It was a good debut, but Joyce is stiff as mum ra's knee.

Lewison lasted longer than I thought but Joyce dident look as good as I was expecting

Wooden, deliberate, one paced, forced.
Lacking imagination and creativity and looked like he wanted to throw every punch like the text book told him.
I look more fluid releasing a left hook.

He's big and lets plenty of shots go. Lots of fighters will struggle with that alone.
But a good fighter will show him up.

Fortunately for him he only has to avoid a few of them in the heavyweight ranks

was exactly what i expected. joyce ugly style but strong and keeps coming. will grind down sexton too. too basic for world level but can see british and ebu.

On the one hand I wasn't impressed with Joyce he looks slow, a bit plodding and although there's power there's no snap in his shots, he's more of a thudding type puncher, he's got a great jab and throws the basic shots well but doesn't throw enough combinations or me, just single shots or 1/2s

On the other hand that's a great stoppage win for your debut in anyones book and he got 8 rounds under his belt without losing a round, Lewison was brave but predictable, just marching forward trying to land a haymaker, he earned his dough though, he could've bailed whe he was thumbed in the eye in the 4th or afterwards when the eye closed coz that mustve hindered him, he wasn't in shape though so I'm not to sympathetic, when he went over on his ankle I thought he would've been unable to continue but credit where credits due he toughed it out

Great debut win for Joyce but I'm not blown away like Joshua or Dubios and that's taking into consideration that opposition, theres still questions on his speed and chin

Lovely left hook to put Lewison down right before the TKO should've been scored

He wasn't that impressive, but I'd put in him with Sexton tomorrow - and as crazy as it sounds - he would probably be in a world ranking if he beat Sexton.

Thats just it. Too good for domestic level, too predictable and not enough for even the shite world level at heavyweight.

Bit too much negativity for Joyce here. It’s a tougher debut than a lot will ever see. Lewison May be fat, but he’s better than some of the bums thrown at our debutants in the past.

Good post - Joyce has probably come in at debut as a pro at a 10 fights level

why?

what does he do so much better? hes big, stiff, and slow too, but with already less proven stamina. dont tell me power, because joyce fought a durable guy. dubois has fought lhws and horribly glassed chin opponents like howe and carter. even gorman and allen kod howe early.

His jab wasn't great, sometimes he threw with some snap but a lot of the time he got the mechanics wrong and pushed it badly.

And like davie says his left hook is an abomination

Dubois is hugely overrated on here. Maybe overrated isn’t the right word, cos he’s unproven, but people are seeing things I’m not when predicting where he’ll end up in his career

Dubois has power and aggression. I honestly see him walking through Joyce. Neither is anywhere near world class talent.
