I felt at the time that Dirrell probably won the fight (barely) but Froch deserved to win it because he actually wanted to fight.

But must admit I was pretty hammered on Jack Daniels by the time it all finished, and it was such a sh!t fight that I’ve never bothered to go back and rewatch. So I could be completely wrong. still not going to rewatch it though!

Dirrell is a bitch.

He really proved that against Abraham with the fake KO.

Then avoiding Ward on the orders of Dr Shaw High (whom nobody ever found out actually existed)

He stank out HBO and then came to Showtime’s super six and bitched out there as well.

He’s fought once in the last 2 years.

Dirrell ultimately has no one to blame but himself for that lose. The diving to the canvass and constant moaning.... if you give out the impression you are being bullied, don't be surprised if it influences the judges.

Dirrell could have been DQ'd to be fair, he didn't even attempt to fight, he spent the entire night fouling and feigning being fouled, I'll never forgive him for wasting almost 2 hours of my life(I also watched the Abraham fight where he faked injury to get a DQ win).

10 pages so far - for somebody with such a complicated character, I wonder what Froch makes of this (I am sure he Googles his name on a daily basis - or at least gets their kid to do it for him).

On the one hand he will be buzzing that people are talking about him, but tortured that there isn't much love for him.

When Dirrell fought Curtis Stevens on HBO after dark, it was described as the worst boxing match ever televised in the states.

Lou Dibella, who was promoting Stevens in the fight, had options on the winner. He was so disgusted by the running and grabbing style, that he refused to have anything further to do with Dirrell.

The audience booed throughout the fight - and most of the seats are visibly empty by the time the results are read out... but still some folk remained just to boo him out the ring.

Talks a lot of sense does Ward, one of the best days in boxing for me was when Froch almost raised his hand in hope of victory but you could see on his face he knew he'd lost and didn't protest but went on to slag off ward's 'boring style',a style he had no idea how to deal with.

Saint Andre Ward:-

"Its called respect, it's called class - you can't teach that"

This is the guy, that along with his new manager (gangster James Prince) dragged a dying Dan Goosen through 3 different court cases in California, Houston and Los Angeles - and lost each one of them.

Only when Dan Goosen died, did he walk away from the arrangement that was deemed totally fair by 3 different legal courts.

I'll never understand the labeling of boxers being boring, unless they're hug and hold type fighters, it's like when people used to call Winky boring, in my opinion he was boxing technique personified, hugely accurate with his punches and damn near impossible to hit cleanly, if only he'd had knockout power he'd have been unbeatable. But then the same people would call a buffoon like Mayorga entertaining, maybe if you were a WWE fan he was. :maybe:

they dont make for fireworks and shut down opponents in a way that makes fights negative without much drama. easy to understand why ppl generally find them less entertaining. you can appreciate the skill without thinking its fun.

btw imo ward is totally mislabelled as a fighter. in many fights he was in fact holding and hitting and bullying guys with muscle strength inside. you think he outboxed kov the first time? actually watch the fight. that wasnt smarts or technique winning. not that he didnt have those, but because he wasnt a puncher ppl overplay how much of a pure boxer he was.

lots of his fights he mauled guys inside yet the the 'purests' still were jizzing to how technical etc he was

Indeed. Even in his breakout fight vs Kessler the writing was very much on the wall, poor old fair fighting honourable veteranKessler got a lesson in some of the dark arts from the rookie that night. As much as I ever jizzed over his ringcraft it was always as much about his ruthlessness and Hopkins-esque command of old-pro tricks as it was about his technique. Very gifted athletically, very good technically, but also a Winner to the core with the ability and willingness to do anything he could get away with.

I read an interesting interview with Arthur Abraham a couple years back in which he said Froch was the physically strongest fighter he ever fought. Which I found odd considering how the Froch vs Ward fight went.

I think Ward's superior balance, athleticism and ability to think one or two steps ahead are what allowed him to seemingly bully Froch that night, which is actually more impressive than simply being stronger.

^ that is surprising Froch had good balance - Arthur is a hard man himself so a massive compliment!

What a stupid tweet from froch

Although when bute announced his retirement twitter was alight with tweets of how long it'd be before froch stuck his nose in,so I do wonder if he plays up to it at times but he still goes on like a div whatever

He must be a wind-up merchant, because he cannot truly like that at 42 years of age.

He is such a hunt' that even when he is not being one it comes across as bitter (although this one looks more tongue and cheek)

It's had exactly the desired effect, grown men getting upset about it, bloody wet blankets.
