Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury close to November 20 fight in New York

A deal is close for Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury to finally meet on November 20 with New York’s Madison Square Garden still the likeliest venue.

The heavyweight rivals have been linked for the best part of the last decade, but though it was reported by the Daily Mail that all parties were finally in agreement, Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn insists the deal is not quite done yet.

Joshua initially signed a contract that stipulated that the fight must happen in the UK. Fury's contract, however, did not.

"We are in constant communication with Turki [Alalshikh] and SELA but as of yet there is no agreement to any variation within the contract," the Matchroom boss said Tuesday in reaction to reports that the fight was done and would be staged in America. Hearn has repeatedly stated that both he and Joshua want the fight in the UK but all other parties have agreed on New York. A new contract will need to be agreed by Team Joshua before it is officially confirmed.

“I've got some big news that's going to be dropped very, very soon,” Fury had said earlier in the day. “All is good in the hood, big fight on the horizon. It's the one you've all been waiting for. About to be announced imminently. Stay tuned.”

BS understands that a deal is close and is likely to be formally announced in the coming week.

F*ck the fight and everyone involved.
Eddie talked all that smack about how the fight had to be in the UK, probably just so they'd pay them good money to change the location.
They didn't give a sh!t at all.

I'm gonna watch the highlights the day after... maybe.

If this fight does happen in America, then both Queensbury boxing and Eddie Hearn will and must understand 'that if they were promoting fights by themselves like they have always done? Then this mega fight between two British fighters, would have not been in America'.

Note: Of course the entire situation mostly was engineered by Tyson Fury 'and his recent distancing of himself from Queensbury. But both Queensbury boxing and Hearn should have seen potential situations like this arising, soon as they decided to defer their influence and power in the game to other fight promoters'.

You must give credit to Queensbury boxing, they have made big Heavyweight title fights in Great Britain for British fighters 'Frank Bruno vs. Oliver McCall, Daniel Dubois vs. Oleksandr Uysk II and Daniel Dubois vs. Fabio Wardley I' etc.

Foolish to have this fight in the US.

It has little meaning to anyone on this side of the Atlantic, except for a few hard-core fans like myself. It would still be an immensely popular fight in the UK though.

Netflix is just looking after their largest group of subscribers.
No matter where it is held it is on Netflix and it will be watched by several million.
But it should be held in London. It is the right thing to do.

‘It’s disappointing’: Eddie Hearn admits Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua likely headed to America

Eddie Hearn seemingly won’t be able to deliver the UK’s biggest fight to its home fans.

While there’s been talk of an impending official announcement of Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua with an actual date and location, Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn says he doesn’t believe any real announcement can be imminent as they’ve yet to agree to any changes in a contract they’ve signed for the fight. That distinction has proven to be a bit of a sticking point as Hearn has repeatedly said they’ve signed for the fight in the UK, but all roads now seem lead to America .

“It seems like everybody is adamant that the fight takes place in New York,” Hearn said. “I mean, there isn’t really any consideration, there’s no willingness to speak to the government, Sadiq Khan, Transport for London. It’s just like ‘we want to do this fight in America.’ Tyson Fury has agreed to do it in America, and we haven’t at the moment.

“So we’re talking through a roadmap of what that might look like, to change the deal, and if they do all the thing that we discussed and agreed in principle, then I think there’s a very good chance the fight will happen in America. We’ll be disappointed but I can’t sit here and say to you — it’s like everything falls on deaf ears, right?

“You signed a contract to do the fight in England. Why don’t you do it in England?…‘No, Netflix want it in America. No, Turki Alalshikh wants it in America. No, no, no, no.’ So, our conversations are like ‘okay, well if you want it in America, this is what we’d like to change within the contract and you agree to that, we got a fight.’

“We don’t want to change the contract. We don’t want to change the venue or the host country, but we will talk to you — if you’re that desperate for it, we’ll try to find a way to help, but it’s disappointing. But it is what it is. It’s been going on for a month and they haven’t changed their mind and there hasn’t even been a conversation about the UK.”

They had the power and influence to do this a long time ago 'but in recent years, they have deferred their influence and power in the game to other fight promoters. This is not their fight, and it should not go down in their resumes as fight promoters'.

But like I have said before? It has always been common knowledge that 'Tyson Fury has never wanted this fight. The only time he pipes up and starts getting all brave towards Joshua, is whenever Anthony Joshua is experiencing a vulnerable situation in his career'.

Note: And even then? Anthony Joshua has every single time 'accepted the fight against him. The last time we were in this situation which was 2022, Tyson Fury completely disassembled before our eyes and sabotaged the fight. Those are the facts'.

Its 2026, and Tyson Fury is still somehow trying his best to engineer a situation 'where he can get out of this fight. Stylistically I have always believed that is a very difficult fight for him to win'.

