It would, but I think Whyte lasts much longer than one round. He's a much better boxer than Breazeale.marvelous marv wrote: ↑19 May 2019, 00:13 If Wilder were to blow out Whyte in one round I think it would push the AJ fight further away.

I think it's because he picks the count up at 5 when he gets over Breazeale.dagilechia wrote: ↑18 May 2019, 23:18 impressive KO, Breazeale's terribly slow though.
DB was out anyway but only i had the impression that the count was very quick?
Though that means it took time to direct Deontay to the neutral corner...
But if you start the count from Breazeale hitting the canvas, it seems reasonable, perhaps even slow...
Anyway, he wasn't continuing after that, not in the first round - that fight was over!
Great mandatory
Here is the knock out

It was impressive from Wilder.Nondescript wrote: ↑19 May 2019, 00:08 True. Although let's not forget that it took Joshua 7 rounds of systemically beating Breazeale down to get the same result.
Joshua has come on a bit since he fought Breazeale too.

Great finish & the thing I liked most about it was that the shot that ended it was a straight right, not one of the wild, roundhouse punches he used to KO Ortiz!! Looks like Breland has Deontay making some stylistic adjustments...he also had a nice body shot & he hardly ever throws those.
Re: Round-by-Round: Deontay Wilder vs. Dominic Breazeale - May 18, 2019
he didnt even get a chance to go for a finish because it was done as soon as he landed thhat
he often throws the right nice and straight until he hurts the guy, then he goes all windmill

Breazeale was made for Wilder. Slow and wide opened. Still Wilder failed a bit, when he was caught while windmilling. He just needed someone with more will to fight back to finally get caught for this. And that happened. But yeah, that moment didn't change anything. I just thought, the bout would be a bit longer.

I’ve only just watched the fight and did so on a computer phone, also referred to as an eye phone.
Legit kO and legit stoppage imo especially given Breazeale was hurt moments before however the stoppage made me reflect on The Fury fight. Fury is very lucky he didn’t have that ref imo, the fight would have been stopped.

Nah, Fury was rising better. Fury stood up faster, he wasn't shaky after he regained his ground.lazboy wrote: ↑19 May 2019, 04:46 I’ve only just watched the fight and did so on a computer phone, also referred to as an eye phone.

That was extremely impressive. I did envisage that as a possible scenario, and while I did expect Wilder to win, I actually thought that Breazeale's toughness left him in with a good chance of an upset. I'm feeling pretty silly now.
I don't know why the WBC are so hell-bent on keeping Dillian Whyte away from Wilder. He's a better boxer than Breazeale but not so good that he can avoid the right hand all night. We have seen Dillian caught and hurt several times (Joshua, Chisora, Parker, Helenius) and I'd give him only an outside chance of sticking around long enough to knock out Wilder.

The key point is that Whyte can't avoid right hand for all night. Whyte can look good like Szpilka, for example, for about a half of the fight and then gets caught. All those fights against top contenders are good, of course, but not really intriguing. Fury-Wilder-Joshua bouts are most wanted. Wilder's speech after the Breazeale bout is frustrating with all that patience talkings. These fights must be held right now, if history of Lewis-Bowe teaches us something.candyslim wrote: ↑19 May 2019, 05:35 That was extremely impressive. Absolutely agree. Especially as has been said already, the comment that nobody wanted to see Ruiz or Breazeale. That may well be the brutal truth, but it's extremely disrespectful to say that about a fighter, never mind one who is just feet away from you. A fighter who has just been crushed and humiliated by someone he despises in front of a worldwide audience,Impractical Poster wrote: ↑18 May 2019, 23:29 Jim Grey is absurd. He gets all huffy puffy because Breazeale refused an interview. The dude just got knocked silly, idiot! He should take a page out of Joe Rogan's book and not interview a fight right after they got ktfo.
Unbelievable that you would then wonder why he isn't interested in talking to you. It really doesn't say much for Grey's judgement nor his ability to relate to what others might be feeling. What a dickhead.

And I liked "nobody wanted to see Ruiz or Breazeale" comments. Well, I don't agree with it, cause I wanted to see them myself, but obviously Fury-Wilder-Joshua clashes are more important and time is against us in this situation.candyslim wrote: ↑19 May 2019, 05:58 Absolutely agree. I'd like to see them fight each other. Ruiz v Breazeale is far more appealing than either against one of the champions.
