I thought Reid sent that request to the IBF and not the WBA?

He petitioned both in fact as I recall, when the IBF turned him down, his management tried the WBA, to no avail.

It was the IBF who appointed the officials for the bout incidentally..

He had to pay the IBF 10 grand for a complaint I read too!

Why wasn't there any WBA judges there if he was also defending that title?

Yes, Jess Harding paid 10 grand to have them watch the tape. He then flew out to the WBA conference in Venezuala to petition them too.

My money is on Valuev vs Ruiz 2 in Germany as the first of four fights on offer. The decision does appear to be a tad controvesial, even german websites are saying it was poor.... and besides, who is the most marketable fighter in the DK stable at this present moment - Rahman and Toney have got other plans. Chris Byrd's relationship is strained, Is Brewester still with King?

Ray Austin? Is high on the WBA rankings, but I think Ruiz is actually more deserving than him.

The timing of it makes sense.

Err, haven't Rahman and Byrd already split with King?

I'm not sure maybe I don't think anything has been official. I know Don has said his relationship with Byrd is strained, but I thought things were patched through prior to the Williamson match.

Anyway, Valuev if marketed correct could be a promoters dream. If I was Valuev I'd be tempted to retire as the champion on a high. This guy could easily make Hollywood and make a shit load of money playing bad guys - he could be like the new Jaws (from James Bond).

I can see the Don liking his lips at the thought of Valuev vs Tyson. Horrible fight - but it could sell shit loads if Nicolai got an easy fight exposure in the US before. The Baddest Man on the planet vs The Monster.

Even if Rahman split with King, Toney has still been made mandatory to fight him. The trash talk will sell the fight alone! :o
