Superb, I dont like Garcia but he was far too sharp for Benn, he couldn't get out of the way of the left hook in the 1st, tagged repeatedly with it before getting dropped heavily by a right in the 2nd, Benn couldn't recover and was under bombardment on the ropes when it was stopped, tad premature imo but who cares

Just watched it, very glad I didn’t stay up for that rubbish Went exactly how I thought it would, Benn has never been anywhere close to world level and unsurprisingly got badly exposed. Needs to get back on the eggs pronto!

As people expected, if a motivated Garcia turned up, his speed and power would be too much and that was that.

Benn is unlikable and bit too egotistical, based on nothing more than his Dad and the fact he beats up older faded, weaker opponents.

Someone, somewhere along the line told him he had his Dad's energy, who was scary and dangerous.

He was never a banger / brawler. When he started he was a 'up on his toes' boxer and a light hitting one at that.

Hype, as we all know, can only take you so far.

Didn't realise how hated Benn was. Outside this forum. Watched the DAZN highlights and read the comments and they are 100% anti-Benn.

Btw: casuals have absorbed "levels to this" so if you want to make that point you'll have to come up with a different way of saying it lest ye like cliches

I’ve only seen the fight with American comms, is there a British version? One of those rare occasions I’m quite interested to hear how Adam Smith would attempt to sell this terrible amateur performance from Conor.

Benn made Garcia look like the best in the division. Benn just ran in, ducking and diving while Garcia stepped around with much quicker hands. Garcia landed at will. The speed and power difference was way too much. Benn's pressure is the only thing he has against someone who doesn't have a pensioner's chin.

It's a very weak division but he's not a guaranteed win over anyone, even as a weak champion. It's his best chance and is blatant that he's trying to cherry pick himself a belt. None of the fights sell that well though.

It's what idiots want. Not genuine fans of the sport, they're fans of the athletes and the spectacle. Turki fits in that category in my opinion. Dana has often fallen into that category. All promoters fall into that category at times but I don't know if it's ever been as relevant as today.

I don't think Eubank is a great example here. He was actually competitive at a high level, picked up a few good wins and was part of the WBSS.

Benn has zero credible wins, went life and death with a journeyman and just got stopped in two rounds by a former lightweight.

It was inevitable anyway, Garcia was too sharp, too fast and too slick. I would have liked to see Benn take a bit more shellacking, but that's a side of my personality I don't like indulged. He's a dork and he got found out. Fine with that

He's a fine athlete is conor. But he has massive holes in his pedigree and experience to be fcuking with the top lads.

Definitely not an early stoppage, Benn didn’t even complain once, he was done.

agree, Eubank was for a long while a genuine contender at world level. If he could have found a stable management and coaching team I am sure he'd have had a better career in the ring (though perhaps it let him hold on to more of the purses he made)

Hmmm not really sure about Eubank Jr tbh. I’d say he was ‘fringe’ world level at best, and that’s being pretty generous. Any time he stepped anywhere near someone who was actually at world level, he lost.

Edit to add: but agree with the general point he was a lot closer than Benn ever was.

DAZN YouTube highlights are British comms.

Eubank started out by using his dad’s name but he went on to do things in boxing where his name held weight in the sport by himself. Benn will never be anything in the sport off his own achievement.

Benn a load of crap. Chris Eubank a load of crap. Neither of them have ever been the best in Britain let alone the world. Both look very amateurish in the ring.

You have to respect the money they've made (and the money I've made off them ). Both are multimillionaires while possession not much talent. The only thing to admire about them both. Is how excellently they've both traded off their father's names. No one would know either of them.

Both should retire now. Eubank was never any good. He's lost 4 times against domestic (British) fighters and he looks shot to pieces. Being shot when you were never at a very good level is pretty scary.

Benn potentially could have 1 more decent money fight if he really wanted it. He gets beat by any fighter at note (apart from Eubank but who wants to see a 3rd one?).

A difference in levels was evident last night.
Brilliant promotion and matchmaking can get you into positions you want to be, but ultimately boxing has a way of levelling things out most of the time.
Garcia, although not always technically perfect has unbelievable speed with power and has experience fighting at the top level both as an amateur & pro.
He’s one of those fighters for me where he’s overrated by some & underrated by others!
That right hand was savage so credit to Benn for getting up after that.
Might not be the perfect stoppage by the ref for some as it was timed on a couple of missed punches but I’d say Garcia was about to close out the fight with a highlight reel knockout so he saved Benn from that.
