ago. He expects to be weighing in the region of 255lbs this weekend.

10lbs only represents 3% of Andy's body weight, so I think that he'll look similar to photos taken when he was 265lbs, regardless as to whether he actually weighed 255lbs or 275lbs.... if you know what I mean.
