How was Larry "caught" ?

If I understand correctly, it was not as a result of a drug test, but he was caught importing the gear from America and the police told the BBofC ?

That just shows how crazy the situation is.

The answer is- very little. As far as I know, there is no international law governing who can and can't sanction boxing matches- give that IT'S PERFECTLY LEGAL TO HAVE A BOXING MATCH. For sure, some countries do ban the sport- thats different. Likewise, a court does have the power to prohibit someone from staging fights, or taking part in them under certain circumstances.

But there is no law whatsoever in the UK that says that boxing must be regulated by the BBBoC, or that the EBF is "unlawful."

It is only standards and repuation that make an organisation "legit."

On the subject of PEDs, maybe Larry or somebody else can help with this.

I work out with Kettlebells for an hour 3 times weekly. I'd love to be able to increase this to 4-5 times weekly but am not physically able to work out on two consecutive days as I need a day off to recover after each session.

At the moment I'm only taking Whey Protein on the days that I train (within half hour before/after training).

Can somebody suggest some non illegal PEDs I could take to speed up recovery which would not be detrimental to my overall health?

depends how hardcore you want to go, if your not competing you could just use normal peds.

I won't be competing so normal PEDs are good enough. Any recommendations? Nothing that gives me female breast tissue, heart, kidney or liver issues, shrinking dick or bouts of rage please.

Well John the solution to your problem is steroids.......because for you to think steroids will give you those problems per se, shows just how much ignorance and lack of knowledge there is about steroids and steroid use in the media and amongst even some ordinary people working out in the gym

For one thing , all steroids were developed in laborotories and medical facilities to help patients who are for example , wasting, ill, thin, etc.

When taken in the recommended low dosages steroids can be a remarkably beneficial things.

Again you have to distinguish between different steroids and not tar them all with the same brush. The problem with those issues u mentioned (hairloss, small dick, bitch tits etc) all come about when bodybuilders abuse steroids or use them incorrectly etc without the proper medical advice or guidance.

You could take a very mild steroid and u will recover like crazy and have ZERO side effects

You have a fair point there Mugabi; the problem is that steroids taken for medical reasons are generally taken orally (tablet, capsule or liquid). Many of the problems formally treated by steroids are now treated by drugs with fewer side effects. One of the problems with steroid mis-use is that the drug is injected directly into the muscle; this can and does lead to many problems both due to the injecting process itself and the substance injected.

Injected steroids are safer if taken properly, because they don't have to pass through the liver.

Of course they pass through the liver; it's called first pass metabolism; the steroid will sit in the muscle and then be taken by the capillaries, away from the muscle and to the veins - then to the heart - to the lungs (where some will be expelled/excreted) and then to the liver; similar to when someone injects another form of illicit drug, though most illicit drugs are dug in a vein. The liver breaks own the steroid (metabolises it) and then begins the process of elimination.

Did you imagine that the steroid stays in the muscle and does it's magic?

Any injection is unsafe unless given by a trained professional; there are so many variables, contingencies, possible infections and complications that injecting anything into your veins/muscle is a risky business.

A muscle is not 'made/designed' to contend with 10ml of steroid fluid injected into it. If you imagine that injecting steroid is risk free/easy or safe then visit your local needle exchange where you may learn a little bit more; maybe enough to put you off the idea.....

A fuckin ridiculous and dangerous assertion; everything that you ingest or inject will have desired and predictable effects and WILL have an opposite effect that is unwanted, unbeneficial or harmful to the bodily system. There is no panacea / magic potion; use your common sense or at least use your head before you ruin your health.

You are ignorant on this subject it defies belief, I know men at a gym in their 50s and 60s who continue to take controlled sensible occasional cycles of steroids and their health and look is I wager far better than yours. Bogus analogy as proffesional footballers dont pay the hefty licencing fees and dues pro boxers do. a proffesional boxer competes for himself in a individual sport and doesnt need to sign to a club to compete , wheras a proffesional footballer can only compete if a team signs him on the basis he is godo enough.......therefore my point is valid.....Larry is clearly good enough to compete, he has paid his dues and now for a minor transgression which frankly isnt one on the HW scene in britain...he gets banned for 4 years.......that my friend, is taking away someones ability to earn a living....boxers do it in the hardest way possible sacrificing their health and taking punches for a living thats hard enough without keyboard Keiths ( i dont mean you) expressing sanctimonious platitutudes about them being cheats.......trust me those inside the sport know what goes on in the HW division and there is a unspoken gentlemans agreement about this......the same way there is in MMA and proffesional bodybuilding.

Thanks for the offer mugabi but I work full time and do a voluntary stint at a needle exchange in Doncaster every Wednesday; if you PM me I'll send you the number so you can talk to a full time worker who is at the sharp end, dealing with the problems that arise when steroid use goes wrong. I don't try to talk out of my arse and appreciate that there are people that know more about steroid use than me. I do see lots of young men come in for needles, swabs and bins etc and have had some training about steroid use and the harmful effects they can have + the harm that can be brought about by poor injecting technique.

I'm not that sure that given your insults that you'd be in a position to call me ignorant. If you are encouraging someone to do something; at the very least potentially harmful; then you ought to half a little think about it all; there are harmful side effects associated with steroid mis use.

