I know a former European champ from our shores who did a bit after retiring after a serious brain injury.
I cant tell you who it is though

little was hard as fook, but he got his head splattered everywhere he loved a roll about.. had a shit pro record though

I have been to a couple of EBF shows in the last month - the professional boxers cannot box on that circuit - but there are a number of ex pros who earn a few quid doing so - the most prominent name being Mark Potter.
I was with one lad who boxed the other week and he got £300 for fighting 3 x 2 minute rounds.

I can remember on one show Luke Simpkin and his dad with someone else coming out to their ring music and us looking at each other and saying "f*cking hell its the Dingles" - I want to grovel and stress here it was merely squaddie humour coming out and we meant nothing by it!!!

Fury's Dad was a bare knuckle fighter aside from his pro career. Some say that he was considered one of the best for his time, in terms of bare knuckle.

Sure it says in Bartley Gormans book IF John Fury wasnt a pro he'd have been king of the gypsies, so I think John didnt do much when he was boxing.

In the Gorman book, Gorman basically said that around the time the book was written Fury was in his opinion the best at that time, and referred to him as the king. Clearly the vast majority of these type of fights are not known about, publicised or filmed.

Ron Stander, who fought Joe Frazier for the world heavyweight title, apparently fought one of the 'diamond geezers' over here in the 1970s.
Personally, this sort of thing, or kickboxing, or cage rage or UFC is all 'on the cobbles' to me.
It is ghastly. It is not sport.
