Whatever people reckon of Hughie Fury, what he is and what he ain't, Cojanu is a far worse opponent

Ridicolous fight, surely to God they can come up with a better opponent than this even at such short notice

Not going to do Parkers credibility any favours at all

Parker isn't the one continually pulling out of fights and fvcking everyone around. His credibility is totally unaffected by this, regardless of whatever opponent they manage to get at 2 weeks notice.

His credibility will be affected if better fighters than Cojanu are ready and willing to have a grab at his belt. Boxrec lists Cojanu as a small orbiting asteroid outside our solar system, but he is ranked 3rd in Romania!

It has no place in world boxing, regardless of who pulled out where and what ever else, this fight is more or less inexcusable, he'd be better off not fight at all!

I disagree that he would be better to not fight at all. Yes it is a step backwards from Fury but Parker is one of the most active heavies, usially fighting 5 times a year. Who else in thE top 15 fights this much? Fury already wasted 6 months of his time where he could have had 2 more fights. No doubt we will see JP back in the ring later this year.

Remember if Fury didnt pull out, none of this would be happening at 2 weeks notice.

Agreed, this is bad, but I don't think it is fair to Parker that his reputation would be dragged through the mud at choosing this opponent. You'll always get guys jumping at the chance to take a world title shot at short notice (i.e. Breazeale), what have they got to lose? On the other hand, Parker has got everything to lose.

There's no doubt in my mind that Parker would take Breazeale on in a world title fight, but doing it in the right and orthodox way. To prepare specifically for that opponent. To do a full camp knowing who he's fighting. Bringing in the appropriate sparring partners to prepare him optimally. Not take someone at two weeks notice that's got nothing to lose, and everything to gain. Parker just needs to get through this date, and move onto another relevant opponent.

The only person's reputation who should be on the line is Hughie Fury and his team.

The best i ever trained , acknoledges i had a big input on his life , reckons i was a ratbag , and a bad influence , and we are still the two best mates you could hope for . I'm godfather too his first child , and he flew 5000 miles to see me when i was sick . Boxing brings out these speciel relaitionships , and when i seen this clip , AJ went up 20 fold in my eyes ,, some will say it was publicity , me i spelt RESPECT .

Plus Parker has had a long training camp and he deserves to get paid ! Not an ideal opponent but hopefully the NZ public don't mind too much and come out and support their man!

He won't be fighting at home too often I imagine so hopefully they appreciate it whilst they can!

Dillian Whyte, Jarrell Miller, Anthony Joshua and Deontay wilder in the past year.

Very convenient to pull out of a fight which was scheduled two days before a UKAD hearing.

When money is involved boxing tends to find a way to iron these things out. Parker is well backed and a world champion, and he's after exposure and big money fights, which equate at present to massive arenas and stadiums in the UK. Hughie is a nobody by comparison.

Hughie v Parker is not financially viable in the UK anyway.

But there is no point in anyone talking about this until the outcome of Hughies UKAD hearing tomorrow is made public.

If I'm Parker I'd do anything possible not to fight Hughie. Their whole outfit is a joke, and whether or not the injury was a legitimate one, under normal circumstances, they would postpone the fight rather than it be cancelled. It's clear the Parker team have been grossly messed about, as they've been less than complimentary of their opposition. Injuries happen, and I'm sure the Parker team understand this, but the fact that Parker has then gone on to fight someone else speaks volumes.

I think he was just befuddled with a guy that didn't stand in front of him. He has had a lot of eazy beats and that clearly shows with his lack of movement in both offence and defence. Ruiz had the better if him by coming forward, and Parker's lack of defence. Both he and Takem could land the left hook to the head at will. Thank goodness Parker has a decent enough chin thus far. Neither Ruiz or Takam or any of Parker's 23 opponents in less than five years have gotten "the better of him." Nearly five fights per year. He has conducted his career the way most fans claim they would like boxers to do. He is no phenom but he is competitive and stays busy.

Have you watched the Ruiz fight?
I gave Parker 4 rounds.
Andy had him going backwards pretty much the whole fight.
And all personal views aside, Compubox had Andy landing more than two times more jabs, power punches and punches over all.
Even Bob Sherriden said he had never heard of any of the 3 judges, and that is saying something after doing mega amount of title fights.

What's your source on the CompuBox numbers? An article I found states that CompuBox had Parker outlanding Ruiz 119-107, although punch stats are just another set of opinions. I thought Ruiz won 7-5, but it wasn't a robbery, and there were loads of people aside from the judges who had it for Parker.

By the way, do you really think Parker only 'narrowly' beat Cojanu?

Sorry, yes- slide by ment it was not as impressive as most thought it would be.
Don't get me wrong, I really really want to be a huge Parker fan.
All it would take is one win against one decent opponent. That's all, then you can call me a fan boy all you like.
For now I get bombarded by local press and casual fans saying how great he is, and what a champion he is. I have to hold back and suck it up until the time comes when I can agree, or he isn't all that.
