Re: Groves: After Adamu, I knock Smith out!
I see what smigga is saying, looking for a euro fight with Magee, but if that dont come off way not fight Groves(i think your a bit weary) in all honesty your not going to get a world title fight atm....
just my opinion
just my opinion
Re: Groves: After Adamu, I knock Smith out!
i think smith does feel threatend by groves & has every right to do so as he's potential is unknown, & he dont want a potential bannana skin. you'd think a champion would gladly face a 9 fight novice, saying this he has cuts & wont be able to squeeze in the likes of ginger teeth george before a magee fight being realistic anyhow.
is smiths ebu crack a voluntry??

Re: Groves: After Adamu, I knock Smith out!
what a load of bollocks. The question you should be asking is why SHOULD smigga face groves? What has groves done to earn himself the shot??hurlock wrote:i think smith does feel threatend by groves & has every right to do so as he's potential is unknown, & he dont want a potential bannana skin. you'd think a champion would gladly face a 9 fight novice, saying this he has cuts & wont be able to squeeze in the likes of ginger teeth george before a magee fight being realistic anyhow.

All this goading of smith to call out groves is bang out of order. Smigga has paid his dues and then some. Time for him to stretch his legs, and bring it to magee

Smigga was it you or Perkins who beat Birch in abas that year,it was a bit off of shock as i remembering reading(as he was fav for abas that year) think who beat him went on to win them...

im not a knocker or lover, i dont understand why your so upset???
i couldnt give a monkey's if smith called groves out or not it dont make any differance, although id like to hear smith give him some ginger abuse
also can i add what gave dodson the right to fight for the title coming off a stoppage,& what gave smigga the right to challenge for the title???
& now he's que jumping again & hoping to defeat magee so frank can line up steilgz if succesfull, fw wont let degale loose on him, it seems like fw has invested alot in smith & is giving him the best chance of sucess if he fails fw has others to take his mantle now.
Re: Groves: After Adamu, I knock Smith out!
Frank will invest because Smigga is good for the Liverpool market. :)
Re: Groves: After Adamu, I knock Smith out!
I did read your post, and everything aside, you actually said you'd think smigga would fight a 9 fight novice. Why would he fight him he is ahead of him. Dodson did queue jump, but smigga made a voluntary defence against him, and to be fair, he was a far more seasoned campaigner than groves is, so a far more legit challenger.hurlock wrote:think you need to read my post properlyavidlemon wrote:what a load of bollocks. I read your post enough to know it WAS a goad.
Who is smith jumping ahead of to fight magee anyway??
It would make a mockery and a joke of the SMW division for groves or degale to fight smigga now. Neither of them have proved anything other than the fact They are good prospects. Facts are though, that degale still doesn't punch properly, and groves is wide open for someone who has accuracy and will find out that when he moves up in class.
So don't dress your post up to be something it isn't.
It doesn't makesense for smith to fight groves rght now.
Re: Groves: After Adamu, I knock Smith out!
Put groves in with dilks, and degale in with a paul david, or kenny anderson.
Groves is extremely presumptious to state he would knock out smith, who has been put down once in his pro career, and never been close to being stopped.
Different stages of their respective careers dicate that they aren't likely to fight right now or in the near future.
As i have said, smigga has served his time, ad now magee beckons why would he take 3 steps back to fight groves or degale? Makes no sense. It is like saying to a working man, you have a choice, do the same job now for 20% less than what you are now, or i tell you what, there is a great opportunity to do what you are doing now, but pick up an extra 50%. No brainer, and that is what it comes down to

Do I just fight him now because he has called me out after a fight?rhino222 wrote:fair play to you smigga and my message got a decent well thought out reply from you.Smigga wrote:Now you seem to know your boxing, or 3000+ posts on here says you read and get involved a lot.rhino222 wrote:well done george...but lets put a few things straight that people have posted..
adamu is not terrible, look at his record, yes he is raw but he is a very very dangerous contender, you need a game plan to beat his style, groves and booth executed that gameplan to the letter.
someone is saying smith should not bother with a 9 fight pro... well, unfortunately its not about the number of fights you have had or your age...basically if you are good enough then you are experienced enough and old enough.... groves is red hot, he is an ow a belt holder, he is now above dodson an dquigley in the pecking order, he wants your belt smigga, he is calling you out...........why dont you accept the challenge, the public want it, it would sell tickets, and it would be a good worthy british title scrap, and as groves said, he will put his comm belt on the line too.
dont you want to prove yourself right smigga? ... you think you can beat him...so do it !!
Who is my promoter? Who is Groves'?
You KNOW the fight isn't going to happen. So all the "prove yourself right" business is unfair.
The fight will happen if I am British champion and he becomes mandatory challenger.
I want EBU and world titles, is that such a bad thing? If any champion at any weight answered every little call out or mention of his name we'd be fighting every week.
you are right about the promoter thing, but stranger things have happened in boxing. but do you want to fight groves and prove yourself the best? .. if so go and ask for the fight, call him out on tv, put the ball back into his court, then at least it looks like you want it.
anyway, perhaps a fight further down the line will earn a lot more dough for you guys, good luck anyway, i just hope the fight takes place one day as your styles could gell nicely and it would be a good british title scrap and a fair indicator as to who is going to go any further than that level !!
I said in my reply to you that if us belt holders did that then we'd be fighting every week - You stated it was a decent and well thought out reply. I think I answered your question enough but obviously not. So to answer again, Proving to be the best will be by beating Magee, Steigliz or (as you say, stranger things have happened) Froch. Not Groves.
In honesty I've got better things to talk and read about than Groves and I'm not biting or replying anymore. I should laugh it off but I try my best to answer.
I dunno about you lot but it's boring the tits off me.
Re: Groves: After Adamu, I knock Smith out!
Smith should fight Magee next. Groves should fight Dilks next. Then see where they are in a years time it be a bigger fight.
Re: Groves: After Adamu, I knock Smith out!
yes smigga, well said, just can't wait to find out about date, venue and next opponent (hopefully magge, sometime in the summer in the echo, quality)Smigga wrote:Do I just fight him now because he has called me out after a fight?rhino222 wrote:fair play to you smigga and my message got a decent well thought out reply from you.Smigga wrote: Now you seem to know your boxing, or 3000+ posts on here says you read and get involved a lot.

