Think Joshua will learn his lesson and avenge the loss like he did with his last loss. He hasn't the fire in his belly to have a sustained run of victories wiping the floor with all comers. He is blessed with physique through conditioning, yet his mind is not conditioned to fighting. So yeah, he just never turned out to be as good a fighter as our minds convinced us he was going to be.

Yes - I made another thread on it - distinct impression its on Dazn. My feeling is (although denied) that as soon as AJ signed for Matchroom for life that meant TV also. Don't think EH could say that with the AJ vs Usyk on Sky the next day "this is his last fight on sky" isn't good.

No, I remember when he was fighting Gassiev, he was very reluctant to fight in Moscow.. There was quite a delay in getting the fight across the line.

I don’t know I hadn’t thought about it much. Most wars seem to be about power and money not people and nations. I’m not sure what the true situation is in this case. But I doubt Ukraine would risk such a star in actual combat. Has Usyk said anything about the conflict or his position? Also has Ukraine installed conscription? For me these conflicts make me sad….. I just don’t believe in war as a resolution to anything. Call me naive but the mass slaughter of young people on the orders of politicians make me feel sad…..

There would be no comparable example in modern times (that I can think of anyway) where a major power has launched airstrikes and rolled in tanks to go to war with a nation where a top ranked boxer is a citizen. Schmeling in WW2 is the best example I can think of. If tanks roll in and bombs are dropped and there is serious resistance from Ukraine why wouldn't he volunteer? I think he would. Vitali and Wlad have already joined the reserve.

Don't underestimate the severity of this. Hopefully diplomacy wins out and/or the West is overstating Putin's intentions but if he invades and heads for Kyiv there will be Ukrainians dying in their thousands. Men, women and children. If they choose to resist as a nation that will become tens of thousands very quickly. The West are already talking about backing an insurgency. This isn't like Vietnam where Ali didn't want to fight. This would be Usyk's own country. I don't see how he couldn't get involved in that. He's not the type of man not to.

Well I hope it doesn’t get to that. To my understanding there are plenty of Ukrainian citizens who are of Russian ancestry and want their area to be under Russian rule. I am not sure why Putin wants to invade, if in fact he actually wants to rather than just show his strength. Also the Western media seem to want war - all the narrative is anti Russian and it makes me suspicious. Not that Putin nor any head of government can be trusted. They’re usually pawns of the global powerbrokers.

Put the high level politics to one side, it's beyond our pay scale.

I will say now for the record that if a full scale invasion is launched on Ukraine, Usyk will vacate. He moved from his hometown to Kyiv when Russia annexed it, so he obviously wasn't best pleased, to say the least. If you are a non-Pro-Russian Ukrainian of fighting age and your fellow citizens are getting slain (and you are a man of Usyk's character) you will walk away from your sport and get involved.

Second that , When i was employing i just could'nt get over how thick most of the kids were , lucky for some of them because i left school at 13 and really am self taught on my LTD education ,, when looking for apprentces i did'nt put a lot of stock on wether or not they knew what pie r square was ,, I just gave everyone a chance , and watched there work ethic ... Revisiting this a week after my last post and the Russians have invaded and Usyk has, according to sources, indeed signed up to fight. I would be staggered if he boxed this year, if at all. Joshua should move on. If this drags on for in excess of 12 months, likely, Usyk should be made champion in absentia.

Yeah, fornicate knows what Hearn was thinking when he claimed the Ukraine situation wouldn’t affect the Joshua fight. No chance it happens anytime soon.