I have no malice towards Tyson Fury, and I rate him as a fighter 'but he has throughout his career tactically avoided fights. He avoided David Price, when that was one of the biggest domestic fight's that could be made. And I have never believed that he wanted to fight Anthony Joshua'.

Tyson Fury has been forced into this fight via public pressure 'and due to his heritage, he has to honour his fighting culture' etc.

And Belly is still terrified of losing to Joshua.

Maybe this is an extremely minor factor, but Netflix are, I assume, primarily paying for content. It is likely a large financial investment, so understandably they want as many viewers as possible. But the strength of their platform is that their content is on demand, rather than live or dictated by schedule. And typically when they drop XXX millions on movies and series, it is content that can sit on their platform meaningfully for years to come.

Now sports fans will of course prefer to watch a fight live, but an event of greater spectacle would surely motivate repeat viewers or just the many who did not see it on the day, would it not?

To that I question, why then would they hold it in America, thus reducing the significance of the event, instead of at Wembley in front of a passionate stadium crowd.

Have they already given up on this fight being content beyond the initial fight night? Do they think this fight is going to drive subscriptions in America?
The location, effectively stealing a culturally relevant fight from Britain, seems just as likely to reduce subscriptions in protest.

But maybe we are a small drop over the pond

Eddie Hearn lists demands for Anthony Joshua-Tyson Fury to go ahead in New York

Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing will present an addendum to Saudi Arabia’s event management/entertainment company Sela on Thursday detailing the requirements necessary to bring the anticipated Anthony Joshua-Tyson Fury heavyweight showdown to New York’s Madison Square Garden on November 20, Boxing Scene has learned.

In the addendum, Matchroom won't budge from its position of not permitting the new Zuffa Boxing to promote the bout, leaving Sela as the likely compromise choice to preside over the event.

The addendum’s list of requests has not been fully disclosed, but Boxing Scene has learned that, in addition to standard contractual inclusions addressing ticket requests, security, and transportation assurances, Matchroom is seeking to ensure Joshua collects his remaining purse earnings from his second-round knockout of Kristian Prenga July 25 in Saudi Arabia.

Boxing Scene has separately reviewed information connected to Matchroom’s dialogue with Sela, the company connected to powerful Saudi Arabia boxing financier Turki Alalshikh, who owns 60 percent of the Las Vegas-based Zuffa Boxing that UFC CEO/President Dana White fronts.

Another potential element connected to the November 20 card identifies plans for a powerful string of Matchroom bouts to potentially be placed on the Madison Square Garden show.

Those proposed – but not yet signed – bouts include a bantamweight unification between three-division champion Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez and Mexico’s WBC champion Christian Medina, a WBA secondary welterweight title fight between England’s Jack Catterall and American Keyshawn Davis and the WBA heavyweight championship pitting Murat Gassiev versus Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller.

Australian heavyweight Teremoana Jnr and UK’s Odel Kamara may also be placed on the Joshua-Fury card.

Boxing Scene has reviewed additional communication between Matchroom and Sela, which have worked together since late 2023.

Alalshikh’s bond with Zuffa Boxing and White has tightened from their staging the Canelo Alvarez-Terence Crawford superfight in Las Vegas in September 2025, heightening the rivalry between White and Hearn, who has delivered Alalshikh his top talent to perform in Saudi Arabia and elsewhere globally.

In that prior communication, which an official insisted is not part of the Joshua-Fury addendum, Matchroom has asked Sela for this:

– All monies payable to Matchroom across all future darts and snooker events to be paid immediately.

– International promotional fees plus deposits for World Series of Darts and 167 Riyadh Season events.

– Formal confirmation that the Ronnie O’Sullivan Academy [snooker] license [be] renewed for a third year, and [that] those future invoices [be] paid now.

– Pay all other funds owed to Matchroom for prior boxing events.

Tyson Fury labels Anthony Joshua a 'coward' in light of contract dispute

Tyson Fury has accused Anthony Joshua of running scared after Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn revealed that Joshua would not agree to a fight in New York unless certain conditions were met.

Boxing Scene first reported in June that Joshua’s contract for the proposed Fury showdown stipulated a UK location while Fury’s contract did not.

It was reported in July that November 20 at Madison Square Garden had been slated as the respective date and location due to Saudi Arabian promotional giants Sela, Turki Alalshikh, and broadcasters Netflix, believing it would generate a bigger audience, and in turn greater revenue, on US soil.

It’s understood that all parties, bar Joshua and Matchroom, agreed.

On Thursday, Boxing Scene broke the news that Matchroom had provided Sela with an addendum detailing the requirements for the change of contract, and for the contest, between two British heavyweights, to go ahead in New York.

If those conditions could not be met, which include Joshua getting his full purse for the July victory over Kristian Prenga in July, they would demand the fight to take place in the UK as per the original contract.

