Pretty disappointing night with the only highlight it being finished by 10pm so within my bed time. CBS got an early Xmas present and it would be nice to see what was actually wrong with Masternak.
The rest was pretty poor, Lauren Price sends me to sleep and Whittaker needs to start having points deducted in fights as that is all pretty disrespectful. It's not like he's even entertaining and all he does is act like a dick
It was a poor undercard. Whittaker as co-main and Lauren Price before him.

I don’t mind Whittaker as he goes for the finish but leave the fancy ring walks and messing around in the ring for big fights - not against essentially a journeyman.

I wish they’d used the budget on his ring entrance for a better opponent. The guy had previously fought 4 people with winning records and only won one of them. I thought he was a step back from his previous opponent.

It wouldn’t bother me as much but it was co-main after Lauren Price had won every second against her opponent.

Luckily CBS had another good fight. I wasn’t able to watch live as my wife wanted to watch I’m a celeb and I’d already watched loads of sport over the weekend. Not sure it’s a great idea going on a Sunday if you’re directly head to head with one of the biggest audience drivers of the year.

Last show of the year on SKY/TNT was a poor one and sums up the year especially for SKY.

Just hope 2024 gives us better fights and shows

I could be wrong but I think on regular Sky Sports, Boxxer gave us just 4 shows from July 2nd to the end of the year. 2 at York Hall (Caroline headlined a NextGen, Chamberlain/Lawal the other), Azim in Wolverhampton and then CBS last week night.

It’s probably the worst 6 months on regular Sky Sports for U.K. boxing that I can remember.

wasnt a strong champions performance - in fact more like an inexperienced novice with a poor defence although he did say masternak had no power which was why he was walking in like that .
But he had enough to cause a decent cut above the eye and be ahead on points !

CBS is easy to hit - too easy really and based on that will lose to either Riakhpore or Opetaia .

But as long as he gets well paid maybe thats enough at his age .

Opetaia takes him apart on that showing.
He takes him apart on any showing .
Just hope CBS gets a good payday for it .
It'll surely be The Midnight Train :maybe: next - bigger money less risk for both.

Can do it on Bournemouth vs Palace day if possible.
That would be a better more competitive fight, let's hope it is .

After following CBC for a couple of years, he is definitely entertaining.
His fights are a seesaw. Just when you think he is too slow/chinny/exhausted/out gunned the bloody guy pulls out a win!
What's the expression?
"Snatching victory from the jaws of defeat"
Bloody awesome from a fan point of view.
That sums up CBS for me. Its been a fun ride, but surely it has to come to an end?

It probably will and very soon , what would worry me if i was his dad , was listening to Shanes advice at one stage , CBC is stopping every right hand with his head , Masternak , was just simply throwng a left right , left right , and landing the right hand all the time ,

Shanes advice in the corner ,, was it ,, WHAT THE FOOK YA DOING , move your head Nope ,,, Was it you know its left right coming at you , parry or stop the left , slip the right and rip or hook Nope , was it move to your right and negate his right hand , Nope , was it something else Nope .

What was it , your doing well let him punch himself out ,, fook sake wonder if it was his son he'd want to watch him het his brains scrambled

Chris Billam-Smith Felt He "Was Ready To Start Turning The Screw" on Masternak

WBO cruiserweight world champion Chris Billam-Smith got a bit more than he bargained for in his TKO victory over veteran challenger Mateusz Masternak.

The fight, which took place on Sunday in Bournemouth, saw Billam-Smith come from behind to stop Masternak in seven rounds. At the time of the stoppage, two of the official judges had Masternak up by five rounds.

Masternak was unable to come out for the eight round - citing a possible broken rib.

Billam-Smith started strong in the first, but Masternak would take over in the second as he began to land accurate punches and was making the champion miss his counters.

"I was probably down in the fight," Billam-Smith told Sky Sports. "I was probably a round down and I won the seventh and Shane [McGuigan, his trainer] was like: 'That's it, let's do it.' I was looking too big early on. It was a hard fight as expected but I made it hard for myself really, to be honest. Made it really difficult for myself, started finding my range in the seventh round. He was obviously awkward.

"I was about to start turning the screw and unfortunately he pulled out as I was about to show everyone what I was going to do. In the seventh I really started finding my range and finding my shots and finding my rhythm. Obviously I started putting my shots together a bit better and then that's what found the shot, the shot that did the rib and I could feel him getting more tired, more tired throughout the fight.

"I felt [the shot that hurt him]. I felt him sag and something happened. You could tell he felt it and I was ready to start turning the screw. I was like five rounds, let's go, I found my rhythm now. I know what I've got to do."

I presume he has a lucrative contract with Boxxer? And still has the rematch clause doesn't he?

He has a contract with Boxxer, so surely they'll have to line up a fight for him. He might as well move up to heavy and start calling our Frazer Clarke. He makes Henry Akinwande look exciting. The daft thing is, he has a lot of attributes going for him, but the constant clinching makes me not want to watch him again and I watch pretty much everything. I bet he looks a million dollars in the gym.

That's mad. Crazy that he wasn't saying just put the ear muffs on like Huck or Abraham and catch them on the gloves. Masternak is no c*nt and he can hit a bit

after the wknd i foresee the rematch with CBS / Okolie being next rather than anything more risky .
Shane and Billam need to work on their gameplans and comms as they were way off the same page on Saturday .

How embarrassing!
If anything epitomises "Victory from the jaws of defeat" it was CBS

I did, although I guessed it wrong. I thought CBS catching him at the right time re age etc. Shane's corner advice was fantastic re targeting the body, that man was the key to CBS winning. Massive victory to stop someone nobody thought was really stoppable.
