I'm fully supportive of women's boxing despite my criticisms about how it's run. I think we need to show women the respect of 3-min rounds and honest appraisals. Doesn't mean we don't credit them with the bravery of getting in there.

Maybe that's the issue with women's boxing. I went to bed and listened to the fight on talksport. Watched the fight before the main event, the super middle fight but knew the main event would go the distance and wouldn't see any knock downs. Anyway back to my point. I think if you put the time up to 3 minutes per round there might be some difference in viewing and outcomes of fights. It certainly sounded like Mayer won on the commentary I was listening to.

Incidentally are the gloves they use exactly the same as men's gloves?

I'm not a great fan of watching women's boxing as down the leagues it looks like a fight outside of Aldi for the last bottle of Prime.

Most of us are happy to watch lower-level stuff presented as-is. We've all seen great undercard fights from boxers nowhere near a top 20.

And that applies to women's UFC for me, but the gap's more obvious in boxing and I think it does more harm than good when our comms blow smoke. The product's fine, it's the marketing and corruption to suit.

Womens same gloves as men. 154+ it’s 10oz and below is 8oz.

Richie Woodhall one I can remember I think against Cattley admitted he shouldn't have got the decision and you have to admire his honesty but somehow most seem oblivious to the actual truth.