“It doesn't look like they are going to sign the fight and it doesn't look like it is going to happen all because [Joshua's promoter] Eddie Hearn and that want more money," Fury said on Friday. "They have already had that much money off Turki [Alalshikh] over the last few years Eddie and 'AJ', they have had boxing deals, they have had darts deals, they have had snooker deals, they have had everything."

"And yet, they have got the audacity and cheek of flea-bitten rats to ask for more money from old Turki that you have had combined over the last couple of years.

"Keep on running you cowards."

I wonder if there is a potential to move this fight date 'if the proposed fight date is November 20th, I honestly? Don't think that is enough time for the fighters to prepare for a fight of this magnitude. And then of course you have all the undercard fighters'.

Note: The recent negotiations of Fury vs. Joshua 'look very similar to late 2022 negotiations. With Tyson Fury engineering obstacles, and stalling the fight. Either because he is petrified of Anthony Joshua, or has other fights he wants to make. Eventually the 2022 proposed fight did not happen'.

I would be surprised if the fighters where only left with just over two months of preparation 'for such a mega boxing event, that is not ideal in my opinion. Both fight teams have to plan, their training programs before going into training camp etc.

Eddie Hearn: 'There have been breaches in Anthony Joshua's contract for Tyson Fury fight'

Eddie Hearn has accused TKO of leaking emails in order to push a narrative regarding Matchroom’s demands for Anthony Joshua-Tyson Fury to take place in the US.

Talks of staging a long-overdue contest between Joshua and Fury appeared to hit a standstill after it was revealed that the event’s chief financier, Turki Alalshikh, was looking to take the fight stateside.

However, in Joshua’s contract it stipulates that the contest must take place in the UK.

Boxing Scene’s Lance Pugmire reported on Thursday the details of an addendum sent to Saudi Arabia’s event management/entertainment company Sela by Matchroom – Joshua’s promoter – with their demands to accept the fight taking place in New York’s Madison Square Garden.

The report detailed standard contractual inclusions addressing ticket requests, security, and transportation assurances, and also that Joshua collects his remaining purse from his second-round knockout of Kristian Prenga on July 25 in Saudi Arabia.

The report also included a string of bouts that Matchroom suggested take place on the undercard.

Also mentioned were requests that were not part of the addendum. These were that all monies payable to Matchroom across all future darts and snooker events be paid immediately, international promotional fees plus deposits for World Series of Darts and 167 Riyadh Season events, confirmation that the Ronnie O’Sullivan Academy snooker license be renewed for a third year, and that all other funds owed to Matchroom for prior boxing events be paid immediately. Hearn insists these were nothing to do with Joshua-Fury negotiations.

Regardless, Hearn is adamant they still hope to bring the fight to London’s Wembley Stadium.

“The reality is no one's really acknowledging that we've signed the contract,” said Hearn. “People say, ‘Oh, the fight could fall through.’ It can't fall through. It can't, unless Sela and Saudi want to breach the contract and not stage a fight they've signed to stage, which wouldn't happen either. ‘Anthony Joshua wants to walk away from the fight.’ We can't walk away from the fight. We've signed a contract. So we're in. All we need is Turki Alalshikh or Netflix to call us and say, Wembley Stadium or wherever in the UK, this is the date. We'll have the press conference this week. It's done.”

Reports have also suggested that Hearn is requesting Joshua be paid more if the bout takes place in the US to make up for the extra tax he will incur.

“What they want to do is they want to pay Anthony Joshua less money, because that's how it will work out with the difference in location,” explained Hearn. “They want him to do a load of additional stuff. And I'm not going to blow things up, which I could do so easily, but there has been breaches in Joshua's contract already, which we've let slide because these guys are our partners, and our friends, or were. But there's a game being played at the moment where some of you guys are being fed emails and information to try and dress things up to spin a narrative that's just not true. And I'll address that now.

“Lance Pugmire phones me up, and I had a number of other calls as well. ‘Oh, this email has just landed on my desk from you.’ Firstly, that's a plant, and it was sent by TKO to journalists to basically try and… I actually was told by a number of people that they're actually financially incentivising people to repost Tyson Fury's story of him trying to spin a narrative. It's absolutely wild what's going on.

“The email that was sent was an email between Matchroom and Sela detailing outstanding points that we want resolved,” he continued. “The addendum that was sent to Sela regarding the changes that we want to the contract if you want to do the fight in the US did not have one of those things from that leaked email in. So it's just a mental game. And I can't believe these people are actually going to these lengths. It's unbelievably flattering that people in their position, with their power, want to do things like that. But it's a dirty, dirty game.

“And I'm just shocked at the way it's playing out because we don't breach contracts. We never have. When we sign up to something, when we agree to something. When we shake hands on something, it's done. So, yeah, it's disappointing. Now, we get a lot less money if we take the fight in America compared to the UK. Is that fair, having signed a contract?”

