Hughie isn't really of any interest. I'm not sure how he's going to be calling any shots. He's fought negative fights against Parker and Pulev (in Bulgaria) and lost the fights and then couldn't handle Povetkins output. He was showing up with back acne for a long time while trying to "get his man strength". Perhaps the Saudis will throw money at him for a fight.

I don't think the Saudis will throw any money at him. They tend to back exciting fighters and championship fights, Hughie is unfortunately, like you say-neither.
There is just no incentive to fight him right now. He needs something to build on, like a domestic challenge. But then does he beat Wardley?

I just think now that we have female boxing being forced on viewers, there is just hardly any room now for male runner boxers who usually come to stink out a joint. The negativity of those performances has certainly received a lot more backlash in recent times. Shakur Stevenson retired off the back of the amount of stick he was getting from running all night a couple of fights ago. Unfortunately he's back now. I'm long in the tooth now in terms of boxing viewing and there is only so much I can take at this point. I just have no patience to sit there for 10-12 rounds of running anymore. The fact that he was fighting like that against Pulev in Bulgaria says it all about the mindset of him and Peter.

I’d like to see him in with Joyce, a bull & matador type affair. Actually, Del Boy too for that matter

I just caught up with this one. Chisora looked exhausted from the second round onwards and Joyce kept plodding forwards blocking every shot with his face. Not exactly a classic but Chisora has earned the right to keep wildly swinging for at least one more payday. I think they should both retire but definitely Joyce should, I can’t think of any noteworthy opponent that he’ll be able to beat.

A little. I mean both have reached their limits. There’s still some interest and a half decent fight. But it’s lost its lustre.

Problem for Hughie is the serious competition . If he fights any top or topish guys he gets beat and runs just increaseing his boring to watch status .

If he wants to fight lower ranked who we know he's gonna boar us to death getting that win , then he has some serious competition to fill that spot with useless even worst women fights , but there gonna be cheaper .

Yoka's pro career has been very very odd. 3 losses on the bounce then a UK appearance with odd stoppage in 4th round vs Boucetta.

I'd have been confident of Joyce forcing a stoppage in the second half. This was also a 10-rounder when you'd have been brave to bet on Chisora lasting 12. And Joyce could've won by a point on two cards without the knockdown.

This fight did show me he'd have always struggled against Chisora's low-dipping oldman Philly on the ropes, with so many hooks catching air and most of his jabs slipped. Wise after the fact and that, but most of us would've fancied him to win quite comfortably with his Dubois tactics. Perhaps even if he'd switched to lowish, angled uppercuts towards the end, instead of hooks that kept lapping over Del's boat.

For sure this Joyce was heavier and slower than the covid version, with less punch variety, a previously seldom-seen knockdown against, and reduced trademark output. Post-Zhang it's like he's caught overthinking everything he does. He obviously needed a serious review after that first loss, but he should still be in shape at 260 and outhustling at this level to have any hopes of reclimbing.

I've loads of time for Joe - easily one of my favourite dudes in boxing, but if he's not looking to lose weight and there are no potential shortcut opponents forthcoming (Anderson-Bakole winner?), I'd like to see him retire. It's really unfortunate he's not more popular, else he could've had a last shot at glory in a British banger against Clarke or Wardley. Way things are, that'd probably just be more damage for a largely ungrateful public.

If I could pick an opponent for him it'd be Fury, supposing he doesn't rematch Usyk. I certainly wouldn't fancy this Joyce to beat him any more, but I still think it's a fun matchup.
