Cheers for that Bennie and thanks for calling me 'son' – that always makes me feel young as I slowly approach the big 3-0. We're all entitled to our opinions but I read BN for roughly 13 years before I joined and always found Claude's writing to be insightful and thought-provoking. But what do I know – I'm just a young monkey earning my peanuts lol. Take care – I'll give that web page a read.

Very shitty practice but it's certainly not unique to BN. About a year ago the NUJ did a big survey on this type of thing, especially the abuse of the work experience system.
One poor, ambitious, deluded sod was reportedly on 'work experience' at a national daily for nine months.

Whoa it seems to to me purely as an avid reader for the past 50 odd years as a whole bunch of soar grapes here, I am not by far a well educated man as no doubt my spelling & grammer will tell all you high born hacks but I have allways found BN to produce reports & articles that to me the working man I can read & understand. Over the years I have gone along with the various changes in format which took some getting used to but altogethr it has been a very good publication & I hope to read for as long as I've got left so stop whinging & take what life throws your way & if it sucks try working on a bulding site or on a assembly line thats if you can find anyone thats employing at the moment

Good thread this.
Think i'm in the minority when i say i prefer the newspaper version of Boxing News. The more recent A4 design is okay but i feel the older version contained alot more literature. That said, i still havent missed an issue for over 6 years.
Who remembers that letter FW sent to Boxing News saying that they werent welcome at his shows. The front page was FW's face with the headline "You're Not Welcome." The spat continued back and forth for weeks. Think it was around the backend of 2003/early 2004. It made compulsive reading.

I wish Boxing News was a newspaper and cost a quid a week.
But more topically, why isn't there a centre page spread for young uns to pull out and stick on the wall like the footie mags do.

Steve of the Connelly brothers. Forgive spelling of surname if incorrect.

Tiny bit off topic but last week when in the States I noticed an 'American Boxing News' in the paper shops there. Truly awful. I couldn't find the real BN (BM was pretty well stocked but I already had it and I wanted to read the BN Froch preview).

Bruce Seldon perhaps? If not he will be gutted at having missed an opportunity
