Diaz is a naturally bigger man than McGregor though. I think Nate's added size played a factor in the competiveness of those two fights. Obviously Dana overstated it but Diaz is between a lightweight and a welterweight imo.
On top of that, Im not completely convinced that Aldo would beat Diaz either.
I don't buy the size excuse. McGregor was a huge FW. He is a natural LW. He even looks big at that weight to be honest . ANd it is at LW that Nate's career was spent bar a fight or two. And it is at LW that he got beat by the likes of Bendo, Guida, Stevenson, RDA, Thompson. Yet, McGregor had issues with him. It's because McGregor is not complete in all areas. He is extremely strong in one area. This is why Conor has been kept away from Edgar. It is also why he will never fight The Eagle. And I'd be surprised if he ever fight Ferguson as well.
Conor fans:
"Yes, Conor is an entire weightclass larger then feather weights when it comes to fight time, but that doesn't matter. You're just making excuses."
"But, of course Conor lost to Nate. Nate is so much larger than him."
I never said anything about him not being a large featherweight?! Aldo also is a very big featherweight who struggles or did struggle pre USADA to make 145.

One things for sure, I had no issue with the Diaz rematch but letting him keep the belt while Ferguson sits there earning nothing and he gets 100 million to box is complete horseshit. They should have cholo on that July 8th card for the belt against the highest available guy that wants to fight him.

I still really want to see Tony fight Khabib. I can understand why Khabib would be very hesitant about that though.

Yeah my bad. I meant the other way around!

I love Khabib. But, he has really shot himself in the foot. At this point, Toney would be wise to forget about that fight. Khabib needs to move to 170, plain and simple.
I used to despise Tony. But his attitude this past year has really turned me into a fan. I feel he beats Conor if they ever fight. And I'm in 100% agreement with Saad. Conor should be stripped and the title shot should go to Tony vs the Chiesa/Lee winner or possibly a Barboza rematch.

I used to hate Tony too, sadly the tuf series turned me into the kind of fan I hate. As the sport grew bigger I started cheering against those guys like they were privileged when in fact they're locked into shit deals. He's hard as stone and actually great on the mic.

Yeah. He's a very intelligent fella with a chip on his shoulder. Perfect for this sport. Hopefully he starts banking what he's worth.

Apparently, Matt Hughes was in a pretty bad accident this morning and has been seriously injured. His truck collided with a train and he has been airlifted to a medical facility.
That's all the details we have at the moment.

How the hell does a truck collide with a train by accident?! I guess it's possible that one of those junctions that you stop at to left the train go by wasn't working properly. Normally, though those kind of incidents have some sort of relation to suicide attempts. I hope it's nothing like that. I know that Hughes lost his job when Dana and the Fertittas sold the company. Hopefully he's not been hard up for money and done something silly.

I hope not either. Probably playing Candy Crush and let his foot off the brake a little.

in all seriousness hopefully he makes a full recovery. I've heard a lot of negative stories about Hughes as a person but still wouldn't wish that sort of thing on anybody.

Of course

. I just read an update where the hospital’s trauma team has stabilized him and “continues to help him in his recovery.” So, I guess that' somewhat good news?

I always liked Matt, pretty much always wanted him to win except for against bj. The trigg fights are classic.

The Trigg fights were just before my time. I saw an interview with Dana where he said the most hyped up he's ever been for a fight was the Hughes/Trigg rematch. Musta been a great rivalry.

I'm in Canada watching some MMA on tv. 'TKO39', standard isn't bad.

Still up there with the greatest title runs imo. Sherk, Triggs, maybe even Newton couldve been superstars in their own right if not for Hughes. Still vividly remember the first St Pierre fight.... that counter armbar to GSPs kimura was a thing of beauty
![[icon_notworthy.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_notworthy.gif)
... even when his best days were behind him he was as tenacious as they come.... and for someone who started as a pure grappler, he developed a very respectable stand up game....

The one thing I really remember about Hughes was his strength. He had Gorilla like strength. The Carlos Newton KO was downright scary.

I suggest people read about Matt Hughes. I'm not saying he deserved what happened but the guy is a major pudendum. From torturing animals(and laughing about their squeals), beating up his dad with his twin brother(and bragging about it) and choking a fan unconscious because he thought it was funny. So basically what I'm saying is fornicate him some of my favourite MMA memories are watching him get sparked.

Was looking to be a boring main event tonight. Bethe wisely refused to rush forward and Holly refuses to lead. Predictably Holly set her up for a LHK and finished the fight. The best part though was the it immediately followed Correia waving her in, which she did and almost immediately Correia was out. Great finish though made the tentative fight worth the watch tonight.
I would like to see Holm vs Nunes(should she win) it could be exciting. There's nothing else in that division after the current title fight that's exciting IMO.

I'm super happy Megan Anderson is getting a crack in the UFC. Even though the division is basically non existent at this point. Maybe they could do a chicks 145 TUF series or something.
Anyway, meg is pretty legit, good striking, long reach and seems to have pretty decent power. I'd recommend getting on fightpass and watching all her invicta fights if you haven't seen her.
Still might be a little early in her career for cyborg, but it's a good opportunity

I agree, he is without a doubt(to me anyway) the GOAT. People rarely bring him up in discussions though, which is odd.
Think of the list of UFC champions he has beaten....Shogun, Rampage, Machida, Cormier, Belfort, Evans. Plus guys like Gustafson and Glover, it's pretty phenomenal.
I was trying to think of anyone else who comes close to that, Hughes beat GSP, Penn and Newton.
It will be interesting to see how he looks at 214

Huge July for Aussies in combat sports.
I'm giving Whittaker the best chance to pull off the upset though.

Anderson seems decent but the fact that she got submitted by Dandois a couple years ago make me think she's not all that. Her biggest win is over a 39 year old.
