winnable fight for Woods at this stage. Roy doesn't have the pop he did, and I think Woods will want to make up for his awful showing against Tarver.

I still think Jones will have enough left to beat Woods. Woods looks good picking apart come forward brawlers. But a fast boxer type is his worst nightmare. Tarver completely schooled him and Tarver maybe as far past prime as Jones himself. Woods is past prime and faded too so Jones can grab 1 last title

I believe Jones would decision Woods relatively easily even now.

I think you're being slightly harsh on Clinton there - I figure he was better than European level but outclassed by the very best (even, in Tarver's case, the shells of their best selves) and a p;oor traveller. To my mind anyone who beat Glen Johnson (and was competitive against him twice more) has to be a bit useful.

I will state again Woods and Glyn Rhodes are getting on bloody well - Clinton is back to his old self after not being on top form for a while - its good to see!!

If Clint fights Roy Jones and loses, I desperately hope he refrains from the "I'm just a skinny boy from Sheffield" routine. I hated it when he came out with that after Tarver because Woods is a British great and I really thought the comment sold him short.

Even this jaded version of RJJr is far too much for Clinton!! It comes purely down to the speed factor!! I just feel Clinton struggles with speed and always has..IMO

agreed bomber. rjj has his number and I'm not even sure woods could really hurt roy if he landed flush. bad fight for clinton. i still think roy should retire though. roy is talking about fighting in MMA next. he called out anderson silva and i read they are in talks. Roy has lost some speed but imagine how fast he would be without gloves

If he fights MMA I'd be devastated mate..He needs to call it a day to be honest..A prime RJJr is a remarkable fighter but what he's doing to his legacy by continuing id ludicris!!

As for Woods I think the Hugo Garas fight is more winnable!! Or even Zsolt Erdei..

I hope Clinton does it as he's been a great pro over the years and a credit to british boxing

Jones will be a three round fighter Vs Woods. Woods may not be the same guy as a few years ago, but I would bet money that Woods would have too much pressure for Jones. Jones is shot to shit and if Woods couldn't beat Jones, then it's time for his retirement.

disagree dioufy. roy is shot these days but i think woods would still have a problem with the speed. woods is pretty limited to be honest, and he has the mental scars of the first fight to deal with too.

and bomber i would be devastated too mate. i worry about roy, would hate to see him end up like mcclellan but if he keeps on, it could happen. the problem with roy is, i just can't see him retiring from the game until someone retires him, if ya know what i mean!!

i was pretty shocked by that too doiufy. roy wasn't pulling the trigger at all and calzaghe was just standing in front of him there to be hit. (by the way, calzaghes showboating in the fight was disgusting). i don't know why roy wasn't throwing punches at a static target i.e calzaghes head right in front of him.

and that does leave question marks indeed, but i don't think clinton is good enough to exploit roys weaknesses because woods is just so limited. pressure? come on mate.

Of course a win over Jones now is not exactly avenging what happened in 2002, but the bottom line is, Jones is still a top 10 fghter at the weight and as such it would still be meaningful in the present climate. Not to mention a good payday.

I wasn't suggesting my scenario was plausible, it's just that this is a repeat of a fight that happened seven years ago when both fighters (Jones in particular) were better than they are now and the fight was also very one sided.

Now it's 2009, the fight might be more even and both fighters still competitive at the top but in some ways any outcome of the fight wouldn't prove much. If Jones wins, it 'was expected', while if Woods wins it's he beat 'a past it Jones.' The most this fight shows is longevity in both fighters (which is no bad thing of course) but I can't feel anything else for it. If it is one last shot at a title/longevity angle then fair enough. Perhaps I've got Calzaghe v Jones stuck in my mind and am being a bit cyncial.

Jones tires very easily these days unless he dictates the tempo. Limited or not, Woods will bring pressure. Yes, Jones would probably win 3/4 rounds out of the first 5, but after that, Woods would take over. It would be an easy night's work for Clint.

but roy still has power, and lets not forget that.

clinton will bring whatever pressure he can, but roy will sting him with fast shots, even with his back to the ropes.

worst case scenario for roy is that he allows clinton to pressure him on the ropes and wail away with shots, but even there i can see clinton having trouble with roys little one-twos that he will throw from the ropes. roy would have too much pride to lose to woods i think, because he would have to seriously look at himself if he was losing to someone he toyed with so i think he would be really up for the fight. the speed would be the thing. don't get me wrong, clinton will do better than last time for sure, but i just think roy wouldn't allow himself to lose to clinton.

Roy may still carry a bit of power, but Clinton's chops will remedy that.

Clinton Woods is one of those fighters who will fight whoever and I mean whoever is put in front of him if it means a world title shot - he leaves the politics, bullsh*t and the smokescreens to the promoters and TV companies.

I also see the comments concerning Clinton in recent performances - personally and yep I am biaised - Clinton performed excellently against Muriqi and seems refreshed and ready to go again under new trainer Glyn Rhodes - there is no disrespect to Richard Poxon who did excellent for Clinton but under Rhodes - Clinton is back to his normal self again!!!

Hopkins, Dawson, Erdei, Garay, Tarver, Johnson, Diaconu, Cloud, Woods, Green.

You could argualy put Jones above Woods and Green, but whatever... what I meant was that Jones is top 10 with various sanctioning bodies, therefore a win over him carries political merit.

Jones v Lacy is close to being made apparently, so would assume the Woods/Jones fight is getting less likely.

Need a large amount to get Jones over here and not sure any of the tv stations would have the money to pay it to be honest.

Add to that the fact not sure the yanks would buy it in there country, famous last words but does seem a non starter to me
