FW was asked today when there’ll be an announcement re: the fight being on BT. He said ‘they’ll announcing whatever announcements in due course’ and then changed the subject very quickly.

I think Bob’s probably pushing this to be on Sky and maybe BT don’t want to pay up. Again, if that’s the case, I’m not sure how FW can justify his % from Tyson.

Surely BT will get paid having it on rather than pay.

Not like Fury is even based in UK.

He may as well not be Tyson’s promoter.

Wonder how many fights he has left under Frank.

Now that Arum’s for a Sky deal, fvck Frank and fvck BT.

I’m sure you’re right. They’ll probably have to pay to have the fight, but then hope they make money back on it on top of that profit from whatever it does on PPV.

BT have matching rights so will have to offer a cash amount for it and then get the bulk of the revenue, or offer a % split of the PPV sales.

Either way it’s essentially an open market and Sky will be looking to be aggressive particularly with them losing Matchroom.

Whichever U.K. broadcaster gets it is going to lose a ton of money, unless they can snag it cheaply.

COVID-19 outbreak in Tyson Fury camp jeopardizing fight vs. Deontay Wilder, sources say

There's a COVID-19 outbreak in Tyson Fury's camp, which will inevitably cause his July 24 heavyweight championship fight against Deontay Wilder to be postponed, sources told ESPN on Thursday.

No official determination has yet been made on whether the fight, set to be held at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and broadcast on ESPN+ PPV, will proceed as planned.

The fight is a joint pay-per-view with FOX, and that network has the Manny Pacquiao-Errol Spence Jr. PPV on Aug. 21, so it's likely Fury-Wilder 3 would be moved to September, sources told ESPN.

"It was a crazy roller coaster toward this fight," Fury said at last month's news conference in Los Angeles to promote the fight. "I always say, 'You're never fighting someone until you're in the ring opposite them.'"

Fury and Wilder have already competed against each other twice. The first meeting came in December 2018 and ended in a disputed draw. Despite suffering two knockdowns -- including one in the final round -- most observers believed Fury deserved the nod.

The "Gypsy King" left no doubt in the rematch in February 2020, scoring two knockdowns himself en route to a seventh-round stoppage after Wilder's cornerman, Mark Breland, threw in the towel.

Neither Fury, 32, nor Wilder has appeared in the ring since. Wilder, 35, exercised his contractual right to a third fight afterward, but COVID barred Top Rank (Fury's promoter) and PBC from staging the fight before a full audience.

The gate for the second bout generated $16,916,440 -- a Nevada record for a heavyweight title tilt. The pay-per-view, priced at $79.99, raked in nearly 900,000 buys, sources told ESPN.

Top Rank and PBC attempted to stage the bout in December after October was deemed unfeasible due to COVID restrictions, but the unexpected resumption of the college football season left few available PPV dates in the final month of 2020 with two networks involved.

Fury (30-0-1, 21 KOs) and his team then considered the rematch clause expired and pushed forward with negotiations for a mega fight with fellow Englishman Anthony Joshua that would crown an undisputed champion. The sides agreed to a deal in May with Fury announcing on May 16 the fight would take place Aug. 14 in Saudi Arabia.

In the background, an independent arbitrator, Daniel Weinstein, was determining whether Fury indeed owed Wilder (42-1-1, 41 KOs) a third fight. Top Rank chairman Bob Arum was deposed, as was his stepson, Top Rank president Todd duBoef. So, too, was PBC founder Al Haymon, Wilder's manager Shelly Finkel and PBC executive Bruce Binkow. Fury and Wilder also gave depositions.

On May 17, one day after Fury announced he would meet Joshua in August, Weinstein ruled that he owed Wilder another fight.

"I didn't feel any way about Fury trying to negotiate another fight," Wilder said at the presser last month in Los Angeles. "We knew we were in the right and we knew they couldn't run."

It now appears likely Wilder will have to wait a little while longer for that chance at revenge.

If it is BT then the delay may be down to whether to wrap the Joyce bill in with it to. Either way, assuming the Covid rumour is rubbish, they need to make a call quickly to promote it properly.

FFS. It's not until the 24th, today is the 8th Covid outbreak ? If Fury himself doesn't have Covid what's the issue, and why isn't proper protocols in place for testing/vaccination?

The cynic in me feels it's more nonsense and something else is off. Bad ticket sales? I don't think Brit/Irish fans are allowed travel are they?

Something smelled off with the lack of BT announcement.

Top Rank released a very short statement saying it’s still on as things stand.

Coppinger released the news and he works for ESPN - not sure why he’d be allowed to drop a bombshell like that when it could affect their business.

I’m not sure where they are with ticket sales but if you were thinking about going the doubt will rightly put you off.

Fury already vaccinated too supposedly. I'd question ticket sales myself but could be wrong.

David Haye had a lot during his career. Froch early in his career too, I think Froch v Tony Dodson was on 3 times and got cancelled 3 times this was just as Froch was or was about to win the British title.

It always seemed like Wilder Fury 3 was inevitable, and that team Fury knew that. Dereck Chisora knew that. I don't know why Hearn kept on going on about dates and venues and Saudi etc when Fwank wasn't saying much and Arum was telling him to shut his mouth. Wilder's arbitration could always go his way, especially with the money the PBC bring. I like Fury and very much dislike Wilder, so I'm interested in this third fight.

Boxing history is littered with rematches, rubber matches, guys that gel well and produce exciting fights. People will continue to complain about this era until it's over. The truth is, AJ has the much better overall resume, but Fury has the best wins (in a very solid younger version of Wlad and the dominant beatdown of Wilder, who was supposed to have been AJ's arch nemesis) and Wilder looked like a force of nature until Fury 2.

I like the fight. And I think they'll all fight each other, eventually. I mean, f*ck me, we're still not out of COVID yet. It's not a normal time. I like our upcoming heavyweight schedule.

And, by the way, f*ck Saudi Arabia. Fury Joshua, should they both get through their next fights, should be in the UK. That's it. We should win the Euros, and get an all all British super fight at Wembley. I'm glad it's off if that was where it was headed.

So the fight is definitely off now and they’re talking about it taking place in October.

As with Lopez it’s poor on Fury’s part that he hasn’t had both jabs yet - they’re reporting he only had one.

Apparently the source of Covid was a sparring partner. If true that’s also really poor. Given the money involved anyone entering the camp should be tested before getting up close and personal with any of the team.

This all sounds to convenient. Has Fury even demonstrated taken this fight camp serious? other than a message on social media and a couple short clips; nothing has suggested he has been doing anything other than ticking over at best.
