Just thinking of that fight made me exhausted. Martinez by decision in an abysmal fight. Sergio will snooze it up if he doesn't have an aggressive fighter in front of him.
Martinez vs Hamsho would be more appealing in my view.

Carlos Monzon v Sergio Martinez 12 rounds Middleweight.
Chase him? Chase him? Without wishing to impeculiate you sir, WTF planet are you on where John L. Sullivan would be running away from Butterbean? As opposed to, say, killing him stone dead?
Anyway, lest this descend into GI-style handbags at dawn, I shall overlook it & move on to answer your question:
As big as my man-crush is for Sergio (& it's pretty big), Monzon hunted down & beat the ever-living shite out of fighters far slicker & trickier than Martinez.
Late stoppage or wide points for Carlos.
More even:
Sergio Gabriel Martinez vs Hugo Corro, 12 rounds, middleweight.
I'll carry a handbag at dawn before I fall for a man, mate

C'mon now... We are all guilty of man-crushing. We're boxing fans, FFS. It's an inherently romantic sport (& no I don't mean romantic as in "rubbing slippery bits together").
Are you gonna tell me you don't have a life-size George Foreman cut-out somewhere in your room (I pray it's not stapled to your bedroom ceiling)?

George Foreman is an epic exception to this rule.
You can't compare him to any other boxer

Since the thread has veered anyway, LMAO at Chavez stopping Morales at 130. Not in a million years. He might win, but only after the ring announcer let him know.

What I meant that was Sullivan will be constantly moving to avoid being hit by Butterbean and getting a few combinations in on Butterbean will get exhausted through stalking down the Boston Strongboy before he gets nailed by the Strongboy. As for your man crush on Sergio Martinez we shall do our best to overlook that.

Don't see a pending matchup, so I'll add this one
The 2003 version of Shane Mosley, coming off his second clear and decisive victory over DLH (

) takes on the 2000 version of Felix Trinidad, fresh off his KO of Vargas.
Shane Mosley (2003) vs Felix Trinidad (2000) @ 154

Shane doesn't have the jab or ring intelligence to avoid a war and this is one he isn't going to win. I imagine Tito would go down once or twice early, but as the rounds went on he would be blasting shane enough to earn a hard fought dec.
Sergio martinez vs Mustafa Hamsho

if mosely doesnt ko trinidad then i think felix wins a very close points decision.
arturo gatti vs barry mcguigan at 130

McGuigan by decision, he would be giving up a ton of size, but he was a much better fighter and I think he would get the nod.
I'll try a new one, Sergio Martinez vs Mustafa Hamsho

I'll go with Hamsho by ud, Mustafa was a better boxer than given credit for.

OK. This is going to sound a little odd, but here goes.
Ali vs Ray Robinson
We compare wighters from different eras. WHy not different weights?

Ali by early KO. Way too much weight to give up.

No. I meant if they both weighed the same. It's a hypothetical question.

"Way too much weight" and "If they both weighed the same" are not the same.

What exactly are you looking for? It was stupid. I didn't make any snide comments. Let it go.

Let’s see: In order for them to weight the same Robinson would have to eat a lot of Burger King or McDonald’s or Ali would have to drain himself to death.
Which one is more plausible?
Could we make Ivan Calderon vs Nikolay Valuev?

I don't think the 5'0" Calderon could make it to 300 lbs. without dying of a heart attack somewhere in the weight gain process.

Maybe they could meet in the middle at a catchweight of 150.
