He was ranked in the Top 10 I believe by most observers and he was the IBF mandatory. He put up a good effort.

I had no problem with the commentary, I agree Steve Smoger seemed to favor Hopkins quite a bit. His shoving Murat at the end of the bout...I've never seen anything like that from a referee.

I think Steve Smoger is a great referee and has done a great job repeatedly in his career, but this was definitely not one of his shining moments.

He's certainly no legend, but he seemed to be a legit contender and fought like one. I wonder how a 48 year old Ezzard Charles or Archie Moore would've done against Murat tonight?

I think he gave a legitimately game effort. He wasn't on the level of Hopkins, but he came to win.

I've definitely seen far worse title fights and challengers.

I wish all title challengers tried as hard as Murat. Almost all of them bring more skill to try with but too many of them show up for a check not a belt.
