I always enjoyed watching him on the box - he should be on ITV, maybe doing some ITV4 stuff to see how he gets on and if he does well then give him the big slots on ITV1. I wonder if Sky would ever have him back?

I remember that Tyrell Biggs gave Mason alot of problems, think he may of been in front on the scorecards, there was a few raised eyebrows when Biggs went down from a solid righthand, he looked as if he could of got up , but didn't.

Yeah I always thought that was a strange fight,He always looked half asleep when commenting on the late night fights was a bit embarrasing at times.

You can see Biggs getting the nod from his corner (allegedly) and suddenly flopping to the canvas. I once interviewed Biggs at the Russell Square Hotel, when he was more ambitious. He was pleasant and Lou Duva was even nicer, which surprised me.

Biggs got hit square on the nose and went down from that. When he looked up a typically dodgy Larry O'Connell started the count at about 8 & quickly waved it off.

The stinky fight was Mason-Tillis - Duff obviously had an agreement that Tillis could not last longer with Mason than he did with Bruno, so Tillis's crooked cornerman Beau Williford promplty threw in the towel in rd 5 despite there being a lull in the action. Tillis was stunned, and absolutely disgusted.

Anyhow, Gary Mason as a pundit and analyst was ACE - witty, dry, engaging, but unfortunately wouldn't fit ITV because he has this pesky habit of CALLING IT AS IT IS.

Can you imagine Gary Mason talking about Amir Khan & his opponents? ITV would sling him out. They need a shill like Bazza McGuigan who has zero pride to sell bad fights and mismatches.

yeah well said. I think gary was a bit too muscle bound like bruno and was too easy to hit.

He'd of definitely wasted Danny Williams, I could see him doing a similar number on Danny that Samil Sam did. The Lennox fight showed how strong willed & determined Mason was.

Was it the eye injury that ended his career?

He had the 2 fights in the USA , i thought he just lost interest in it after them.

He said he took the fights in the US to prove he could get licensed there, in a bid to aid his appeal to get relicensed in the UK. Ultimately he was rejected again and did not fight again because he said he ultimately wanted to box in Britain, and if he couldn't, then he wasn't interested.
