Obviously Hatton should retire but equally obviously if he doesn't then Floyd snr is toast. To be fair the Hatton's have only themselves to blame if they have complaints about Mayweather - he was exactly the same with them as he has always been, its not like they bought one thing and ended up with another. That's the reason I was amazed they went with him - he's always been an immature self obsessed narcissist.

Who knows if Ricky fights on they might just go with Lee Beard on his own - that would be just another in a now lengthening line of mediocre decisions.

Floyd has publicly said that Hatton should retire. If Hatton does carry on. No way in hell he'll be training with Floyd. There are also rumors about disagreements in camp.

There is no way Mayweather will be in the corner for his next fight. I disagree with the view that Hatton should retire, obviously he is financially secure, so if he wants to retire he can... but he still has a future at a certain level. He's 31 and got KO'd early - its a reputation damaging fight, but less of a physically damaging fight.

Hatton vs Bradley is still a good fight, and a tough one to call.

If I were a kid and wanted to learn to box then I'd get Floyd Sr. to teach me, but no way would I have him in my corner as a pro fighter, the man is an idiot whose only advice during a crisis is to say "Get yo haaaands up, and whup that muvvafuckers aaaassssssssssss!!!"

Effing eejit.

Same with Buddy "Baby, you know whatcha gonna have to do baby" McGirt, knowledgeable of the sport but absolutely useless in the corner.

If its calm cornerwork you want, Joe Goosen is your man. I play Joe Goosen cornerwork tapes to relax me at the end of a hard day.

Yeah, he's excellent.

Really superb and underrated guy. Not to sure about his choice of shirts, though...

That's the type of cornerman I like, Joe Goosen or Freddie Roach or even Dan Birmingham. All calm and composed and tell you how it is without resorting to bad language and shouting all the time.

I might be a million miles wide of the mark here BUT could some of the unrest be caused by Beard himself?

Let me explain.

As I read it at the time (tell me if I'm wrong), Beard was asked to take Matt H on the pads. He was invited in by BG to help with pad work.

After the FM bout, a friend of mine in m'chester told be that Beard was saying that BG was poor in the corner etc.

Next Billy is gone.

Then Beard reccomends his good mucka Floyd M. have a couple of fights then.... disagreements between those 2.

I'm no defender of Mayweather. I think he's an awful individual. There is no way I would let him spend time with my sone no matter how good he is.

However, perhaps Beard is thinking 'why not be the sole trainer'.

Billy's gone, Kayes has gone, Mayweather going.

Justa a thought mind!

I mean 2 years ago he was doing nothing, now he could be Hattons chief 2nd. Not bad!!

Watching Hatton spar on 24/7 I think it was Beard right up on the ring apron next to Floyd giving instructions like he was co-trainer. Pretty clear from the Pac fight anything Floyd told him was either ignored or didn't sink in. What's the point in paying Floyd for nothing, may as well have Beard as his trainer if he's going to keep fighting the same way.

At the end of the day all trainers get judged on their fighters and you can't say that Lee Beard's time with Hatton has been marked by anything other than a decline in standards and a rise in in-fighting.

That's a good point. He's been sliding backwards of late and the reason should be asked why.

And NO.. I don't think it's because he's shot!

Jim Watt was telling people after the fight that the decision was made before the fight and the announcement to get rid of Floyd was to be made at the post fight press conference.

it would seem pretty narky to do that without naming the replacement so I reckon it will just be Beard.

Floyd will get the chop.

He was eating Mexican breakfasts when he should have been already in the gym.

Didn't bode well for Hatton's biggest ever fight.

Stu,

I disagree - the way Ricky was dismantled and completely gone will have a massive effect on him - telling you now his head will be saying "I can't go out like this" - however what possibly more can he achieve?

All he will be doing now is risking the very reputation he worked so hard to build up - he has lost to the very best 2 P4P fighters in the world there is no shame in that.

Enjoy the money - enjoy the dinner speeches - enjoy life.
