the irony of him being leaner at 50
Maybe he can trim down and go for Cruiserweight gold
Bout right, had some top quality nightsblack panther wrote: ↑05 Oct 2023, 17:03 Funny story from today chaps. So there was an event at work and a special lunch and all. Whilst queuing up for my free lunch I was chatting to the people around me. Can't remember how it came up in the conversation but I mentioned how I used to box (amateur). Then this woman in front of me said oh the father of my children (the way she phrased it I surmised ex later. I'm a bit slow like that just found it odd way to express who someone was) was a boxer. I said oh really amateur or professional? She goes professional, I said oh wow what's his name she says Danny Williams.
I went effing mental I said " DANNY WILLIAMS! NO WAY! I'm a big fan!"
Anyways her and her friend didn't seem so impressed by that and ignored me after that. After that the whole day I was telling people, you know so and so, her ex knocked out Mike Tyson!![]()
Really reminded me what I big fan I was of Williams. Had so many amazing fights from the Sprott fights, M eehan, Keith Long, Bob Mirovic, Tyson, Mark Potter, even Scott Gammer. He really gave some amazing memories to British boxing.
Just so sad to see him go down this route.
That Gammer fight was mad. It seemingly came out of nowhere. He came to the ring in great shapeCoco wrote: ↑05 Oct 2023, 17:35Bout right, had some top quality nightsblack panther wrote: ↑05 Oct 2023, 17:03 Funny story from today chaps. Yeah I thought he was in great shape, under 17 stone. But then he said he felt weak at the weight and went back to 18 stone, which was too heavy really.wrighty wrote: ↑06 Oct 2023, 13:23That Gammer fight was mad. It seemingly came out of nowhere. You’d have thought she’d be happy with him given he’s been financing their kids education for the last 25 years.black panther wrote: ↑05 Oct 2023, 17:03 Funny story from today chaps. It’s an interesting point that perhaps he did have a lot of water retention when 6’2’’ and 18 stone plus. Presumably if today he’s on doctor prescribed TRT in the UK, he’d only get that if his natural testosterone production was in the toilet. Maybe it all helped with his durability and recovery a bit,, but definitively he was a better fighter under 17 stone.SeanBrennan wrote: ↑06 Oct 2023, 16:12 he used PEDS heavy, test and dbol, always caused heavy water retention to give him weight of 250 plus. He's in better shape now, likely using test cyp and growth. But should be nowhere near a boxing ring.
I hope so but I think we are always tempting fate with Danny and retirement.Controversial wrote: ↑14 Nov 2024, 08:33 Danny not boxed since August 2023 so looks like he’s stuck to it this time.
this did make me chuckle. Basically Kier retired him.
Really? Don’t you think maybe Filipovic just had a very padded record and was never any good to start with.tigermoth87 wrote: ↑15 Nov 2024, 03:23 I always think Danny Williams could have bounced back late on. In 2019 he took the 0 of feared puncher "The Butcher of Belgrade" Boban Filipovic who was Serbia's brightest prospect at the time with a 24-0 record.
So he still had a lot left in the tank.

Someone posted that infamous pic of Tyson sitting on his arse being propped up by the ropes and said something like "next time someone says Tyson is going to KO Jake Paul, this is Tyson in his very last career fight nearly 20 years ago against a useless club fighter".My T Sharp wrote: ↑15 Nov 2024, 07:12 It's interesting (and not surprising) that in the Tyson Paul build-up, they have not mentioned the job Danny Williams did on Tyson 20 years ago. Amazing combination to finish it after soaking up the initial storm.
Nah, Boban has cleared out the Serbian domestic scene. You don't take the 0 of Momcilo Nisic, Zrenjanin's most feared bareknuckle boxer, without having some skill.Controversial wrote: ↑15 Nov 2024, 07:20

I can't believe there are so many saps who believe this bollocks. Likely the same sort who think Triple H legitimately whacked CM Punk with a chair from behind or whatever.orbtastic wrote: ↑15 Nov 2024, 08:37
It's all pantomime anyway, the slap was fake, the reactions are all fake. Tyson sounds depressed one minute and completely disinterested the next. Some kid interviewed him this week and his reply was hilarious, he basically said we're all dying and nobody cares. She seemed completely unable to process it.

I used to work in Belgrade, people still discuss his clash with Haris Radmilovic to this very day.
