It is what it was, A FARCE , Mayweather carried him and when he was ready ,he went from a trot to a slight canter and stopped him with ease , it was just like watching the top pro in the gym play with the ameteur learners , no efort was neccessary and no effort was shown .

By you, I assume you mean yourself?Realistic wrote:The fact you are all still talking about it is disrespectful to boxing. CM was awful, his punches were awful, his feet were awful, his positioning was awful and his stamina was awful. The only thing he has is a half decent chin end of. Let this circus act of a fight die a death.

I give McGregor credit for some sharp counterpunching in those first three. The few right leads that Mayweather threw were nicely slipped and countered by McGregor. And I think that Mayweather was wary of those counters.youngrell wrote:I think Floyd gifted those rounds to him, he barely threw anything back at the start. I know he likes to take his time and work the opponent out, but no way it took him 3 rounds to do so.Ricky_ wrote:I was impressed. He took 2, maybe 3 rounds off Floyd. Maybe it's because my expectations were so low. Thought he was going to falling over his own feet like Freddie Flintoff.youngrell wrote:Were people honestly impressed by McGregor?
He looked slow, little power, terrible footwork, chin in the air and bricking it.
Floyd looked like he let him have the first three rounds, barely threw a shot. And he didn't throw any head shots until about the 6th.
I also thought Floyd looked terrible, but I think that was because he didn't fight his usual fight because he didn't need to. Once McGregor was gassed Floyd neglected his jab and was just head hunting for a stoppage, which is unlike him.
Anyway, glad it's over.
His assault increased significantly in round 4 and then again in round 6 when he started throwing upstairs.

I thought Floyd was actually brilliant and Connor was pretty much as I expected (less wild than I thought he would be).
We could really gauge how much Floyd has got left cos he fought a tactically spot on fight. He clearly studied Connor / UFC and gave Connor enough respect to actually stick to a game plan that would work. Which was in essence - the UFC guys only fight for 25 minutes and intensity can be sometimes low... let the guy punch himself out and again he was the master in defense.
Could Floyd have embarrassed McGregor with slick offensive / defensives footwork - ala his performance vs Gatti.... perhaps but he did need to do this. Would Mayweather beat the likes of Keith Thurman - hard to say. He just fought a tactically perfect fight for his opponent and he clearly treated McGregor seriously as an opponent otherwise he wouldn't have used such tactics.
Whereas it seems like all experts and pundits were shouting "can no longer pull the trigger" after 2 rounds - the calmest man in Vegas was Mayweather - a true fighter.

Giving credit to McGregor for winning the first two rounds is a bit like giving Mo Farah credit for being ahead of Usain Bolt after twenty metres of a sprint. Devoid of context that sounds impressive, until it's pointed out to you that Bolt didn't decide to get out of the blocks until Farah had gone twenty meters, and the end result was Bolt won by miles anyway.
If McGregor was championed as a lethal puncher, a far stronger man, who could bully his way into the fight, the net result was that all of the aforementioned looked seriously overrated. His vaunted power looked dismal, his engine was pathetic. He was the supposed bully being utterly dominated by an old man.
The fight was always a joke, but he gets no credit from me. I thought he was useless.
