Just caught up on some of the interviews from yesterday.

There’s a rematch clause if Parker wins. It’s contracted to be on Sky though. No rematch if Joyce wins.

Whilst Frank says they had a deal done a few months back it’s pretty clear it wasn’t. Parker was saying Frank wanted Parker to have 2/3 more fights on BT after the fight and said there were sticking points around who paid for flights/other expenses. Not the first time Frank’s had this kind of issue.

Shalom spoke quite well in his interviews whilst make a few digs at Eddie. He was saying no one should be trying to take over the sport, making other people look bad and trying to put other promoters out of business and promoters should be more willing to work with others to make big fights happen. I don’t think anyone would disagree with him. Frank tried to belittle him a little bit at the press conference and he didn’t rise to it either.

But in all seriousness, why is there a one way rematch clause on this? The WBO would have eventually had to mandate this fight, as Joyce is currently #1 by default not on performances.

Are you sure it isn't just a two fight deal for both men?

Yep - Joyce’s manager explained how the rematch clause worked. Will only happen if Parker wins but if he does then it’ll be on Sky rather than BT.

Depending on how the fight goes it may be a tough sell for Sky Sports but let’s see.

Wow! A one way rematch clause for a guy in his first real step up fight with nothing officially on the line. Awful really

“It was very tortuous to be dealing with allegedly and Adam Morallee and all their team,” Parker said on making the Joyce fight. “It was tortuous. Listen, if we shake someone’s hand on a one fight deal and you change to a three fight deal, then the contract keeps changing. How tortuous is that?! You know, you promise this, you promise that, all the sudden the contract comes back has changed.

“So I’ll only sign the contract if it’s the right terms and what we all agreed to. But when you agree to something and it keeps changing, why would I sign the deal?”

On the changes that were presented in the actual contract
“While I shook his hand for a one fight deal, Joe Joyce, then the contract came as a three fight deal. And then things like flights, accommodations — all these things that fighters are supposed to get, the wording in the contract, things keep changing, and we weren’t happy with the terms. I got my lawyer and my manager looking at it and it wasn’t something I was happy to sign...when you’re not happy you can’t go into a contract that doesn’t make sense for you.”

On Warren’s position that Parker could have tried to renegotiate the proposed deal if he wasn’t satisfied
“He was (nonnegotiable). He wouldn’t move, he wouldn’t budge. I tried to say ‘hey, listen, can we do this and do that?’ — wouldn’t budge, wouldn’t move. So he can say I should’ve talked to him and (I) could’ve renegotiated, he wasn’t willing to from the beginning. It was either take it or leave it, that’s the stance that we had.

“When I did the deal with Dillian Whyte, it was a handshake. When I did the deal with Joshua it didn’t take that long. Like the fight shouldn’t take that long to lock in.”

On if he has a soured relationship with Warren now
“No, it’s not frosty, this is part of boxing. It’s boxing business. If the business side of things was easier to deal with it would be great but everyone’s got to be happy moving into a fight and I’m glad that we’re here now. I’m glad that I’ve signed with Boxxer and Sky and they’ve allowed me to fight on BT. So they have my best interest because they’re not stopping the fight from happening because it’s a different network. And I’ve signed with them because they want to make me their fighter, not the B fighter like Frank was gonna make me.

“Frank didn’t care about me, ‘he’s the B fighter, he’s gonna come in and fight our fighters’ and he wanted me to get smashed up and move on.”

It’s decent because they are evenly matched but hardly stacked, I’ll watch it for the main event but this undercard does not get me excited..

- Euro bantamweight with 2 guys making no noise in the div. neither can punch…
- ekow the human Valium in an eh fight where neither can punch.
- Ava in what I assume is another knock over job (happily be corrected on this as I don’t really know his opponent).

What’s the 2nd British title fight?

Edit: oh it’s Heffron he is fun at least, if they get him in a 50-50 I’d be keen to see it.

ya, has nothing on the romford bull vs a can, or connor in a 2 round knockover, or jake paul vs a youtuber. that's really the only boxing i can get behind these days, especially with ebbs on comms

i think undercard there looks pretty solid, i like baluta-davies and miguez is better than the last couple ava oppoonents. ava always fun anyway. essuman was boring last fight but is usually decent enough to watch and it's a close match with antwi. if heff is in with someone decent that's even better. not too interested in fletcher, etc vs cans or the woman

add the main event in, and it's a good card

Oi margs I said it’s decent. Just don’t think it’s “stacked”.

I can’t see many of those fights dragging casuals in for the PPV…

Davies - Baluta & Essuman - Antwi are cracking 50/50 fights.

Avanesyan’s opponent is much better than the last one and should be a good fight.

They are talking about a step up for Nathan Heaney which should be good.

If they can add Heffron v Cullen or a reasonable opponent, than I don’t see how anybody can complaint about the card

i mean, it's not stacked as in good world title fight after good world title fight like Don King used to put on..........but for domestic/euro level fights it's pretty deep there. and if they can also get solid opponents for heany and heff......then the whole card with joe vs joe as the main is really good stuff. i can actually tolerate the promoter stacked hyperbole then. i much prefer this type of 'stacked' to 5 elite guys/big names vs knockovers type of 'stacked'

now.....they gotta actually hold it together and hopefully turn the remaining tbas into good opponents

It is a FW card after all. Let’s hope there isn’t, but I expect pull outs.

I like the thought of Heffron V Cullen on this card…two local lads who stand and trade - that would make for a good scrap . However the way FW and Gallagher work I think Cullen is probably too risky for Heffrons first defence and they would turn that down.

It’s about time Heaney had a decent test too ..hopefully a competitive domestic fight against someone coming to win instead of imports collecting a few quid with no intent at all .
Heaney is 33 and yet to have a decent test. I hope I’m wrong but his opponent is likely to have a losing record and from a weight or two weight classes below .

Main event is very intriguing for me this is a big big step up for Joyce. I think people have sort of forgotton that DDD was 3 rounds from beating Joyce and I think Parker style wise could be problematic. He is fit and has a pretty big heart when under the cosh. I think Parker's lack of power isn't as much of a factor in this fight compared to others as Joyce can walk through even the biggest of punchers.

Tough fight to call as Joyce has only had one "world class" (and we don't know about DDD yet) test at world level as a pro. Leaning towards Joe to eek out a close decision (just through him being fresher than Chisora in the first Parker fight), but wouldn't be suprised if Parker got a fairly clear points win either.

Not an attractive card for me , especially a PPV but unless they start bombing financially that is what we get. I guess Heaney is on the bill to shift tickets too

I’ve received about 10 emails over the last 2 days inviting me to buy tickets for this. Good to see they’re pushing it.

They need to push it. Joyce only had about 1,500 people at his last fight and isn’t much of a self promoter.

I was hoping for Cullen. Would have been for the British if it was him. Same with the rematch.

I’m from Bolton myself so would be chuffed if it was him but Cullen is with Hearn and I can’t see him doing Queensbury PPV any favours.

Does Cullen actually have a contract with Matchroom ?
