No, I think a lot of sensible people would do. Has there been many fights in the past where one party is fannying about 6 weeks out like this? It still sounds like Fury needs a bit of rehab or something, not a fight.

I think he’s a narcissist. I can’t imagine he’s scared of Usyk, but he’s probably not liking the fact he is losing the popularity battle and wants to be seen to be calling all the shots and holding all the power.

It's nothing alike. Usyk has agreed to everything, 70-30 split in Fury's favour, and is now demanding it's on the proposed date with neutral judges and ref. Team Fury aren't signing off on that. It seems like Fury is scared to fight without crooked judges and a hometown ref. In the meantime Usyk has a mandatory if Fury pussies out of the proposed date so he needs to set a deadline so he can arrange that fight.

Fury gave AJ a week to sign .. where as Usyks people have been trying to arrange this since before Xmas.

Fury proposed and gave deadlines in ridiculous time frames where his real intention was obvious.
Usyk has agreed to options that even Fury berated Usyks manager for .. but there has to come a time when you realise your time is wasted; I fear Usyk appears to be at that point now.

I think applications for the knitting circle are gonna increase if the fight doesn't happen on the 29th April

He beat Weaver, Witherspoon and Smith before they became WBA champions. Dokes would have been a decent additition but he quickly lost to Coetzee. I believe Holmes took a stand about not fighting someone from an apartheid regime. Holmes would have got paid allot for Coetzee because of the racial factors. But there was a movement against apartheid that he strongly believed in. Page and Tubbs held the belt for 1 fight each.

Simply put there was no Usyk equivilent and Larry was the undoubted man of the division

Lol, how could he turn it down when there was never a set date, venue etc set for December? Here, I made it really easy for you: I broke it down into 10 points and included lots and lots of repetition of the same thing.

1. The original date of the Usyk-Joshua rematch was set for July.

2. The undisputed Usyk-Fury bout was planned for around five months later - no specific date was scheduled. Still, both team Usyk and team Fury agreed that the timeline is: Usyk-Joshua rematch, five months break, Usyk-Fury undisputed. They signed a contract too to that effect: see Krassyuk's interview linked for point 9.

3. When the Usyk-Joshua rematch was pushed back to August, the planned undisputed Usyk-Fury bout was automatically pushed back too - it was already known December was off the cards as soon as the Usyk-Joshua rematch didn't happen in July as per the original plan.

4. I repeat: as soon as the Usyk-Joshua rematch was pushed back, so did the planned undisputed bout - all parties knew this, including Fury.

5. On 28th August, five days before Usyk talked about not being ready for December (once again, for the third time: because his rematch with Joshua was delayed by a month = a December fight was not happening from that point on) confirmed that the Usyk-Fury bout was aimed for February. Once again: Usyk at this point said NOTHING about injuries or whatnot, but still, Bob Arum made this announcement as per the pre-agreed "five months break between the two fights" thing.

When on the 2nd of September Usyk talked about not being ready to fight twice in four months = no December fight (once again, for the fourth time, I'm hammering home this point so even the most devoted Fury stans can't say they don't understand: because his rematch with Joshua was pushed back a month and the pre-agreed five month break meant the planned undisputed bout was also delayed), Fury posted on his Instagram: "it doesn't matter if it's December or April or August next year" = still no blabbering about "December, it has to be in December".

The reason: Fury, of course, knew about the agreement about the five months between the Joshua rematch and the undisputed bout, that's why he basically said, "I'll fight you anytime, it doesn't matter" - his whole "it has to be in December" act came after...

7. ... the 8th of September when allegedly also confirmed what Bob Arum had confirmed before: that the fight was targeted for February

And if you wonder why February, why not January: ask any event organiser - January is the worst possible month to have any event held, let alone a big PPV bout - people are skint because of the holidays. If you want to make money at the beginning of the year, the event has to be in February instead of January, there are no two ways about it.

9. So when the Usyk-Joshua rematch was delayed from July to August, it automatically meant that the undisputed bout was delayed not to January but February - that's just basic economics. That's it, that's all there's to it. It wasn't because of Usyk's injury, it wasn't because of anything else. In his 2nd September press conference, Usyk merely explained that the pre-agreed five months break meant no fight for December and he needed that time because he needed to be with his family after his brutal training camp, fighting a war in Ukraine and sustaining an injury. I repeat: the injury WASN'T the reason for the delay, it was merely mentioned as one of the things that Usyk will deal with in the pre-agreed five months break that was happening anyway, regardless of anything. When the Joshua rematch was delayed, it meant that the undisputed simply can't happen before February.