There are people who look fantastic in their 50's and 60's who train and use steroids; the same people would look good training without using steroids. + I don't look too bad for my age and am not right keen on the muscle bound look in any case. Another aspect is that many users still feel 'small' when they train heavily and use steroid/growth hormone regularly; they don't stop. There are people who are using for years and though they cycle their use ARE putting added stress on their liver, kidneys, heart and endocrine system. There are any number of young men with fantastic physiques with wrecked organs who drop dead long before their time.

I can see from your posts that you feel that using steroids when training is a good thing to do and you advocate it. I'll not waste my time attempting to disuade you otherwise but do me a favour and drop the personal insults; you fly off the handle as I've a different view on it to you; I think that's a bit silly really.

You really do know how to show yourself up and dig a new hole for yourself.
My whole point is, steroids are not all about the tabloid stereotype of the musclebound drug crazed bodybuilder using needles injecting himself......steroids also come in pill form, cream form, it isnt just about needles....you cant simply tar everyone with the same brush...idiots who dont know how to use needles properly..that has nothing to do with steroids and everything to do with needle misuse......a sensible athlete who cycles use and only takes laboratory produced steroid product with a physicians advice is not the same.....as the 18 stone pony tailed club doorman who takes 10 times the reccomended dosage on a 10 year cycle, stabs himself in the arm injecting himself than visits you at your workplace as he has countless infections and absecceses from injection abuse , sharing needles etc..none of that has anything to do with steroids as a medicinal product....the actual steroids dont cause those problems.....its the users stupidity and misuse and abuse.....steroids themselvess and the purpose steroids were created for....they have been magnificent beneficial things for mankind.....take Lionel Messi he was on growth hormone HGH , and probably would not have made it as a footballer if he hadnt been put on it.

Nobody flew off the handle except you when you stormed in throwing insults instead of discussing things in a reasonable civilised manner. You're just one of the hang em up high, how dare he use steroids brigade, who act like a gang rape has taken place.

Im sure it's wonderful for you working full time and also volunteering at a needle exchange in Doncaster, and being at the sharp end of things so much but that doesnt make you the self professed expert on steroids and PEDS in sport that you seem to be deluded into thinking you are

I imagine this is the detailed post you had in mind on page 10, i couldn't find a post on page 9.

1) Lots of things have been developed in laboratories, some beneficial and some not. Many more are beneficail in some cases and not in others. Many of the steroid preparations used medically have a very limited effect (on a particular body part or function) and are taken in very lose dose, as a tablet, inhaler or lotion/cream. I am not saying that all steroids are 'bad'.

2) Some of the steroids used by bodybuilders were developed in laboratories by scientists seeking ways to put mass onto cattle - either by creating muscle or by encouraging water retention. Because these substances were created by men in white coats and advocated by users does not mena that they are safe to be injected into the human muscle.

3) You are encouraging a man who is training his body to be fitter and stronger to use a steroid; if he had asthma then he could take a steroid inhaler and it would help; on the drug packaging would be a list of possible side effects and contraidications (when not to take). Steroid use may have impressive and dramatic effects AND they also have unintended effects.

4) The 'bad' side effects, penile shrinkage, 'bitch tits' are due to the body responding to an increase in testosterone level within the system by converting it to Oestrogen; the female hormone. If someone were to ask their GP about using steroids to help their appearance or gain size they would be asked to rconsider and advised not to use. The GP/Consultant (after 7 years of medical training would know more about the effects than a gym user). They would probably also be advised that the steroid was likely a Class C drug and illegal to sell, pass along or use.

I hope you can see that you advocating steroid use to someone you do not know and have not met is irresponsible and could be dangerous; your defensiveness and name calling (on this subject) is plain infantile.

(End of sermon, do what you want  )

You still seem to be ignorant about the fact that not all steroids are the same and not all steroids have those potential and i stress the word potential side effects. You just cant see the woods for the trees and seem intent on making yourself look as foolish as possible.

anything abused and taken to excess will cause problems......if I eat ten mars bars a day for 10 years chances are i will get overweight, develop heart problems due to the excess weight and develop diabetes, which may than lead to amputation of my legs and blindness......all of this is conjecture but im taking a extreme viewpoint and that is the same thing you are constantly doing with PEDS......because you dont know your arse from your elbow on any of this.....youve put a few needles in a bin and now you think your Dr Kildaire.

But I do admire your abilities to shuffle the full time job and the volunteering at the needle exchange in Doncaster with all the time you seem to spend on here! :TU: Thats my last word

Ha ha! I'm glad I have your approval; try not to encourage anyone to do anything silly mugabi and remember; just because I have a different point of view than you and a different life doesn't make me full of shit. I'm sure that anyone reading these posts can see that regardless of whose position they agree with; you've not come across well at all. I don't think I've been called as many names or been insulted as much since Christmas.

I try not to be 'Dr Kildaire' and you are right; a lot of it is putting needles in bins; on the whole though I think it's better than encouraging people into using them to shoot drugs into their arse muscle. You seem to think that because you know people who take steroids down the gym that they are a good thing and can be used by all without consequence; you also think that a boxer using them against a boxer who doesn't use them is ok. That, on top of the rest of the silly posts make you a bit of a cock.
