Re: Appeal By Team Geale as IBO Investigate.

Ive watched it a few times now, I had Geale winning by 2 rounds. It was close but Geale pushed the pace of the fight and landed more punches IMO.
you nailed it in one word, WORKRATE,geale blocked and outpunched mundine, what,s with these power punches of mundines ? geale was going as strong as mundine at the final bell,he landed more punches took the fight up,and was robbedAusie Boxing Fan wrote:GEALE WAS ROBBED: I rewatched the controversial Mundine-Geale fight of last Wednesday earlier today in peace and quiet without the biased commentary team in my ear or a bunch of drunk morons shouting poop like ‘farrrrken killllllimmmm!’ The result, a fairly one sided scorecard for Daniel Geale. I still think a lot of the rounds were close, but I still think Geale was the aggressor for the entire fight, as well as landing the cleaner punches and doing the better job of blocking punches out of the two of them. It really is a different fight to watch without the moronic ramblings of Barry Michael and Andy Raymond (and to a much lesser extent Paul Upham). I suggest it to everyone who has an interest in this fight to rewatch the fight with no sound and to write each round score on a different sheet of paper and then fold it up and tally your scorecard up at the end of the fight and see how it comes out. Here is how I scored the fight:
Rn.d Geale vs Mundine
1 10 - 9
2 8 - 10
3 10 - 9
4 10 - 9
5 10 - 9
6 10 - 9
7 10 - 9
8 9 - 10
9 10 - 9
10 9 - 10
11 10 - 9
12 10 - 9
Geale 116 < Total > 111 Mundine
Now there’s a couple of rounds that could swing either way, but I really find it hard to score that fight for Mundine. Geale basically outworked him and outpunched him for the majority of the 12 rounds and while Mundine had his moments, they were smothered in Geale’s workrate throughout the entire fight. If there’s a round you disagree with me on, please feel free to flame me in the comments section and I’ll be more then happy to respond and if you hate my scoring that much please post it on a message board somewhere, I could do with the extra viewers.
are you trying to say that mundine fought the same style he fought against his previous opponents, mundine is aggressive against a setup, cautious against someone with a bit of ability, and on the bike against agood hard puncher, your comment on defence is shot down in flames, play your tape in slow motion and count clean shots landed by both fighters,do you believe power shots are worth double any other punch.?i think that fight will improve mundine more than young geale, mundine has to go and chase the big ones now, i wish him all the bestgerry wrote:i am happy for anyone to believe and to score this fight for geale however
to say he was robbed when clearly this was an even fight that could have went either way is frustrating
aussie fight fan you scored it 116 - 111 which i have no problem with but if you take 3 of those close rounds and swap it around mundine wins 114-113 this is why it cant be a robbed decision
also everyone has commented on mundine, warranted or not for punching on the break etc
but how many times did geale punch mundine in the back of the head without a whisper
unfortunately for mundine because he is a tool he is over scrutinised and this can affect how you may have scored the fight
you mention workrate as why geale won the fight this would fall under the catergory of ring generalship but because mundine is so defensive and fights in this manner on all occassions you cannot give it to geale
if you want to argue effective aggression geale did not back mundine up or cut the ring off and many times they clashed heads as mundine tried to stand his ground
mundine was much better defensively and is a defensive fighter who tries to counterpunch or will come forward at times and try to score and at no time did geale stop mundine from doing this
therefore geale did not dominate mundine in the way of effective aggression or ring generalship or make him fight in a style he doesnt normally fight
yes geale was effective with his workrate but mundine was just as effective with his defence and his ring generalship
clean punches, this is where i believe the fight was won because as i mentioned above there is a case for both to be controlling rounds, i am not saying what above is right but it is the flip side of the coin
and that is why geale was not robbed because you can argue or see a fight totally different to the guy next to you
Yep, look for him to sign on to face Joel Burke any day now...patron wrote:[ mundine has to go and chase the big ones now
