Really poor Sky show. None of the 4 fights were competitive whilst the fight that 90% of us on here knew would be the pick of the night was left to Facebook.

Hughie looked decent but I don’t think Hammer was injured. He quit to avoid taking a sustained beating.

Eubank looked awful early doors and his opponent didn’t look great although he landed a few nice right hands. As soon as Eubank started to throw more than single shots his opponent quit.

Marshall looked fairly good. You could tell though in the first round that her opponent just panicked in the first and there was no way she’d survive more than a couple of rounds.

Steve Robinson - reminded me of Tom Dallas. Big lad, will be fun but will lose his first meaningful fight.

Sky are spending a lot of money promoting the boxing, they’re putting it on as many platforms as possible and spending cash on advertising - they need better quality fights to make people continue watching.

Very poor show alright.
I don't hold the A side boxers responsible, it was easy beat matchmaking at its worst.
Sky didn't put 1/2 the push on Eddie's cards that they did on this one, and now they get casual viewers tuning in to that crap. Talk about bad for boxing. When will promotors and matchmakers learn that fans want close fights, they don't care about the stupid "0".

Sky learning that broadcasting isn't the same as promoting.

Embarrassing stuff

No doubt.

Both will fight on same card in December.

Hasnt Shields got an MMA fight this month?
Kal Yafai looks like being on that card as well.
In B’ham..

He no longer with Matchroom as well?

Marshall opponent was Sunday League at best. Would rather the shields fight be on the Eubank - Williams ppv it that happens. Not sure there will be much interest in a Marshall - Shields ppv main event would have to be a really strong card.

They are going to marinate it. Pointless because there isnt another fight for either of them, so fans have to suffef them both on the same bill, fighting knock overs, and not fighting each other. Which lessens the value of Marshall Shields, not enhances it

Exactly.

Especially if Shields loses in her MMA match.

Even though it's not boxing losing any kind of fight kind of takes away the shine from the clash of unbeaten champions.

Looking at the production and also matchrooms - I am showing my age, but I long for the old german suareland mega shows that used to have the string quartet doing the anthems - or the between match entertainment was just a classy one like Christina Perri doing Jar of Hearts and leave it as that - the ticker clock in the announcements, the DJ and blooming sweet caroline is really doing my nut now - have it for the live crowd but then get a studio then so we can hear the analysis.

It's a boxing match Stu.
A boxing match that had one good fight on Facebook early, then 2 quitters, and an out matched woman's fight as the main event, and your concerned about string quartets and sweet flippin caroline? :witzend:

Seems that way. He posted something about seeing you in December after they mentioned about their Birmingham show.

I don’t think Matchroom ever promoted Kal that well. Always a bit tougher with the smaller guys but there were enough good/decent other midlands fighters to push it. Also Kal suffered a bit with inactivity.

Surely that puts Boxxer in prime position to sign Gal Yafai?!

Talking about how he finished him while Yoka, Ortiz and Povetkin couldn't... Embarrassing

Career best victory for Hughie via injury.

Tyson was considered a non puncher under Peter. I know it will never happen but would a change in trainers (Sugar Hill etc) and the extra weight give Hughie a greater chance of winning a world title?
I really can't see how Hughie can progress above Euro level with his current style.

I’m not sure. I think Hughie need to throw more and be on the front foot in fights and he was last night. Hopefully it continues.

I don’t think regardless of his trainer he’ll ever be top 3/4 of the division. If the belts splinter then he may pick one up but it’ll be more like a Charles Martin title pick up.

I'd like to hear the interviews and hear what the fighters thought yes. Think it would have been nice to have heard some analysis if Eubank has regressed under RJJ. ...I think he has considerably....Fighters interviews being drowned out by a DJ was flipping annoying

With matching like this the results were entirely predictable, so I guess they got what they wanted.

Nevertheless it does demonstrate how different it is to promote a show compared to broadcasting it.

If you read the sky news website you would think that it was the rumble in the jungle last night.
