yep in the paper its hopkins -froch as well i think hopkins would prefair froch and make him a 3 weight world champ id then like him to take on adamek at a 190 catchweight as it would be an intresting fight, a carrier heaviest 45 year old against a guy who had to lose 10 pound more than usual who seems to be sliping slightly

I can't possibly see how there could be enough money in this to satisfy Hopkins when Froch's first (and highly significant) title defence wasn't taken by any UK tv station shows how little he brings to the table.
And if it did somehow happen we know Froch won't outbox or be allowed outwork Hopkins so who can truthfully imagine a stoppage win?
Hops maybe just showing trying to show Tito that he's not retiring and he is considering other options.

Hopkins is 44 now, and probably could turn old overnight.

People have been saying that for as long as I remember.
I simply don't believe it now... Hopkins is immortal

If Mick wants to look after Froch, he should steer him WELL clear of this one. It'll be dull and if he wins, so what? He beat an old man etc etc
Not worth the risk, put him in with someone he'll be able to actually hit.

I'm sure Carl would take the fight but it makes no sense, he's in a lose-lose situation. If he wins he's beaten an "old man" and if he loses he's "exposed" in the eyes of the so-called "experts." Super middleweight is full of potentially exciting fights for Froch which can keep him occupied well into 2010, it's not as if there's no challenge available for him.

Yes, it would be a ready made excuse for the yanks if Carl won..... and you know they'd make full use of it.

According to a usually knowledgable poster on the current scene...
Maxime wrote:I heard Froch's people are negotiating with Allan Green for a fight on Showtime later this year.
Which is why Allan Green bailed out of a fight with Lucian Bute AGAIN.

He beat Pavlik in October, which is quite a long time back. Hopkins is one of those guys who can pull of a performance one last time, and that was probably it

BEAUTIFUL NEWS
I would love tro see Froch v Green
Green KTFO Carlos de Leon Jr on the Froch undercard.
Winner vs winner, bring it on.
Green, interestingly, would be good preparation for Hopkins (should it ever happen). He has the same build as Hopkins, narrow waist, shortish arms (considering his height), that slight lean forward. He has fast hands, tries to mug you inside (ala Hopkins) but isn't very good at it. His best strength is sharp powerful shots from outside, but may be missing something, mentally.
Technically, he could knock Froch out if Froch doesn't put that bloody chin away. A very good fight. Perfect one for Froch, as he among other super middles are all with Showtime, and are fighting hard to get their Showtime money.

Let's hope that's just specualtion & nothing actually materialises!
That would be a con of a match-up. We, the public, should be paid to watch fights such as the above. Its shocking if this happens. Plain ridiculous!

Hopkins is all wrong for Froch and Hopkins knows it, hence the reason he's chasing the fight. He see's an easy nights work that will bring him huge props and another belt at another weight. He's yet to win a title at super middle and to do it at 44 would be something else, and he knows it.
Dont get me wrong, i'm all for our boxers stepping up and putting everything on the line, i.e Hatton, Haye, Froch etc, but there is no call from the fans for the B-Hop fight to be made. I see little point in it to be honest. Personally, i think Froch's team are utter fools if they let him take this fight next!

For those who say Forch should not take fight because he will lose
Get a fornicating grip
Its people like you that ruin boxing- the allegedly mentality - safety first - always got to have all the odds stacked in your favour
wheres the glory in that?
fighting is about guts and glory - and shooting for the stars
sometimes losing can be humbling and painful - like young Kelly Pavlik getting schooled by Hopkins
but its all about being a real fighter
we here in Britain are used to safety first fights - thanks to Frank Warrens spoiling mentality
even if Froch gets schooled even if he gets knocked out - credit to him for taking these tough fights
same for David Haye too
got to have the guts to get the glory

Shut up Flint!
I'm saying Froch has no buisness going in with a 44 year old who will do nothing but try to spoil and nick the fight. If Froch is going to put it all on the line, guts and glory as you say, i'd rather see him do it against Kessler (who i'd take to lay Froch out cold) ....... now go figure that one out if you can, fool!

Carl dont give a flying toss about the 'O' and just wants to scrap with the very best of them.
I say so what - go for it Carl.
One things for sure, Froch's heavy bombs will be taken a lot more seriously than Calzaghe's shoe-shining.
Can he win? he's got a chance if Hopkins comes to fight and not swerve and spoil.
When Hopkins is at his most negative, it would seem he's most effective at racking the points up.

Did you watch all of the Taylor fight or just the 12th round? Froch's infamous 'power' was nowhere to be seen, it looked mediocre at best! That can happen when a fighter steps up a level or two!
Hopkins would'nt loose a single wink of sleep over Froch's punching power.

Froch landed his right hand flush on Taylor as early as round one and hit Taylor with solid shots in every round prior to the knockout. Just because Taylor didn't go all wobbly doesn't mean they weren't having an effect and paving the way for the KO.
Froch should poke the safety-first brigade in the eye and go for Hopkins next. It will probably be his only chance at Hopkins - it's now or never.

But the ability to wear a guy down is based on landing over and over. No way is he going to be able to do that to Hopkins, and he doesn't have the 1000 punch output of Calzaghe. It's a problem if he was landing flush shots starting in the opening round and was unble to hurt Taylor until late in the fight when he gassed. That, as well as the Pascal fight, would suggest he doesn't have the power people have been going on and on about.
If Hopkins hasn't faded over night he will win by staying on his bike and putting on a defensive show.
