I’ve said it before - I think Dubois deserves credit for getting through that Lerena fight, it should have been an easy night that quickly turned into a nightmare.
Had that initial punch not skimmed the top of his head and momentarily stunned him, which lead to the knee injury, I doubt he’d have had any difficulty in walking the Lerena down and bombing him out.
Usyk is an excellent (albeit ageing) boxer, but he definitely ain’t superman. I think this is a cracking little match up.
I really don’t understand this Dubois love in! Beating Lerena isn’t really impressive under any circumstance!
Usyk is levels above! But you know your stuff and I’m always getting things wrong so who knows! :-)

not one card for del though. what's the average you think? 117-111 usyk or so?
On the official cards, two had it 115-113, a one round swing and it's a draw.

All my gym moles had it a draw.
Makes it all the more amazing as to why Fury ducked Usyk. The man's (Usyk) virtually a carbon copy of Chisora. If only Fury would fight him, he would toy with him, then beat him in the rematch, then again in a historical trilogy fight. It's all about that 'If' though.

Correct. I didn't argue with the result, either. It could have gone either way.

Yeh. Chisora won 2 rounds. 3 is the absolute max and thats being kind.
have to agree and there was a point in the later rounds where usyk was peppering chisora til he wobbled and a KO seemed to be there for the taking but usyk just backed off for some reason .
pretty clear win for me and I dont recall any huge controversy at the time other than chisora of course for a day or so .

yeh, Some of Sky, Bellew and Hearn all saying it was close.
Mostly because of Bellew, shouting and the empty arena.

Weirdly enough it's the "Matchroom FC" fans who think it was a robbery but also those who treat Fury like a prophet because they're trying to belittle his opponent. The unbiased fans can see it for what it was.

Chisora didn’t win a single round after the 3rd. . 117-111 Usyk all day long. Let Chisora run out of steam in the first 3 rounds & then beat him up for 9 rounds.
Tony Bellew & Dave Coldwell been pundits & cheerleading their mate is the reason why some scored it closer than that.

It WAS close, but just not in rounds.
I didn't think Usyk would be big enough to handle AJ because - while he was never troubled as in losing vs Del - he
did struggle with Del's strength and physicality. Or at least appeared to..
With hindsight he was going easy on Del.
Not "carrying him" or anything like that, just staying in closer than he needed to - to acclimatise to HW - not engaging top gear, going for the finish etc. He wanted to do 12 rounds with a rough, tough heavy basically - so he did and it made the fight look competitive.
He was way, way better vs AJ x2.

“A carbon copy of Chisora”?
I agree
Why wouldn’t Fury fight him?
All those hoops to jump through? Jumped
All those financial demands ? Met
Makes no sense
It beggars belief tbh

Let's get it right FFS...Usyk trounced Chisora.
Good effort from Del Boy, but he wasn't in Oleksandr's class.

Carbon copy - one of those tongue in cheek* comments (they're prevalent round here, quite infectious), si7dog7.
I guess when all is said and done, Usyk will always be remembered for refusing to grant HW gatekeeper Chisora a rematch after the 'close' contest they had in Usyk's 2nd fight at HW.
Contrast that to his now HW rival, former unified HW champion, 7 year Lineal HW champion, current WBC HW champion, who, not only gave Chisora a rematch, but then also offered him a historical trilogy fight and crack at the WBC title.
The difference in their mentalities is there for all to see. It's been quite a telling time in the HW division of late.
*oops!

Alex Krassyuk, today told Boxing Social that the teams were still in discussion as they awaited action from the WBA.
“We are waiting for WBA to set up the day of the purse bids. Meanwhile we are taking efforts to reach an agreement.”

Urgh!
The heavyweight division is so frustrating these days. Literally no one of any decent ranking is actually fighting

And people say I shouldn't want the Joyce Zhang rematch, but at least that is an actual heavyweight fight that
will happen
All the rest of them are sitting on their arses in their late 30's to early 40's and for what?

I would be expecting a stoppage win for Usyk. I don't think Dubois is that good. A few brutal KO's against can's did get me going and feeding into the hype a bit but I think we have another David Price here. I fell for that hype a bit too.
