kotelnik has a really good defence and is very hard to counter but against harris he counted him and knock him out

true southie thats one i didn't think of...the shot that finished Harris was a left hook counter when Harris was turned at the wrong angle on the ropes

tho from memory, most of the big shots witter landed that night were leads and not counters... i stand open to correction there though

Ok so Khan has a doubtful chin, but what about his speed and size advantages?

As long as he sticks to the plan his speed, movement, fitness and size could be defining factors that an old Witter might not be able to overcome. Amir is not the come forward fighter he used to be either. He'd be quickly in and out putting the pressure on and looking for openings.

Witter may look for counter punches and to get involved in exchanges to test that chin. Khan's reach could be important if Witter wants to do this and it could be Witters downfall. Witter is much smaller than Prescot was. If Witter can distrupt Khans rythm and back him up with the jab then he will get openings for the KO.

It could be another case of Khan getting the right fighter at the right time.

Ortiz would beat the lot of them at 140lbs, he's an animal.

Khan will vacate if he wins. He'll move back down to LW or fight Hatton/Witter at LWW (bigger rewards). Casual boxing fans would love a fight with Hatton or Witter and they'd also forgive him a loss against either.

I think both will have a very tough job even winninig the title in the first place. Kotelnik is a very tough opponent for Khan, and I favour Alexander to edge Witter on points. They could very well meet in a WWE-style "loser retires" fight though.

Witter has to much power for Khans china chin also Khan has never fought anyone as akward as Witter he would confuse Khan with angles and KO him within 4 rounds IMO

We don't really know how good Khan is yet. And we don't know where Witter is at.

Obviously Khan has bags of potential and looks much improved under Roach. But the Barrera fight may well have flattered to deceive. I was at that fight in Manchester and I have to admit it looked like Khan had the better of him. But watching it back a few times, that cut was so bad Barrera was one-eyed and even then he still caused Khan a few problems with his counters. The fight should have been stopped and rematched but i'm not going to get into that one, i'm just saying we really dont know how good khan is right now. And Kotelink is a very tough, skilled fighter. If Khan stops him or outpoints him by a wide UD then he shows himself to be World class imo but more likely he's going to struggle and be really tested. Either way, questions will be answered.

Similarly, Witter looked poor against Bradley and fighting a guy like Devon Alexander he is now in the last chance saloon. He will have to produce a good performance to win but if he does so, he reaffirms himself as a top class operator. If he loses then its time to call it quits.

IF they both win and I hope they do, then this match-up would be fantastic.

Khan has me confused - offensively he is world class - definsively not so sure!! - his chin certainly is a worry - and lets face Witter throws punches from all angles which would trouble Khan.

Its a bloody good fight to make - but one that I sincerely hope Junior Witter would win!!

As Teddy says it would be a competitive fight until Witter lands a bomb that is. Rounds 3 to 6 no more.

This is an interesting 1, I've got to lean towards Witter at the moment, just expecting him to time Khan flush who telegraphs what he's going to do, which Witter would thrive on. But Khan is getting better all the time and Witter fading. Plus Khan may take advantage of Witter with his hands down himself. Won't happen anyway

Doubt it, Witter can spoil with the best of them and his chin is solid.
I think stylistically the matchup favours Witter, if you look back at his career as a whole and discount the Judah fight as Witter was far too green, the guys he's struggled against have been cagey, defensive or negative fighters or at least were on the night: Corley, Haek, N'dou, Kotlenik, Lynes, Bradley, . Witter likes tall jabbers, because he can jump at them. Khan can't take a punch, it literally would take one or two from Witter to get rid of him.
That said, we don't know what Witter has left, he's been sliding for a few years now imo, in fact I think he peaked around the time he won the European. Although he banged out the last guy he did take a few coming forward which wouldn't have caught him a few years ago.