The reports detailing missed payments from Saudi Arabia to Matchroom and Hearn’s subsequent comments would lead one to believe there could be a rift growing between the two parties.

“Well, the only reason that came out is because it was leaked by their partners [TKO]. I didn't go to them,” Hearn said. “I think someone from a certain team phoned me and goes, ‘Oh, did you leak that email?’ I was like, ‘Are you mad? What, leaking an email about a Ronnie O'Sullivan snooker academy to try and make myself look bad? Yeah, yeah, definitely.’

“What they tried to do was take an email that wasn't even in the context of an addendum and pretend that these were all the things that we were asking for in the addendum. Luckily enough, I had the addendum and none of it was in there. So I had the opportunity to go back to these journalists and Lance Pugmire and others and say, ‘100 per cent we are not asking for those things.’

“I don't want to be talking about missed payments and what we've been promised and what we have. I don't want to air laundry like that. But that was done by them, which was even more mental. Not by the Sela, but by their partners. So, crazy. Desperation.”

The proposed date of November 20 at New York’s Madison Square Garden is quickly approaching and Hearn admitted time is running out for that date.

“We've sent them our thoughts on changes we would want if the fight was to take place in America,” he said. “We've said we don't want you to make those changes, but it's been a couple of days now. We haven't heard back. We've been told we're going to receive some comments on that. But don't forget, Netflix is spending a lot of money. They want a big build-up. They want all these press conferences and stuff like that. And we have to get in camp. So at the moment, this week is probably the deadline for the proposed date.”

When pressed on a deadline for the fight to happen in New York, Hearn responded: “I can't tell you that, because that's not my show, but yeah, I think we're running out of time.”

Despite all parties bar Matchroom seemingly keen on staging the contest in New York, Hearn remains hopeful that everyone will see sense and stage the fight in the UK.

“All this stuff over the last couple of weeks has only, not intentionally, but it's only grown the demand and the size of this fight,” he said. “If Turki Alalshikh and Netflix come back now and say the fight's happening at Wembley, November 21st, imagine, the country would go nuts. Netflix should be looking at that saying, ‘Yeah, you know what, this story's quite incredible. Imagine what Britain would do if they now landed that fight.’

“100,000 people at a national stadium. Listen, if it's in New York, we'll all go. I'm sure it'll be great, we'll be looking around, but let's be honest, everybody in this room, standing in Wembley Stadium with 100,000 Brits, looking around as Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua ring walk. I mean, I could fornicating retire on the spot. You know what I mean? And I know that I'm going to go to New York, and listen, we'll do our job and all that kind of stuff. It's just not going to be the same. And that's why we're fighting so hard.”

Hearn also admitted he would not budge on Dana White or TKO being involved as promoters of the event. However, he admitted he would not be able to stop White standing on stage if Fury signs with Zuffa Boxing or an advisory role with the UFC head.

“That's not getting changed. The promoter of the fight is Turki Alalshikh,” Hearn said. “Tyson Fury said something interesting. See, Fury's always up to games, ‘Dana, come on my team. Be my manager. Be my advisor.’ So, yeah, if Tyson Fury signs with Dana White, I probably can't do a lot about him being on Tyson Fury's team. But what he can't be is what he said he was, which is the promoter of the event. Now all of a sudden he's backtracking, saying he spoke to the venue and he checked their availability and he did the deal. So he's a venue booker now. But what he's not is the promoter of the event.

“I think the person who has really kiboshed this event is Dana because of his attitude.”

'No one can pull out' of Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury fight - Eddie Hearn

Eddie Hearn has said that "no one can pull out" of the anticipated heavyweight showdown between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.

Joshua's promoter Hearn is confident the fight would go ahead as the contracts have been signed, despite Fury's comments earlier this week that the fight "doesn't look like it is going to happen."

Speaking to DAZN, Hearn said: "We've signed the contract, we're waiting for a date. You saw Tyson Fury shouting and screaming ... There's nothing to shout and scream about, the fight's done.

"The fight's signed. No one can pull out of the fight. You can't just pull out of a contract.

"There's no suggestion that the fight's not happening, no one can stop this fight from happening. The only way it can stop from happening is if they actually breach the contract."

While a date in November seems to have been agreed, there is much conversation as to where the one of the biggest fights in British boxing history will take place.

Both Fury and Joshua have signed separate contracts with Saudi Arabian-owned organisers Sela.

Hearn has insisted their deal includes a clause for the fight to be staged in the UK but Sela's preference is for New York's famed Madison Square Garden to play host.

"We know everybody and his dog involved in the fight wants to do the fight in America. We don't," Hearn said.

"We've told Sela and the team if you want to do it in America, these are the terms that we can move forward with. But we'd rather not please."
