Not really. Quigg was clearly superior in my eyes, but he literally let Salinas take the early rounds. Very frustrating. he won the fight, but not the RBR if that makes any sense.crusader wrote:So was the decision unfair to Quigg?

It does make sense and I wanted to make a similar statement last week but couldn't find the words.

Sort of how I saw it. A guy winning the last 5 rounds of a fight probably shouldn't lose a fight, but a guy winning those 5 rounds after losing 6 of the first 7 has already given himself a hole...DMA1987 wrote:Not really. Re: RBR Klitschko - Povetkin (Spoilers)
Quigg was intimidated early on just because the guy was a Cuban. That should have been an easy win.
Re: RBR Klitschko - Povetkin (Spoilers)
ill agree with that but hind sight is a wonderful thing. They had tactics and a game plan which i thought was a good one, look to slow him down with body shots, let him take the early rounds to do that, then the first minute of the rounds while he's keen, then put it on him. How were they to know he was a bit of a fancy dan.Horse wrote:Quigg was intimidated early on just because the guy was a Cuban. That should have been an easy win.
Re: RBR Klitschko - Povetkin (Spoilers)
I agree with the theory of what they were trying to do, but I can't help but think they started a bit late. I mean should they have chanced giving away that many of the early rounds? Even before hindsight its a very risky strategy. I think the plan was to probably stop him late, but Salinas is an awkward and quite horrible fighter to watch, must be the same to box.Finn wrote:ill agree with that but hind sight is a wonderful thing. Re: RBR Klitschko - Povetkin (Spoilers)
As much as Quigg's tactics were suspect, I think Salinas's turned somewhat dodgy aswell. When he was moving and using his jab he was picking Quigg off but every now and again he would plant his feet in a phone booth type range with his gloves held high and let Quigg tee off on him. He wouldnt be throwing any punches back either which was odd.
Re: RBR Klitschko - Povetkin (Spoilers)
The main thing is that Quigg sweeping the last 5 rounds, coupled with the Cuban's whinging and grinning throughout the fight, removes any sense that Scott got a lucky escape / undeserved result.
Excellent perfomance from Quigg really.
