1970-1977 Middleweight Division The Monzon Era
Re: 1970-1977 Middleweight Division The Monzon Era
I know, but I want to you to summarize the fight from youtube. I watched their fight on YouTube, but I may forgot how Briscoe knocked Vinales out in the 7th round.
Re: 1970-1977 Middleweight Division The Monzon Era
Thanks Il Duce for summarizing the Briscoe vs. Vinales II and I appreciate it. I know there is a YouTube video for Carlos Monzon vs. Bennie Briscoe II on November 11, 1972 and I already watched it. Tell me about that fight in your own eyes.
Re: 1970-1977 Middleweight Division The Monzon Era
I never know that Monzon was not well liked in Buenos Aires and was it because they don't like him as a person outside the ring even though they respect his boxing skills?
Re: 1970-1977 Middleweight Division The Monzon Era
People from Buenos Aires never liked Monzon because of his bad boy image does made sense for me to understand. It was very surprisingly that people from Monte Carlo and Paris liked Monzon.

Why not watch the actual fight instead of letting Douch make it up for you?
Re: 1970-1977 Middleweight Division The Monzon Era
I told Il Duce that I have already watched it on YouTube, but I want him to summarize the fight with his own eyes. Anyways, the best punch of the fight in round 9.
Re: 1970-1977 Middleweight Division The Monzon Era
The last 57 seconds of round 9?

You are not welcome here. Why don't you dig up your friend Klompton, so you can pat each other on the back, or on the 'front'.
Why don't I? Because it's not the kind of thing I'm into. I appreciate you sharing your fantasy with me though.
Re: 1970-1977 Middleweight Division The Monzon Era
Like Ali, Monzon had recuperative powers beyond belief. This was the most trouble Monzon was ever in, and within seconds, he was competitive again.
Never mind the Duce, everyone who enjoys boxing is welcome here.

Next few rounds please.
Re: 1970-1977 Middleweight Division The Monzon Era
What is your source for Monzon's reflective statements on those few seconds?
Re: 1970-1977 Middleweight Division The Monzon Era
I have NEVER heard that Monzon stated he was interested in LHW...though I do know he sparred with Galindez, and did quite well.
So....did you HEAR this with your ears via watching this telecast live? Or is it actually in the taped interview?
OR did you read it as a quote from a publication? If so which publication?
Could you share this info with pantin' public?

Incidentally,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, he twice KO'd Brian Blackpool {'from' London} during sparring sessions in the Slug & 'Lettuce' public house. The crowd went wild.

You know, Hank and Buddy did look a lot alike! lol

Do you reckon Il Duce will ever realise Kovit/Scorpio is just winding him up?

'MONZON EYES FOSTER'
Carlos Monzon stated that if he beats Bennie Briscoe on November 11, 1972 in Buenos Aires he
will move up and challenge Light Heavyweight Champion - Bob Foster.

If this is the only example of this, one has to wonder if the sports writer made it up to make his quota. That needs to be a consideration correct? I mean.....it happens. And I would suspect this statement if made would have some sort of corroboration. It's a single sports writer in a relatively obscure market. And all alone. Is it credible?
I'm simply asking.....It could be true. But it aint necessarily so.
Re: 1970-1977 Middleweight Division The Monzon Era
I nominate Il Duce as the most crazy, driven, needy and furtive poster ever. The effort he puts into his bullshit is incredible.
Re: 1970-1977 Middleweight Division The Monzon Era
It's a great mix.......on this one, he may have a bit of a foundation. But I can't attest to it.
However.....I want to believe lol

He may have created this entire stream of consciousness just to whet your whistle Boxbuzz. That's his style. I don't think I've seen the matchup go to a poll before but I may be wrong.