Re: Groves: After Adamu, I knock Smith out!
Smigga should fight Magee, the winner of that can fight the winner of Groves versus Billy Joe Saunders. Whoever wins that can fight the winner of Degale versus Tony Jeffries and whoever wins that can fight Froch for the title
What the hell has Smith got to prove or gain by fighting George Groves?????
Surely he wants his eyes set on the European belt. Just cos Groves calls him out doesn`t mean he HAS to fight him. Hatton made a career out of avoiding Witter and he did quite nicely out of it as well.
Let Groves progress at his own pace. Sticking him in with the British Champion in his 10th fight is not a smart move. Smith is a tough fighter, with a decent dig and plenty of experience. He would have too much savvy for Groves and would beat him right now in my opinion. It doesn`t mean he has to fight him though.

Re: Groves: After Adamu, I knock Smith out!
i think everyone knows there is no chance of this or any other fight happening apart from magee full stop.
avid as for our prospects, your talking on olympic gold medalist's & a british title which to world class prospects is grass roots period look at david reids record
.
, smith & macklin who i rate & respect have been brought along slowly & held back, i mean eastman was champion when smith started say no more.macklin failed against facey then moore too prove he wasnt ripe at the time, but i believe the current crop are as good if not better.
the magee fight will defenetly tell if smith is a serious 12st campaigner & will be the proof all the critics & pundits need.
be nice to see smigga do it & freshen things up
anyhow enough for me on this thread it is boring my tits off now

Since Abraham & Kessler are tied up in the super six, it'd be fair to say that according to the EBU rankings Gutknecht and Balszay both deserve a shot at Magee before Smith.
The only reason why Smith/Magee is an immediate likelyhood is because Magee would probably take the fight in the hope of acquiring Smith's WBO ranking (if victorious, of course).

typical warren behaviour.
Re: Groves: After Adamu, I knock Smith out!
Smith should fight Magee next after he jumped the queue to get the first shot at Quigley after no noticeable wins at super middle. If Groves is as good as people think he might be then it won't be long before he is up there, for now there are plenty of good names in this country for him to defend his commonwealth title against starting with Dilks (Anderson, David, Dodson etc).

Balszay lost to stieglitz for the WBO title, no? At the end of the day, these guys are close enough in the rankings to make a case for all of them. Smith is logical for magee in terms of the interest the fight would generate, money etc.
It's not queue jumping, more like what makes more commercial sense. And at the end of the day, it is a fight for smigga to push for, as it is a great platform to then fight for the wbo, and in fairness, where is there left for him to go in the U.K, without it being a step back, because with respect to groves, degale, anderson etc, it would be

Where does everyone think the cash is coming from?Yes,it would be a good payday for Brian, but nothing close to what he got for challenging for the title. If i was him,i would play the waiting game until the highest bidder came in.He's earned it,and after the last bout, doesnt need to be straight back out(not because it was a hard fight, but because it paid so well)

Fact is until Smith is declared Magee's mandatory, he is dependant on Magee opting to fight him as a voluntary.
If Magee were to look elsewhere (unlikely I know), Smith would be left seeking keep busy international fights if he decided he was done with British level.
I don't know where this idea that Smith has paid his domestic dues has come from as he's only had two fights at British level. Of course he would like to progress to the European stage, who wouldn't in his position?
But as far as i'm concerned he's still very much at British level. And Groves has just arrived as a leading contender. They are not at different stages of their careers, despite the large difference in terms of fight experience.
Re: Groves: After Adamu, I knock Smith out!
smith has beaten the who he needs to beat to warrant his position IMO. Groves is being a bit pushy TBH and needs to defend his cmmonwealth against credible opposition like aybe dilks, who i know would love the opportunity.
30 fights against a mixture of british and euro guys warrants paying your dues

Re: Groves: After Adamu, I knock Smith out!
Smith is beyond the level that Groves is at and has every right to look for bigger and better fights. I'm no Smith fan to be honest but he should be looking to take on Magee and Groves probably needs another 4 or 5 learning fights before he steps up to that level.

It would be a cracking fight, I would favour Groves, the boy is so talented! It would be a very strong test for him and it would be a very closely contested contest with Groves getting the nod

I just think people are jumping the gun here.He is very good at what he does, but has domestic level written all over him.We have seen a few over the years look the business early on,only to be found out.I really believe Degale is a much better long term prospect.I suppose its all about opinions, though. And i think Smigga would stop him right now.Adamu was hand picked,by a very clever Adam Booth. My respect for that guy is going up all the time. His gameplans are usually spot on.His next one will probably be to make a daft offer for the Smith fight, and then walk away claiming they didnt want to know!
Re: Groves: After Adamu, I knock Smith out!
If you're right then Smith should fight him now. Groves would be a very good person to have a win against. I think Smith & Warren both want an easier route, and I also would if I was in the same situation.mickey1975 wrote:I just think people are jumping the gun here.He is very good at what he does, but has domestic level written all over him.We have seen a few over the years look the business early on,only to be found out.I really believe Degale is a much better long term prospect.I suppose its all about opinions, though.
