his career has definitely derailed since, although Jack's is hardly storming ahead.

It appears (to me, anyway) that Josh has reached a plateau. Another part feels that Jack fought so well and was unfairly adjudged the loser, can he do it again?

I suppose, its a combination of how much Josh has left and if Jack can fight like that again. Teofilo bossed Taylor badly, which surprised me. The Linares win was decent but Linares was nowhere near what he was.

Still, I fancy Caterall but as long as it is a good fight and fair, I don't mind who wins.

By the time this comes around, if it ever does, Josh will have had just one fight in over 2 years in which he looked not very good. If this is at 140 he’s in big trouble.

There’s genuine enmity between the two to the extent that I don’t think Josh would want to give Jack the payday if it wasn’t his (Josh’s) only serious option. It’s got cash out fight written all over it.

Hate myself for saying this, but Taylor should mobe up and flatten Benn. Makes tonnes more money, easier fight, more comfortable weight.

Very surprising to hear this is planned for 140, got to worry that even if Taylor makes the weight he will be seriously depleted come fight night. I hope for the spectacle he can be somewhere near to his best but after the last 2 years, injuries included, you have to think those best days may have been and gone (certainly at 140 anyway).

Josh Taylor vs. Jack Catterall Rematch: Date and Venue Agreed. Catterall Signs His End

Boxing Scene has learned that a date and venue have finally been agreed for Josh Taylor (19-1, 13 KO’s) and Jack Catterall (28-1, 13 KO’s) to reignite their rivalry.

As long as there are no last minute hitches, the bitter rivals will renew hostilities at the First Direct Arena in Leeds on April 27th.

Sources told Boxing Scene that Catterall has signed his end of the deal and that Taylor’s signature is the only thing holding up an official announcement.

The two have been embroiled in a bitter war of words since February 2022 when they met in Glasgow for Taylor’s undisputed super lightweight title.

Catterall appeared to outbox Taylor for long periods but the gritty Scotsman got off the floor in the eighth round and clung on to his titles via a disputed split decision. The decision caused outrage and the two have been at loggerheads since.

Taylor relinquished his WBC, IBF and WBA belts due to pending mandatory orders - and then lost his WBO super lightweight title to a resurgent Teofimo Lopez in a mostly one-sided encounter in New York City last June.

Catterall has boxed twice since. He beat Darragh Foley last May and then comfortably outpointed Venezuelan veteran Jorge Linares in Liverpol last October.

That crossed my mind too. Two fiery characters who would certainly drum up interest on social media and at press conferences. Maybe a summer fight at a stadium in Edinburgh would work.

Atmosphere would be pretty epic for that and in theory would attract quite a lot of casual interest with the two pretty volatile personalities, England v Scotland etc. Mind you Taylor couldn't manage to get that dream Edinburgh fight location secured (albeit he always wanted Edinburgh Castle) even when he was undisputed and flying at the top of his game so it may be a bit of a pipe dream, but then again Benn's handlers might feel it would be good timing for them especially if Taylor loses again to Jack (would probably be in England in that case though). Whoever eventually takes Benn out I'll be delighted either way

Benn v Taylor is one of those fights where I'd support a mutual KO.

I don't think Taylor will be the same after that Teofimo loss. He took a drubbing there and more importantly - was outmanned, out alpha'd. All the hard man act has to be affected internally at least.
