I'm a Hearns fan, but I think this would be a lot closer than a lot of people think. Hearns wins by decision after a scare in the last three rounds.IRLangmaid25 wrote:I am going to for Jermain Taylor on a points decision as I don't feel that being at 160lbs was the best weight for the Golden Boy in my opinion as he laboured to a 12 round decision against Felix Sturm and got sliced in half by Bernard Hopkins when he was trailing on the cards by 6 rounds and 4 rounds respectively.
Next match up.
Tommy Hearns v Oscar De La Hoya: 12 rounds Welterweight.

Since Morales has the benefit of the modern weight-drain I'm going to use the young Super Bantam version of him, since that was the point at which he'd be about equal in size to Elorde on fight night.Goodnight, Irene wrote:Though I am not a Vazquez fan per se, he has my respect & admiration, which is why it pains me to say I see him getting bombed big-time by the larger Hamed. A relatively-crude, face-first brawler like Vazquez, especially giving up some size, would be knocked our sooner or later by Hamed's awkward angles & heavy hands.
I think Hamed gets it done in about seven. Would be hoping I'm wrong, though.
Haven't seen this one yet, so...

Anyway, I see a very fun fight that resembles Erik's (how'd he get such a Viking-ish name anyway?) fight with In-jin Chi, only more competitive. Morales pulls out a fairly close decision in a fun fight where Morales really tests Elorde's chin and Flash tests Morales' skills.
Here's an interesting one...
Ricardo Lopez vs. Jorge Arce at 112.
Holmes down in round 5. Holmes wins by late stoppage. Lewis' face is badly damaged.chucktaylor wrote:Pryor still wins, but by a close decision.

Liston's reach over Tyson's speed, IMO. Liston in four.IRLangmaid25 wrote:Tough one to call actually Holmes will look to jab his way in, Bowe is very good on the inside so it is real pick them fight but also Bowe likes a tear up so I am tempted to say Bowe late stoppage as Holmes gets ground with the inside work from Bowe.

Sonny Liston v Mike Tyson 12 rounds.

Fernando Vargas (2000) vs. Manny Pacquiao (2010) at Jr. Middle...
Yes, that is a good one. De La Hoya & Mosley were both heavy-draining monsters at this weight. They both had crippling power at this weight, too. I remember Jesse James Leija, who fought both men & was asked to pick who was better, once said, "I'll tell you the difference...Oscar punches like a Heavyweight."IRLangmaid25 wrote:Lemieux by an early knockout. he would not be able to deal with Lemieux's desire to take his head off...
Here's a good one for you
Sugar Shane Mosley v Oscar De La Hoya.... At Lightweight.
I'll take Patterson to KO Conn around the 10th, tearing him up on the inside with the left hook. Louis' first fight with Conn was one of Joe's poorer performances and Patterson was in top form for the Johansson rematch. Conn's savvy ring movement might win him some early rounds, but Patterson was fast on his feet and Conn would find it difficult to stay away from inside exchanges with Floyd.Goodnight, Irene wrote:Yes, that is a good one. Nevertheless, Mosley was brutally big & powerful at 135, too. Was he faster than De La Hoya? I believe he was...but, then, I would class De La Hoya as having the more varied arsenal, & array of punches. I think we have scores of 115-113, 115-114 & 114-114, for the winner by majority decision...The Golden Boy, Oscar De La Hooooyaaaaa! Would be a great scrap to watch, too.
Let me throw you a curve ball --- Floyd Patterson (2nd Johansson fight, 1960) vs. Billy Conn (1st Louis fight, 1941) over fifteen rounds at Heavyweight!
For me, Whitaker would be too mobile dancing from side to side catching De La Hoya with the jab and right hook not letting ODLH get set to throw his combinations. I would envisage a wide points win for Sweet Pea.IRLangmaid25 wrote:Juan Diaz on a wide points decision for me.
