I didn't enjoy it that much.
Congrats to Rigo, though; he clearly won.

Donaire is a bum. I haven't enjoyed any of his fights in recent years, save for the Montiel KO - nearly everything else is a guy looking for a KO and being unable to actively set up anything. Boring as hell.

Donaire has had careful match making in my opinion , I never respected him. I think he was afraid of Rigondeaux when he said Rigondeaux wasn't in his league a while back .
Donaire does have a good chin and more heart than that I thought.Things I didn't know about him until tonight.
Rigondeaux vs Mares would be a great fight ,,but from what I hear it won't happen because they have rival promoters.

Not just all of that but Donaire clearly has let the fame goto his head. That branching out into acting crap that I saw before his last fight was one of the worst things I've seen a boxer do. He thought he was Pacman #2 already, and he just got a wakeup call that he isn't that good but I'm sure he's got his excuses to block that out in the meantime.

:OhYes:

He might still have time to rectify his status if he refocuses on craft, he's still a very gifted athlete. Falling in love with your power is the downfall of a lot of seemingly special guys.

I think he's peaked already. He wont get any better than where he's at because he doesn't like good nuts n bolts boxing, just the flashy shit.

117-110 Rigo. Other than the round he got dropped in he only lost because of inactivity. He schooled Donaire.
DetroitHxC wrote:If Donaire would have thrown more he would have got knocked out. Rigondeaux fought a masterful fight, and anything under 116-111 for him makes me question what the hell you see when you watch a fight. Donaire got completely outclassed tonight.

Why do you love Ward so much then?

Right?! I was screaming at the TV for Nonito to engage and walk into the lion's den.......but he was just getting eaten alive, eating straight lefts and right hooks, his face was mangled. Nonito was scared shitless. Rigo painted his ass.

I had gotten the sense in recent fighters that Donaire had been stalling in terms of skills because he was able to just dominate opponents with his athleticism. Last night showed how hard it is for a boxer to beat someone who is as fast/faster, is a skilled counterer, and has some power. Rigondeaux put forth a counter-punching exhibition last night that was beautiful to watch. Sad that all those saying how awful the fight was can't appreciate boxing skill; I found it entertaining considering how much of a talent Donaire is but he was just getting nullified in there.

He says he is going up to 126 I think that is where he starts to get pounded as he loses his big edge his height and size advantage thing he had at the lower weights.

Still collecting? If so, feel free to add my 117-110 Rigondeaux card. :)

You can have my (slightly closer than most) 115-112 Rigondeaux card as well. Watching it as live I gave Donaire rounds 3, 7, 9 and 10, though none (bar 10) with any strong sense that he'd done anything other than marginally nicked them. If I was crazy wrong about any of them so be it - while I didn't think it was boring at the time, but I'll be damned if I'm re-watching it!
