It’s a fight well past its sell by date but I’d watch it and would be happy if AJ won. Would be an excellent way to go out. Eddie talking about AJs comeback fight being against a top 15 person but not top 5, probably wise. Wonder who it will be? Any thoughts or insight here?
Plenty of fights took place after it's sell by date passed, but yh, we still watch then.
Tyson-Lewis was years past its sell-by, but still a huge fight at the time. Lewis only took it to 'add' Tyson's name to his record. was the only name missing other than Bowe.
Khan-Brook was past as well, but majority was still interested just to see them close off their careers against each other.
May-Pac, you could say was past it too. prime for prime it should have been 2009-2010..
Every big fight of the last 20 or so years has been past it's sell by date. Big name fighters meeting in their primes is a thing of the past.
Bert Bivol I'd say were pretty prime

Boxing is a young mans game
100% You get older you see the opening
You know whats coming but theres nothing you can do about either LOL
Exactly that, and furthermore much easier to pick up niggling injuries, takes longer to shake them, and recovery time in general is much more

Not to mention the odds of long term permeant brain injury go up every year past 35, and doesn't seem to differentiate between weight classes either.

Eddie Hearn delivers positive update on Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury chances
Eddie Hearn has revealed that he and Anthony Joshua are focussing on a deal for him to finally face Tyson Fury next summer after positive talks with Turki Alalshikh.
Hearn posted a picture alongside the chairman of the Saudi Arabia General Entertainment Authority and head of Riyadh Season after lengthy discussions in Riyadh, which he says took in a number of sports as well as boxing.
But, when asked about the meeting by The Ring’s Louis Hart, the Matchroom chairman said that the long-awaited heavyweight battle of Britain between Joshua and Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) was high on the agenda.
“He wants to make AJ against Fury, that’s no secret,” Hearn said of Alalshikh. “He wants to make the biggest fights in the sport and that is the biggest fight in boxing right now. We’ve got to agree our end and then it’s up to Turki whether he can get Fury in the ring.
“The best thing about these situations now is that it’s not me speaking to allegedly or Spencer Brown or Tyson Fury trying to do a deal. We just have to do our deal and if Turki can make the fight then it’s on. If he can’t, it’s not on.
“We are focussing on that side. We have a plan for AJ to get him back in the ring as soon as possible and then lead up to a huge fight against Tyson Fury in 2026. We will do our deal with Turki and he will try and do his deal with Tyson Fury. Fingers crossed we can make it happen.”
Joshua recently dropped out of The Ring’s heavyweight rankings following a year of inactivity since his crushing fifth-round defeat to Daniel Dubois in September last year.
With Oleksandr Usyk as Ring Magazine champion, Fury remains No. 1 in the rankings despite announcing his retirement because his second fight with the Ukrainian icon took place in December.
Fury, 37, has reaffirmed his commitment to staying retired on many occasions, but Hearn has always remained steadfast in his belief that the Gypsy King could be tempted back with a lucrative offer to fight Joshua.
Regardless of what Fury chooses to do, two-time world heavyweight champion Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) is planning his return to boxing. As reported by The Ring this week, Hearn has suggested he could still box before the end of the year, if not early in 2026.
“AJ is in a great place,” he said. “When I get that phone call to say, 'Come see me, I’m ready,' he’s ready. He’s in camp now to fight.”
When asked whether he expects the Londoner to retain Ben Davison as his coach after three fights alongside him, Hearn said: “I expect so. He has been training with various different people. He’s got a great relationship with Ben and he knows Ben is No. 1 a very good coach and No. 2 from a research point of view maybe second to none in the sport.
“Right now he’s getting himself ready physically to do the hard part of camp, the sparring and that solid 8-10 week period and that’s imminent really. We’d like him to return this year.”

I've actually lost interest in this fight. Both clearly now on the slide, the fight doesn't really matter any more. It's a relegation battle now rather than a fight for supremacy.

This fight will happen. Fcuk knows when but it'll happen. It'll mean absolutely zero and tell us nothing about who was the better fighter.
Just two multi-millionaires making themselves richer at the expense of us moron fans.
Always get the feeling in these drawn out affairs who avoids the fight, and who wants it.
Fury, for me, has never really wanted it.
Floyd never wanted pac.
Khan never wanted brook.
Not to say the guy avoiding the fight wasnt better. I think Furys better than AJ and would be the winner at most points of his career.
Pac scared the shite out of floyd in his red hot prime. Mayweather better either side.
Brook always had khans number, but the fight never proved that just who was least shot.

It'll happen next year, but both are on the slide, Joshua more so. Fury should win unless he shows up like he did in Wilder 2 in which case he will get knocked out.
I only give Joshua a punchers chance.
It's well past its sell by date.

I’d disagree there. I think he desperately wanted the fight in 2021. It would have been massive and he was very confident but the court enforcing Wilder’s rematch clause and then AJ losing to Usyk screwed it.

Aj never wanted Wilder or Fury. His career was brilliantly managed considering his glaring limitations.

That may have been the only time he seemed remotely interested. Rest of the time its been his usual BS.

It's common knowledge that Joshua has been knocked out by every single heavyweight in the world in sparring except Fury

I think the Price on is the only official one.

Wasn’t Wilder 2 Fury’s best performance in the trilogy?

Yes it was, my mistake, Wilder 3 was the slopfest.

Next Summer?
Why next Summer?
Why can't the fight be made sooner than that?
It's not as if they've got anything else going on.
Neither of them have fought in 2025 and haven't got a fight signed.

Hell it could easily be done by Christmas if they really wanted to do it.

they'll want to get as much money as possible and let the build-up stretch as long as possible. gives them time to keep negotiating and get us salivating

Fury's got a lot of uncastrated wild boar meat to eat before fight night.

I've always been in the AJ wants it, Fury dodged it corner , but now AJ just is'nt the scary monster he was , he's shown a definete punch resistence problem , he seems gunshy of letting his hands go , he's still stiff has a board , and now i think Fury would and probably should be very confident about this one .
I actually think it will happen , Fury will play a few games to get the money but really i think you would definetly have to favor Fury unless he's gone completly downhill overnight , just too much movement for AJ

Eddie said AJ is in camp. I don't know why or for whom.
And Tyson, if he fights again, he will try and fleece his remaining fans with a few warm up fights- on PPV of course
