Er no...I've atcually read and studied the Koran. So my knowledge is infinitely better than yours. Otherwise you would know about the text to which I am referring.

Bare in mind this was in 2005, so I don't know if those 'mates' are still his 'mates' these days.

E,

I didn't see that bold writing. It's a term that is used quite often in Bolton, and perhaps Manchester. I went to Hayward school in Bolton and that term was used quite a bit against the white folk in our school. I don't know the meaning of it, but it's used against whites only.

Make of that what you will.

I went to school in Bolton as well, Bolton School. I'm afraid you're right, a lot of muslims in that area use the word "sweats" when referring to caucasians. Its a replacement word for "whites". I asked one guy why they call white people that and he said "because they sweat a lot." :?? I wasn't aware the amount you sweat is dependant on origin - he was a right tool that fella. Crazy thing is he's a doctor now!

it means he needs to lose the hangers on or friends that could affect the way pro fighter should live.
That was the thinking with him going to LA. Apparently his mates were always hanging around trying to drag him out when he was in training. Now Roach confiscates his mobile phone.

i didnt see the bold writing either  so E dont think when i explained what i did it was meant to be patronising because it wasnt :shame:

LOL! NO worries I didn't take it that way at all.....I just never heard that term before......the only similar thing I heard was 'sweaties' for Scots.

I wasn't aware that whites generally sweat more. From being in the gym, different individuals seem to sweat, some more than others. Watr off a duck's back for me if I'm called a 'sweat'!!!

It depends what school you went to and what part of Bolton you're from. If you're from Daubill or Great Level then the Asian population is far more than 15%. Khan went to Dean School which has around 50% and Hayward, the school I went to, has far more. I don't mind them as I am not a racist, but what I do mind, is when they are. On their own, they're nice chaps, put them with their mates or with other Asians, some of them can be horrid feckers.

I will never forget our library at school when the World Cup was on in 2002, when Brazil were playing Belguim and the winner was going to meet England in the quarters. They were all going for Brazil to win, just so England's chances would suffer. That's something I have never understood.

It was a racist term used at my school, no doubt about it. And Khan's mates were using it in Bulgaria.

I have never understood the Scots too - they concentrate more on England's failures than their own actual success.

Bonkers.

Khan went to Smithills

Yeah, that's right, it was Smithills rather than Deane, but still, so far that terms been heard in my school and Bolton School according to Mr. Panther. But I guess there's a possibility that it has been used, even if you haven't heard it. Although I have heard it plenty.

Is that not true of any group of lads of same ethnicity together..some racist innuendo/stereotypes and names will be used? Not that I condone bigotry/racism of any kind from any ethnicity but on the whole asians/blacks/chinese are more likely to get it from whites than the other way round.

There used to be a fairly significant right wing element to English football supporters especially the traveling fans..I am not sure how things stand now but things like this could be contributing factors in who the Brit Asians support, also I think a lack of any Asian role models in football at international level representing England could potentially have meant lack of support for England.
