let's face it, formella's record is just as good or better than pretty much any of these brit level guys bandied about , it's just easy to say now that benn's beat him that he's no good, but the other guys still haven't proved they'd do much better

I don't think so. Jenkins is mere british level. That's been proven. He cuts up easily. I can't see how someone who lost to Sutcliffe Jr. is going to beat benn.

Yeah he’s come on a bundle but let’s not get carried away. That was the first time I’d seen Formella and was expecting a lot more from him but for all his faults he was still clipping Benn easy enough. I’m not taking to much from that win except that Benn has improved a lot let’s see how he gets on with someone who’s proven

By all accounts they made several offers to Jenkins to fight on Sky which FW rejected. Matchroom wanted to get Benn out this year so he couldn’t wait for purse bids to happen so took the Formella fight instead as, after purse bids, the Jenkins fight would have likely been late Jan/Feb next year.

Benn withdrew from purse bids so Jenkins is now fighting Essuman for, I would guess, an awful lot less than he would have got for fighting Benn.

Until last night I would have had Jenkins as favourite. Not any more though although I think his movement would make it a tougher fight than Formella.

Full respect to sutclifffe sr and jr, first i've heard of his dad passing.

Good progressive learning fight for Benn last night, still needs to work on his defense a bigger puncher might of done more damage than Formella last night, one thing I noticed is both Connor and his Dad have that knocked knees look when missing and getting hit.

Benn looked strong through the 10 rounds, I thought he might tire late on,but he seemed to keep his strength and shape putting it on Formella.

Speaking of Formella, the lad has taken a lot of punches in his last couple of fights, he's brave and needs a couple of easier comeback fights , hope he doesn't get put back in with another tough one next time out.

Because he wanted to fight this year rather than wait for potentially another 3 months to fight. Given he hadn’t fought for over 12 months I can understand why he’d want to do that.

Also whilst most of us would rather he fought Jenkins, on paper, you could argue that Formella is a tougher opponent.

It was a good fight for Benn and the win looks good on paper. Formella was a tad disappointing, tough as old boots but, it looked like a gym war in there.

I don't think there is much confidence in Benn's chin, but time will tell. I think Kelly would give him a lesson in boxing, even though Kelly is turning out to be more style than substance so far.

Jenkins was made several offers for the Benn fight, each one improved after the last, by all accounts Jenkins, Gary Lockett and his team were over the moon with the offer, Warren wouldnt allow it which frustrated Jenkins no end, even more so that he hasn't been given another fight in the meantime, Benn made the right move by taking on Formella, I feel sorry for Jenkins, a win over Benn would love opened some serious doors, looks at the cult status Fitzgerald got after beating Fowler

I don’t think Eddie has the same level of respect for the British title that FW does but each of those are for different reasons.

Benn - I’ve explained why and that makes sense to me. They made several offers for the fight to take place in November which weren’t accepted and Benn understandably wanted to stay active.

Fitzgerald is in no position to fight anyone at the moment let alone for the British title. At least his legal issues have been sorted though.

Richards is a frustrating one. He clearly picked joining Matchroom over a good quality British title fight. All of the bullshit that Richards is beyond British title level is just promotional bluster.

I didn’t realise Gill had pulled out of British title fight - who was he meant to go up against?
